This week, Nikole Hannah-Jones of the 1619 Project tweeted, "Black people posed a danger to the country's idea of itself; they held up a mirror into which the nation preferred not to peer. So the inhumanity visited on Black people by every generation of white America justified the inhumanity of the past and the inequality of the present." She added, "The North did not fight the Civil War to end slavery." At the start of the Civil War, she was, technically correct. Hopefully, she’ll present some people who are suffering from inequality so we can learn their situation and then be able to help them become successful. I’ve asked this several times but I’ve never seen any one put forth. You can’t help people until you know their circumstances.

The Emancipation Proclamation applied to rebelling states. It did not apply to Union states that still had slavery (i.e. Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware and Missouri).

there are many reasons "why" the war was fought . But as for the reasons why soldiers went to fight that war, those stories are all over the literature, all over letters, family memories. This historian has a conflict of interest because that testimony reveals a debt she owes and hates to owe. She is too bound up in what she wishes were true, which is that she owes no one, especially nobody white. Yet.... She does. People died for her, people she does not like. Oh what to do.

What is this dumb woman babbling about? I have witnessed that blacks have been free for decades. According to this moron they were being treated inhumanely and unequal. Strange I have seen them in the same restaurants that I ate in, traveling on the same planes and on the same cruise ships. If they were treated as this dame stated, why did they not return to Africa? They have been free for decades, could travel wherever and whenever they wanted. In fact, they could have looked up their relatives and asked them why they sold them? Why are they still selling them?

#3, You make n excellent point and one that had not occurred to me. How do you acknowledge someone you hate who actually stepped up and fought a war to free your ancestors? Every white person in Ms. Hannah-Jones view is a plantation owner abusing her ancestors. The hate runs so deep in her soul that she cannot even acknowledge the truth of what white Americans did on her behalf even in recent history. Does she forget the whites who were killed a few decades ago supporting black voting rights and equal access to the public square? She is one ungrateful wretch. Whites bled and died to free her ancestors. Why isn’t she fighting against the slavery that is widely practiced in Africa and Muslim nations today? Wouldn’t you think that with her history, that would be an important issue to take up? Yet, blacks are stunningly quiet about slavery happening all over the world. It seems the height of hypocrisy to grind on the very people who fought and died to free her ancestors and totally ignore blacks who are suffering the indignity of slavery right now? Where is her compassion for a human that is sold for money? She would rather sit here in comfort and grouse. Why are there no black groups speaking out against slavery today? Are those blacks unworthy of concern? Or is stopping slavery only a white person’s responsibility?

Whites owe Martin Luther King Jr and the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's a debt of gratitude for holding the country and especially the Democrats to the tenets of the Declaration of Independence and he Constitution which hold that all are created equal, get their rights from God, not Government, and that one purpose of government is to preserve the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Blacks owe a debt of gratitude to Whites who died in a war to preserve the nation and end slavery, and who voted for the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965. There were only two Blacks in Congress then. The Bills were signed by a White president.

Whole lot of Murphys and Sullivans in the civil war cemetaries. Pretty sure they weren't oppressing black people when they died.

A veteran Russian legislator has issued an appeal to Vladimir Putin to stop military action, bring his troops home and end the war in Ukraine. Communist deputy Leonid Vasyukevich, 69, blasted the use of Moscow’s servicemen in Ukraine, as a Russian court dismissed more than 100 national guardsmen in the first case of soldiers refusing to fight in Ukraine as politicians demanded the army return home. Members of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, a separate military branch from the Russian army refused to carry out an assignment related to Moscow's 'special operation' in Ukraine. How many times have we seen liberal politicians try to talk about guns and gun control and prove they have no idea what they’re talking about? Too many to count. The latest example of a liberal politician being under the false impression that they made a good point on guns is Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) “If 18-year-olds can’t buy alcohol they sure shouldn’t be able to buy an AK-47. CHANGE THE LAW,” she tweeted. [Tweet] As of this writing, this moronic tweet has 111,400+ likes. Right off the bat, we can dismiss her talking point as absurd. Democrats are always telling us that younger people are mature enough for more responsibility.

Before we even knew how the killer of 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, had obtained his guns, Sen. Chris Murphy was engaging in his customary performative emotionalism on the Senate floor, literally begging Republicans to “compromise.” Compromise on what exactly? Murphy has never once offered a single proposal that would have deterred any of these mass shooters. Literally minutes after his routine, Murphy was asked about the obvious mental illness prevalent among most of these shooters. “Spare me the bulls— about mental illness,” the Connecticut senator responded, “ripping” the GOP. “We don’t have any more mental illness than any other country in the world.”

Video emerging online from Tuesday’s schoolchildren massacre in Uvalde, Texas shows local police more concerned with stopping parents than stopping the killer. Parents were pleading, “Give me the vest, I’ll go in there!” but some ended up in handcuffs instead of vests. Before you watch this video, please remember that these are Robb Elementary School parents who have been waiting fruitlessly outside of their own children’s school while a madman was allowed all the time in the world to complete his rampage. There’s no violence, no blood, and it’s still one of the most difficult videos I’ve ever watched. [Tweet] What led to these arrests, at least in part,

Karl Marx is one of the most well-known deadbeats of 19th-century history. So inept (or perhaps incapable) of financial provision, his wife once sold his last pair of pants for food; consistently delinquent on rent, he used fake names to dodge creditors; and in a letter to his friend-turned-sponsor Engels, Marx’s mother wrote, “if only Karl made capital instead of just writing about it.” Given the fact he offered nothing substantial, to either his family or society, it should come as no surprise that he “birthed the toxic tenet of communism.” In his writing, he discussed his hatred for property owners (again, predictable response from an envious freeloader).

I bet Don Lemon only prays when there is a mass shooting. “Please, God, let the gunman be white.” The lefty sitzpinkler at CNN came up with snake eyes yesterday because the shooter is Hispanic. That changes the narrative for the left. Here is their playbook: When the shooter is white, the problem is “white supremacy.” White people are evil and here is the proof. When the shooter is a minority, blame easy access to guns, usually by attacking the NRA, which is run by “selfish, conservative, white, gun nuts.” The race of the shooter has nothing to do with it.

As the nation sinks inexplicably into self-created crisis after crisis, debate rages whether President Joe Biden is incompetent, mean-spirited, or an ideologue who feels the country’s mess is his success. A second national discussion revolves around who actually is overseeing the current national catastrophe, given Biden’s frequent bewilderment and cognitive challenges. But one area of agreement is the sheer craziness of Biden’s cabinet appointments, who have translated his incoherent ideology into catastrophic governance. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has essentially nullified federal immigration law. Over 2 million foreign nationals have illegally crossed the southern border without audit — and without COVID vaccinations and tests during a pandemic.

For God's sake, Mister President, don't turn this tragedy into cheap political capital. I just watched President Joe Biden take a stab at playing the role of America's "mourner in chief," a role his Democratic predecessor, Bill Clinton, managed quite well. That may, in fact, have been the only thing Clinton did that actually helped the country. For all his many failings, Clinton knew the importance of helping people cope with tragedy. Unfortunately, Joe Biden didn't crib this page from Bill Clinton's playbook. He made it partisan fairly quickly, blaming the tragedy on the "gun lobby" and "gun manufacturers." Yet he started out well.

First, America’s Birth was premised on the right to bear arms, entirely apropos for wilderness colonies where wolves and bears were plentiful, and much fare was taken in wild environs. Also, with often tenuous relations with natives, there was a need to always be ready to repulse attacks. Second, Colonial Arms keeping of arms handy
