The headline race in Texas’s primary runoffs on May 24 is the Ken Paxton versus George P. Bush showdown for Republican attorney general candidate.
For Texas Republicans, it’s representative of a Trump versus Bush dynasty duel.
“It’s a very interesting state of affairs, and I think it indicative of a sea change that’s occurring in Texas politics and politics generally,” Kenneth Grasso, professor of political science at Texas State University, told The Epoch Times.
“There’s historically been tension, you might say, in the Republican Party in Texas, between the more social conservative/populist wing, and the more mainstream business Republicans, that predates, I think, Donald Trump, but … the ascendancy of Trump certainly has

Nonsense. There has never been a "Bush dynasty" in Texas. That's an idea generated and perpetrated by liberal media to give a target to the anti-Bush crowd. And Trump's support or lack of same isn't much of a factor in Texas. George P. will probably lose, but it appears he's run a good campaign.

Two lackluster Bush presidencies, chumming around with the Clintons and Obamas, trashing Trump at every opportunity has definitely opened my eyes to the Bush family. Their true colors came out with Jeb's assumption that he was entitled to the nomination, and the whole family's sore loser grousing after he blew it. I will NEVER vote for another member of the Bush family.

Ditto #1
And Paxton's a lock. We've had our fill of Bushes and while you certainly could do worse you can also do better.

One of these things is not like the other. Yep, smells a bit swampy, albeit by name.
Hat tip to George P. for being above past words & differences between Trump & Bush family. Earned some respect there. With strong support in GOP for Trump, while the Bush's trashed him, makes that last name an albatross around his young neck, in terms of party support.

We will find out if Texas goes the same way as Wyoming did with Cheney. Hopefully, Wyoming will soon correct its mistake and Texas will not make one with another Bush.

George P. is nothing if not pragmatic. You wouldn't win an election as a Republican dog catcher in Texas without being pro-Trump policies. How much of George P.'s actions are for show is a matter up for debate.
I wouldn't be suprised if the Bush family are sitting around the patio up in Maine and George P. tells his dad and uncle, "Yeah, I know that Trump is a real @#($$&^*, but you know I gotta play the game to win in Texas."
I wish Louie Gohmert had gotten into the race earlier, he would have been a good choice for AG. But Paxton should win 55-45 or better tonight.

I don’t need a former president who was a New York democrat in 2009 telling me how to vote in my home state. I also disagree that there is/was a Bush dynasty in Texas. GHW Bush was more a New England establishment republican than a Texan but he stepped up to become a Naval Aviator during WWII when he didn’t have to serve and did so honorably.

#6, I don't think is was so much that Louie got into it late as somebody spent a LOT of money doing direct-mail hit pieces on Louie. It was high-quality production, looked a lot like a dem-type hatchet job. And it may have been. Not affiliated with any campaign. Whoever it was did NOT want Louie as Attorney General!

There are no more Kennedys in office(their hope of the restoration when down with JFK Jr),no Roosevelts,no Adams so this Bush going down would finish this family.
Political dynasty is a recipe for corruption & arrogance.

There is not now and never has been a Bush dynasty in Texas. Any votes that George P. gets are despite his last name not because of it.

My Texas friends tell me Ken Paxton is a crook and will vote for George P Bush; not for George's last name but because Ken Paxton is a crook.

Ol Georgie P is responsible for the caretaking of the Alamo being transfered from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (who took care of it for nearly 100 years) to the GLO (General Land Office) who are known for their political machinations, not to mention half-hearted curation of information. (Ask me to tell you about how they manage state pipeline information). His Mama is Mexican who dislikes anyone reminding her of Texas' history. Plus, he's a Bush. 'Nuff said.
Paxton fought for Texans to have lower tax bill and is solid solid solid. These "charges" are as trumped up against him as were the ones against Tom DeLay and other conservatives who stood up to the Establishment in Texas.
May the Bushes rot in hell.

Talk about image-makers. I remember when I thought there was no one more clean-cut, decent, and full of integrity than a Bush. Then came the Iraq war with all the solders being killed or maimed; the continuing twenty-year war in Afghanistan (is it over yet?); G.W. Bush's description of Bill Clinton as his brother-from-another-mother, or some other awkward phrase (of which I'm also guilty, but I do it for free which is all it's worth), but the thought of not having another Bush in public life does not make me feel sad. It strikes me that young Bush has the clean-cut look, but still he is not professionally prepared to be the Attorney General of the great state of Texas. Besides he'll have loads of other options.

#12 needs better friends and #13 mentions only a small sample of why I am voting for Paxton. Paxton has been fighting hard against the border invasion amongst other things and the Bushes are so "for" the invasion that I don't see Peee Bush from Florida standing up for us against his family.

I w/b surprised if Paxton didn't win by 70/30 of Jebitito Bush.
Travis County political sleaze about Paxton's office was attempt at kneecapping Paxton,
who is about the ONLY one fighting for Texas. Meanwhile 'Big John' Cornyn & non-Dewhurst Cruz
are busy getting kickbacks by giving ANOTHER $40 billion to UKRAINE.
Overwhelming Tx House & Senate RINOs are screwing off massive majority by being
closet democrats. Meanwhile DeSantis is taking names, kicking A, and LEADING.
Paxton seems t/b only Leader in Texas, others appear to be hoping the Don't Mess With Texas
myth with get them elected Preezy by unsuspecing voters like was the miracle of clueless Bush 43,
being hornswoggled by Terd Blossum Karl Rove while Iranians were making as many IEDs as they oould
blowing off our 18-21 y/o soldiers legs in Iraq for YEARS. Curse the bushes.

PS read Ch 7 of Schweitzer's Red Handed - Bush & Trudeau Dynasties - read about 41's older brother, Prescott, starting to work on business in China, in 1981 when 41 was elected Veep. Bidens were just clumsy & stupid following where Bushes have been for decades.
