Texas Department Public Safety spokesman Lt. Christopher Olivarez confirmed to a reporter during a live shot that police officers went into Robb Elementary School to get their own children during the massacre. Amid outrage over reports that frantic families who complained about police inaction during the massacre were held back by police, a clip of a live interview with Olivarez from Tuesday has gone viral. In the clip, Vanessa Croix of KENS 5 says she’s heard that police went into the school to get their own kids while the shooting was going on, asks Lt. Olivarez about it:

If I were there as a cop and had a child in that school, you bet I would go in there.

That is reprehensible. You don't hold parents back while allowing other cops to go retrieve their kids. The cops that did that should be fired. If it comes out they retrieved other kids as well that is a different story.

#1, I get that but how could you walk out and leave other children at risk? Plus, if some went in why couldn’t they all go in? Why not swarm that building? Create a distraction, do anything that would stop the carnage. What about those large windows? Could they not be used as a point of entry? I am just so frustrated by this tragedy because it appears right now that lives could have been saved. To lose a child is devastating but to think that they may have been able to have been saved but we’re not must be the worst. Can you imagine the “what ifs” that are going through the minds of those parents? It is enough to make you go mad. That entire community needs our thoughts and prayers.

With apologies to our team owner, I'd like to weigh in. Lt. Olivarez appears to have attended Miss Karine's School of Elocution. In this, as in Parkland, it seems the LEOs were there to write reports, and show the ME where the bodies are. Were the classroom windows so heavily armored that they could not have shot in a tear gas cannister or flashbang? Sure some kids might have been hit with glass shards. But probably fewer hit with lead shards.

Every officer at every level in this country should be trained by now and how to handle an active shooter situation. The first person on the scene goes to the threat as fast as they can and takes care of the problem. You don’t wait for others, you don’t wait for the swat team, you don’t wait for anything you go as fast as you can to the threat with whatever weapons you have.

The sense of duty and sacrifice required here is the same that was shown by 18/19 year olds at Omaha Beach, or firemen entering a burning tower on 9/11 knowing fully well they will not survive. This spirit IS America. It is being destroyed by Secular humanism and Liberal thinking.

This tragedy is so very sad for many reasons but now we have Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Beto O'Rorke, Meghan Markle or whoever rushing in and acting like they care. Where were these people in December at the Waukesha, Wisconsin shootings? Joe Biden wouldn't even come to visit with these families or make any kind of appearance. Maybe because it was just dancing grannies as victims and not young people? Democrats are all about mixed messages and the Uvalde shooting is a failure of their mixed policies or lack of policies. Democrats don't know their "butts from a hole in the ground" but they always seem to convince enough people during election years. Since 2020, we are told it is okay to protest and riot, people should be released from prison, it is okay to do marijuana, it is okay to do whatever etc., etc. I have a lot of questions that I would want to ask of this school. . .

And at the presser it was found that the "secuirity officer" funded by the Republican legislature and signed by Governor Abbott wasn't there that day, (was thar person ever there?) And why were all with guns cowering like Parkland Scot Petersen? There were no men on the scene, so horrific for the families.

What we are witnessing here is endemic with Government Workers and Politicians. Yes, this is a pox on all government workers and politicians. They do the kabuki dance of appearing like they are doing something and in reality, they are doing nothing or just enough to justify their existence. Every one of these police officers should be fired.

I haven't followed every news story on this horrific event but how big is this school? Was the killer just wandering around? Doesn't sound like it as he appeared to be in one classroom once he got inside the school. So none of these LEOs had the wherewithal to start leading the kids out of their classrooms and away to safety while the killer was in the one classroom? And the wait for negotiators? I haven't heard any reports that the killer was holding anyone hostage - just in one classroom murdering innocents. So far at they early stage - Gov (Abbott (just recently re-elected and how many now regret that vote) and his DPS, and local law enforcement are not looking too good, professional, etc.

These cops were given an instant choice: risk dying as heroes or living as cowards. They appear to have made a committee decision to do neither until a full company of their peers showed up to discuss the matter in an even bigger committee. And this, while hearing shots coming from inside the school. In the end, by doing nothing, the discussion committee chose cowardice, until one elite border patrol cop ignored the committee and entered into harm's way on his own, followed shortly by his teammates. This was not the Alamo. One fiendish perpetrator, one hero, a classroom full of dead children, and a discussion committee of cowards.

I'll go in and get MY kid out, to hell with everyone else. THAT is third world "policing", that is a police culture of corrupt officers who are out for THEMSELVES and are not doing the job for the public good. These are the kinds of officers who will take bribes, and do other corrupt things on a different day because they have the wrong cultural view of their job responsibilities.

Please everybody, calm down. The fog of war, remember that? We do not know, what we do not know. Let the process continue and don't be so quick to condemn the police. Wait for all of the facts to come out before you make judgments. What we do know is that a BorTac officer has stitches on the top of his head during a gun battle with the shooter. We saw the baseball cap. It's a miracle that Officer wasn't murdered too. Think of Dan Bongino's Rule: Wait 48 hours after (a crises) before you make a comment. And last of all, could we all say prayers for the families, police and the community? They need that.

No one knows how they would react under such a situation. Sometimes it's the quiet person no one expects that shows the most courage. If there were windows in that classroom, there was probably a chance to draw the attention of the shooter away from the kids long enough to try and gain entry into the room, but who knows. Trying might have saved lives. Waiting around certainly didn't save anyone.

The first responders who climbed up the stairs of the World Trade Center towers, knowing they may never come back, the marines who have stormed beaches in the face of murderous gunfire, the National Guardsman who lost his life trying to save an illegal immigrant in the Rio Grand two weeks ago, the Coast Guard rescuers who are dropped into stormy seas to save a victim, all would be shocked at the reluctant police who stood outside while children were gunned down in their school. The logo for their department should be a yellow stripe. May they live in shame.

The only thing the cops there could have done to make this worse is if they had gone in and shot a few kids themselves. I find I am rarely boggled these days having been numbed by one lunatic situation after another being reported on a daily basis for years now but I must say that this event tops them all (so far) for the display of sheer incompetence, malfeasance and stupidity. For thousands of years, going back to the Bible, women have wept and grieved and pleaded to God over their miscarriages. Indeed, it took all these millennia for modern-day pharmaceutical companies to develop solutions to this ongoing nightmare. In the 1940s, they were happy to offer doctors the ability to prescribe diethylstilbestrol (DES) to prevent miscarriage. “You can tell them you would give it to your wife,” the marketing mavens from Big Pharma suggested to physicians.
