Video emerging online from Tuesday’s schoolchildren massacre in Uvalde, Texas shows local police more concerned with stopping parents than stopping the killer.
Parents were pleading, “Give me the vest, I’ll go in there!” but some ended up in handcuffs instead of vests.
Before you watch this video, please remember that these are Robb Elementary School parents who have been waiting fruitlessly outside of their own children’s school while a madman was allowed all the time in the world to complete his rampage.
There’s no violence, no blood, and it’s still one of the most difficult videos I’ve ever watched. [Tweet] What led to these arrests, at least in part,

Even though this is at least the third time this has happened (Columbine 3.0), the public may finally be catching on. What you're likely going to to see at the next school shooting is parents showing up with guns, and fighting through the police line and then the perpetrator to get to their kids. The zero-risk culture of the government's monopoly on the use of force has succeeded in creating more violence. It takes a big government to make a big problem.

Law enforcement prevented the killing of many others by their actions, which I believe were appropriate.

And there are proposals to hire 100,000 of these "heroes" (if you can find them) to put into schools...to do what? If they're around there's a good chance they'll retreat and wait for reinforcements, such was the case in Florida. Someone could get hurt, never mind the kids. For nothing the schools can at least lock their doors.

My first thought #1. This is Texas. You mean to tell me not one of those parents had access to a gun? They even knew what room he was in. All the police did was get a little girl killed when she yelled out for help after the police told the kids to yell if they needed help. Also, was this an interior classroom, or were there windows in the room?

Playing with themselves. The real first responsders, the teachers, were defenseless. Arm and train them. Station real Resource Officers in each school. Harden the buildings. Come on, This is not a difficult problem to solve.

Cowards, hiding while children died. I'm sorry but this is NOT OK, and this is not acceptable, and this sort of a choice is a perfect reason to fire all these people for failing to do their jobs in the most important time.
I'm an old man, and I am not a cop, but if I had been there, and had my rifle with me, if nobody else had been available, I'd have been willing to give it a try, and risk being wounded or dying in the process. If they aren't at least as willing, what in the hell have they been doing stealing the pay that they have been getting for all those years under false pretenses?

I have another question. Why weren't the doors of the school locked? I live in a small city and teach at a private preschool. Doors at my grand children's schools are locked as are doors at our preschool. I haven't seen this addressed but did read he opened the door and walked into the school.

#6, I read an account of the incident written by a national news organization in my local newspaper. IMHO, the actions and timeline seemed to be appropriate and timely.

So basically, they just prevented the children from being rescued?

Who is responsible for locking the door? That person is as guilty as the police

#1 - "The zero-risk culture of the government's monopoly on the use of force has succeeded in creating more violence."
That is a most succinct definition of what is going on in law enforcement that I've ever read. This mindset raised it ugly head even before Columbine (1999) with the Rodney King riots in '92. TK was LAPD and awaiting deployment when they called in the National Guard, then he came home and changed uniforms. Most people don't realize that when they call in the National Guard about 1/4 to 1/3 police officers go home and change uniforms. 2,000 National Guard isn't really an extra 2,000 bodies.
In TK's role as a Major in the Military Police he was at the downtown incident headquarters. This is what he told me. When the rioting initially broke out, the Captain at 77th Division called all the guys in to get on their riot gear and hand out the shotguns. Just as they were ready to be deployed back onto the street the brass from Parker Center showed up and ordered all the officers to stay in the station, while they figured out the political thing to do. Chief of Police Darryl Gates and Mayor Tom Bradley hated each other and hadn't spoken in decades, and the riot made no difference. The police department brass and the city hall brass didn't communicate and each operated independently of the other. It was a real "cluster f" until the Guard took over handling the riot.
The rot in the rank and file police officers is the direct result of the thinking of their commanders. Risk adverse is their only motivating factor. We are on own and the sooner more people realize it, the sooner the senseless violence will stop.
Side Bar: The guys on top of the Korean stores were South Korean soldiers. The Koreans of Los Angeles are very well connected to their homeland, and send back a lot of money. The day before the verdict the South Korean army flew in a plane load of civilian dressed soldiers that were dispersed into the Korean community. If you look at the videos closely you will notice the young men are all in new clothes, short hair and holding military grade weapons. The day after the riot they all flew back home. TK heard this from the South Korean Major that was in the incident headquarters.

Yes, #2, the chances of more officers being shot were pretty good but the chances of many more innocent, unarmed children being shot were 100%.

You know the black and white flag with the blue line in it. A support for cops flag?
I've seen the blue line exchanged for a yellow one.
And they've deserved it.
