Russia is now withdrawing some of its troops after suffering “heavy losses” in recent days, claimed the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense on Thursday.
In an update posted on social media, the ministry alleged that “Ukrainian forces are continuing to counterattack to the north of Kharkiv, recapturing several towns and villages towards the Russian border.”
“Despite Russia’s success in encircling Kharkiv in the initial stages of the conflict, it has reportedly withdrawn units from the region to reorganize and replenish its forces following heavy losses,” the agency said, referring to the second-largest city, located in northeastern Ukraine near the Russian border.

No # 1 they are not going to nuke it...they have come to the realization that they are dealing with a well armed population that will be waging war for a long time. Think Afghanistan

I'll believe a withdraw when I see it. It's hard to believe anything about what's happening over there.

No. They are leaving because their job is done and goals achieved. Anything else is pure fiction.

Saturation bombing with non-nukes first requires that they move their troops out of danger.

A few more parts of Ukraine are now part of Russia. Just setting the stage for the next invasion. Russia will be better prepared next time. For that matter, so will Ukraine. It's the equivalent of a face slapping contest. We will all see how long they can last. A few decades?

#4: "They are leaving because their job is done and goals achieved."
What goals might that be? Killing innocent civilians by binding their hands and shooting them in the heads? Bombing hospitals and apartment buildings? Flattening entire city blocks? Forcing millions of innocent civilians to flee their nation? Acting in such a brutal and barbaric way that long-neutral nations like Sweden and Finland want to join NATO? Some goals!

I honestly dont care who wins. They are two sides of the same coin. Still, its nice to see Russia humiliated...again. If true.

I get the impression the top Siloviki in Moscow honestly don't know what to do now. They can keep spending lives, but they can't buy anything with them. And Russian military technology has suffered such a loss of reputation that I cannot imagine anyone buying another Pantsir or T-90S.

Russia accomplished little except that maybe the Ukraine won't join NATO. They lost twenty-five thousand soldiers and billions in equipment. Their standing in the world community is shot and few will do any type of business with them in the future. If their goal was screwing their economy and killing thousands or people on both sides, I'd say mission accomplished. It's more like humiliation complete.

I hope that the Brit's Intelligence service is better than ours but then at this point anyone could be. Our brilliant generals and spies told us this war would be lost by the Ukrainians in 2 days. Oh well more experts heard from.
I really want to know how these guys get their jobs and more importantly how they keep them when they are always so wrong about just about everything. And don't think this is something new. Jimma Carter told us in no uncertain terms way back when that the Soviet Union was strong and would be with us for at least another 50 years and said basically get over it. Oh yes and put on that extra sweater because the world would soon be out of oil. Why do we even listen to any of these nitwits. Nitwits then nitwits now and some are the same nitwits and they are all getting paid big bucks by the US taxpayer.

Russia is facing the most sophisticated technologically defensive weapons the World has ever seen supplied by multiple countries not involved in the conflict with much larger economies with intelligence capabilities only dreamed of during the second Gulf War. These results are not only predictable but the very reason Russia launched its invasion, no NATO on their doorstep.

So..putin's little escape into more land from Ukraine ...like Crimea... during obama's "official" running of our country...unlike now...when he's the king behind the curtains in the Oval Office...and biden's mouth/piece...this time he ran into the Ukrainians who wouldn't roll over...and finally the nato dudes saw an opportunity to stop more encroachment from Putin...and supplied weapons and man/power...sorry black women...didn't mean to exclude you...I know how sensitive you are about your entitled acknowledgement...

A weird phenomenon: I find myself agreeing with seemingly opposing comments on this thread.
First, I do not trust our intelligence sources who have gotten some really big things wrong in the past. Where are all the WMDs in Iraq? They may exist, but where did they go? Russiagate vs. Trump seems to be a complete lie.
Second, I do not trust what the Russian government says anymore (or less) than our own government. Are the Russian troops really withdrawing OR are they just falling back to regroup? Are Russian leaders getting troops out of harm's way so that they can begin a bombing campaign? Surely Russia isn't stupid or brazen enough to launch nuclear weapons. Or is Russia so stupid and brazen?
Third, as evil as Russian aggression -- and I mean the government's aggression, not the people's aggression -- is, what sort of evil is Ukraine engaged in? How much can I trust the Ukrainian government and media?
All this comes down trust. And I don't trust the media or government -- which all too often are part of the same syndicate, whether officially or unofficially.

To those thinking that the Rooskie's are withdrawing as a prelude to Tactical or other forms of nukes, I disagree. The purpose of invasion is to seize lands to be used for the good of your country. Irradiating the land, and sending fallout over your borders is not sensible. On the other hand carpet bombing with conventional weapons is definitely not off the table.
Time is now of the essence for the Russian State. Neither their citizens, nor the world at large will tolerate another Russia/Afghanistan style boondoggle.

Russia wants to get their hands on the info on the Biden Cartel Operations in Ukraine so they can blackmail them. An added benefit is access to the sea, Unfortunately, for them the Ukrainians are better armed and fiercer fighters then they anticipated.

Yes, Russia has failed to reach their goals, damaged their economy and humiliated themselves. I suggest we stop focusing on that half of the world and show more concern for the United States, which is failing to reach its goals, killing their economy and is thoroughly humiliating itself across the world. At present, we are in far worse condition that Russia is. We both have one thing in common, insane and corrupt leadership.
