Biden authorizes the emergency sale of
ethanol-based E15 fuel this summer to
combat soaring gas prices and help save
10 cents a gallon - despite smog and health concerns

The Environmental Protection Agency issued an emergency waiver for a higher-ethanol gasoline blend on Friday, allowing summertime sales of the fuel in an attempt to help lower gasoline prices at the pump. The move represents a temporary win for the biofuels industry and corn farmers, as it will likely expand sales of corn-based ethanol, and a setback for oil refiners, which view ethanol as competition.(Snip)'Coalition for Clean Air is concerned that increasing the ethanol content of gasoline beyond 10 percent could boost summertime smog, which sears the lungs,' Bill Magavern, policy director at the coalition, told DailyMail.com in an email. The ground level smog has been tied

Comments:

Contaminate our gasoline and then the air because Big Ethanol wants more money, then turn around and say increased levels of smog are why we need coal-powered cars. Backing ethanol was a huge early unforced error made by Donald Trump; it should have been shut down for many reasons.

Neat plan. Let's see. Increase ethanol percentage in gasoline results in lower MPG ( less energy in ethanol ) leading to more gallons being purchased to go an equal number of miles means more gallons SOLD means MORE TAX MONEY ( currently $.37 / gal in my state ) and little if any reduction in TOTAL COSTS to commute, shop, travel etc. Also proves to the unwashed masses that the Dems are really doing something to help us all. Yeah, right. Help us all over the cliff ! Pardon me while i wretch. The Biden Regime headed by chairman of the board Flap Ears Barry knows exactly what has caused this breathtaking rise in energy costs ( they did it - intentionally ! ) and they know exactly how to fix it - reinstate President Trumps policies that were CANCELLED by said regime. They are simply NOT GOING TO DO THAT. Not without some, um, er, ah, 'persuasion' or 'encouragement' or 'pressure' and maybe not even then. They just MIGHT fix it around Sep or Oct and anyone who doesn't know WHY they might fix it then is not paying attention ! We are stuck with this and more INTENTIONAL disasters until some house cleaning takes place by whatever method REQUIRED and there is NO pleasant, clean, painless way that I can think of to do that !

Ethanol is only cheaper because of the enormous tax payer money funneled into the producers pockets. Ethanol is not a viable energy source. It is a net energy sink when everything it takes to produce it is taken into account. You can make a money losing business profitable with subsidizes but you can't make an energy losing process produce energy with money.

And REDUCED fuel economy. Alcohols have dramatically less energy per gallon, so as you add more of this destructive food-based adulterant, you LOWER the energy content of a gallon of "gas", therefore reducing miles traveled per gallon of fuel. STOP with the damned corn in my gas tank. The ONLY thing it does is increase farmer's profits at the expense of the driving public.

Some auto manufacturers will void engine warranties if more than 10% ethanol is added to gasoline (as an adulterant to perfectly good gasoline with 66% of its energy content). Most warranties are void if used with E85. E10 does enough damage unless it's replenished periodically as in a vehicle that's used frequently. Other engines - not so much. Only Flex-Fuel vehicles can use E85. Only a small percentage of them on the road, and I don't think any small engine allows the use.

Asian-American groups are getting $20 million in the new New York State budget to fight an alarming tide of hate crimes that has shaken local communities. The money in the $220 billion annual budget deal falls short of the amount Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations had sought, but it doubles last year’s funding. “The Asian American community has never been properly accounted for in the state budget,” state Sen. Ukrainian officials on Saturday accused Russian forces of seizing grain in contested regions of Ukraine as fears of a looming food security crisis linger amid the ongoing war.
