A teacher did not, as previously stated, leave a door propped open with a rock during the massacre at Robb elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, last week, but closed it before the attacks began–only for the door to not automatically lock, Texas state investigators said. The gunman used the door to get inside, where he killed 19 students and two teachers.
The finding, released by Texas department of public safety on Tuesday, contradicts an earlier account in which they said a teacher had propped the door open shortly before Salvador Ramos, 18, entered the building.(Snip)“We did verify she closed the door. The door did not lock.

With all due respect, in the face of national and international shaming, she has convinced herself that she closed the door. If the door was not open, he doesn't get in. Just as people who get his by an oncoming car convince themself that they looked to the right and left before pulling out. Sadly, she will live with this guilt forever and will never be able to forgive herself.

The absolute blame lies with the shooter, now dead and in the care of Satan, where he belongs.
As we continue to grieve for the dead, pray and care for the injured, and console family and friends.
And there are many, be they school staff, police officers and commanders, who are going to have to live with the pain of their decisions, or lack of same, right or wrong, for the rest of their lives. I'm not sure any of us could come up with a punishment any crueler than that.

So schools need to ramp up their wi-fi systems so that teachers don't have to go outside for signals.
Was Ramos on campus before the 25th checking the doors? He went straight for that door.
And yes, that teacher will live with tremendous guilt for the rest of her life. I hope that she finds the best help possible.

So can the lock not latching on the door that wasn't propped open be repeated? Does it happen every time or did it happen just that one time?
Because I'm calling BS on that story.
My guess is she panicked, maybe kicked the rock, but not far enough and it was swept back by the door and then blocked it.

This story keeps changing faster than a chameleon crossing a flower patch. And what about the Army plane from Fort Meade that landed a few hours before at the local airstrip and then left just as the shooting started? The rifle was apparently bought at a gun store involved in Fast & Furious. Don't know what's going on.

Did the door close and not latch? Possibly. It's still your responsibility to test that it's secure. I have the same problem where I work.

More than likely was advised by Teachers Union lawyers to protect from lawsuits against teacher and the school.

Combine an event like this with an internet full of hostile cynics and these are the rumors we get. So many greedy for details and someone other than the shooter to blame. Lucianne has changed so much, some of us hardly recognize it.

From a U.S. source and probably a dozen others:

Schools have intercom systems, classrooms to office. That makes me doubt her 'race to the car for the cellphone' .

#11, it's important to read things with a critical eye. Are US news sources (with a very few exceptions, from which I also post) any less radically left-wing than the communist Guardian?

Not buying this or any other exculpatory explanations or excuses from any source connected with this tragedy. Whether propped open or the auto lock failed, now fools are looking at further hardening schools and employing 100,000 more SROs, despite their gross failures in Uvalde and Broward. There was no shortage of officers nor any delayed response in Uvalde, either. What a tragic shame.

As is so often the case, no one seems to have read that much of what is reported here is from the San Antonio Express. You’d think by now that we’d know that the UK papers - including the Daily Mail - rewrite and republish reports from American news outlets. And the person vouching for her doesn’t sound like a teachers’ union rep. Have a look for yourself.
As for reports changing, I am astounded that anyone watching news stories break would not expect eventual changes in multiples from what is blurted out in the first hours, first day...

True facts seem dificult to pin down, but it surely seems that a lot of armed police stayed outside and let these young ones bleed to death. I do not see now how they can live with such a decision

I'm not blaming anyone until I know more, but I think that in the future, all exterior school doors, with the exception of the main front doors, need to be magnetically sealed and alarmed like the ones in the Rotunda opened by the Capitol Police for the J6 tourists. They will NOT be able to be propped open and they can have a card reader for entry and exit.

Didn't the school in Uvalde have over forty lockdowns within a short period of time recently because the mayor and others in charge were so concerned for the safety of their citizens, especially their school children, because of a host of problems caused by illegals and cartel members coming into the town? And you mean to tell me that a back door to a school where the massacre happened had an automatic lock that did not work correctly and maintenance on that school's back-door lock was not always up to par?
More baloney.
More CYA.
So many people in this country are so dishonest, and that's what's really destroying us.

Our school has exit doors to the outside in every room. At least half of them do not latch automatically. This has been the case not for just years, but decades. The first budget that is cut during budgeting in ANY school system is maintenance. So, little things like doors that do not work properly, air conditioning systems that are 50 years old and do not work (in an enclosed building mind you, no windows to open), and roofs that leak like sieves. The mold in some of these buildings is disgusting.

I'm done until the story settles down. Arradondo, if he was actually the on scene commander, as reported, is guilty of violating all the training and years of discussion on these events. If he didn't make that choice, who did?
Continuously changing story, and I'm not convinced that it's because we are getting more accurate information. I hope that is the case, but I really wonder if there is a coverup being worked out. Initial reports are extremely damning of the police commanders....whoever they prove to be. Sounds like the school was very difficult to keep secure, with most (all?) classrooms have a door to the outside.
Too many unknowns, too many different stories. Police response seems incompetent. Maybe we'll find out differently, eventually.

Check out the picture of Victoria Soto, Sandy Hook teacher victim, and compare to Eva Mireles, Uvalde teacher victim. Just sayin'.

So now the door is to blame. Everyone but the damaged person who decided to kill (perhaps urged on by a federal government handler, as was the case with the Buffalo grocery store gunman), and the police officers who hid outside until the killer completed his grim task.
