A veteran Russian legislator has issued an appeal to Vladimir Putin to stop military action, bring his troops home and end the war in Ukraine.
Communist deputy Leonid Vasyukevich, 69, blasted the use of Moscow’s servicemen in Ukraine, as a Russian court dismissed more than 100 national guardsmen in the first case of soldiers refusing to fight in Ukraine as politicians demanded the army return home.
Members of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, a separate military branch from the Russian army refused to carry out an assignment related to Moscow's 'special operation' in Ukraine.
A military court in Russia's southern republic of Kabardino-Balkaria found that

If true, this would be great. But I don’t believe anything the media says.

If Putin had any honor at all he would immediately resign in shame followed by committing ritual seppuku.
He has presided over the largest most costly Russian military fiasco since the 1939 Winter War with Finland and the 1905 Russ0-Japanese War. The greatest damage that he has done to Russian national security is that he has revealed the state secret that the Russian military is comprised of poorly-trained conscripts led by an inept, corrupt, incompetent officer corps. ''Special Military Operation'' is an appropriate name for this farce is the word ''special'' is being used as in ''Special Olympics'' compared to the Olympics.

Putin made a horrendous misjudgment by thinking he could take the Ukraine in a month; it's now been 3+ months and they are far from having the Ukrainian government capitulate. Something tells me old Vlad's cancer is going to incapacitate him and a new leader of Russia will emerge.

now, this!! is very interesting, if true, I guess the real hardline communists are losing their grip on the Russian people, maybe it is the country of Russia and not the re-birth of the Soviet Union
- let's hope so, now, all we need are the people of the Republic of China to step up and then, the people of the People's Democratic Republic of Korea to step up and so on, and so on

I hope it is true. Interesting though that the 100 servicemen weren't dispatched with bullets for refusing to fight. That's normally how things work there. At a minimum, Vlad and the russkie oligarchs must be made to pay for reconstructing Ukraine and hugely compensate the families whose family members were killed by the russkie military.

Do they fire service men now for refusing to fight. Hmm, I thought they always court marshaled them.

If true, it sounds like the truth is getting out in spite of Putin's efforts to keep a lid on this. Just the fact that Ukraine has managed to withstand the Russian assault against them for 4 months is making the general population of Russia aware that their leaders are lying to them. Hopefully, the Russian will remove Putin from power before he does something disastrous.

Most of Russia's populace is likely just learning of what has been happening in Ukraine.Vlad probably thought it would be over before they knew much about it.
Their socialist party owns the media jut like our's does.

Propaganda I suspect...the news cannot be trusted...I'll believe it when I see it...and all those Ukrainians that have been killed are products of putin's ramblings and a pentagon that has the war in a foreign country they wanted for the military complex....once again the little people suffer for the actions of the oligarchs in both countries...it would never have happened if President Trump was in the White House...and WE all know it...

If Russian troops soon consolidate control of eastern Ukraine as seems likely, Putin can negotiate continued control of the area by agreeing to release grain shipments thru Ukraine's southern ports. As the cries of a starving world rise, the west will be forced to accept the negotiated position. There won't be the stomach by NATO/ EU to open the ports by force instead.
Putin can demand a vote to determine if those who live there want to be under Ukrainian of Russian government. Since most residents are Russian speaking and feel tied to Russia, Putin should win the vote. Of course, Putin will insure the win as he will control who counts the votes.
If this occurs, Russia will be in a stronger position economically having both a land bridge to Crimea and control of the resource rich areas of Ukraine. Russian will be in a stronger position militarily than if Ukraine had remained whole and joined NATO.
If this occurs, Russians will celebrate their great victory. Opposition to the war will fade away.

Putin's lifespan may be shorter than we think. Nobody is Russia is benefitting from their current immersion in the Ukraine muck.

The politicians will disappear and the servicemen who refuse orders have probably been shot. I guess "fired" may be a Russian euphemism for fired at in the back of the head with a pistol.

The US has turned on bidet according to the polls. Maybe everything will be fine now.
God knows we don’t have any dissent in this country but when we do everything is right as rain.
Yes I feel good about this story. Everything will soon be fine and nato will be able to expand into Ukraine and the right people- the bidet and kerry families etc- will be able to loot Ukraine, not putin.

Remember this report is coming from a UK newspaper. So how do we know that the British Intelligence Services are not throwing a virtual bomb into the current Russian hierarchy? They would not do that, would they?
