In the wake of the myriad failures during the covid pandemic response, World Health Organization officials did little self reflection. Instead, they decided that they needed even more power over the global population. Subsequently, the idea of a Global Pandemic Treaty was born. COVID-19 illustrated the need for enhanced preparedness and closer cooperation at global level.(Snip)The World Health Organization gets to define what a pandemic is, when a pandemic is in progress and how long a pandemic lasts. Then you read the fine print and you realize the W.H.O will have total authority over emergency operations in the United States if there’s ever a “public health emergency.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell took three Republican senators along on a surprise trip to Kyiv Saturday for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky--where he called on the US to designate Russia as a “terrorist state.”(Snip)McConnell...(Snip)made the trip just two days after their fellow Republican, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, forced a temporary halt to the massive military and humanitarian aid bill.(Snip)A top Zelensky aide wrote that the visit signaled an imminent end to the impasse in Congress. “Today, our state has the strong bipartisan and bicameral support of American friends,” Andrij Sybiha wrote on Facebook. “And the American people.”

The immediate and most obvious speculation (including by me) was that the leak was by a liberal/leftist, likely a law clerk, trying to create a firestorm of protest that would pressure one of those five Justices to wobble, much like Chief Justice John Roberts reportedly switched his vote on Obamacare in 2012.(Snip)So an activist could leak using a false narrative that Alito represents the majority, can generate the protests and the energy in the base, can create an issue for the midterms, and at the end of the day, Roe survives, which can be spun as a victory for the protesters, proving the mob was able to intimidate the Justices.

A shocking number of elderly citizens died in the first wave of COVID, and not always from the virus but from severe malnutrition and dehydration, and by protocols that used euthanasia drugs and “end-of -life pathways” as a first-line of treatment for any symptoms, according to a recent analysis published in the C2C Journal. Of all countries in the west, Canada was the deadliest place to be an at-risk long-term care home resident. “At the end of May 2020, Canada was reporting that 81 percent of the country’s Covid-19 deaths took place in LTCFs [long-term care facilities],” writes Anna Farrow,

Last week, I reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Alabama Public Health officials were investigating a mysterious outbreak of hepatitis among young children in Alabama. Outbreaks had also been reported in Europe and Israel. The investigators were concerned that the pathogen was an adenovirus known to cause gastrointestinal problems in kids but usually without such severity. Now one official indicates that the cause may be tied to covid. Not the pathogens, but the lockdowns.(Snip)Not only did the lockdowns fail to stop the spread, but it appears that childhood health was sacrificed on the altar of “science.”

In Delaware Wednesday night J.D. Vance had the stage to himself, taking questions from voters in a townhall hosted by NewsMax.(Snip)As for Trump’s endorsement, Vance chalked it up to debate performance. “I think he sort of came to think that a lot of the other guys were just you know, sloganeering and talking points, and didn’t actually believe the things that they were saying,” Vance said.(Snip)The townhall format gave Vance a bigger bullhorn, but much of what he had to say reiterated points from previous debates. Vance railed at big tech censorship, got loud applause for his border plan, and stood firm on his skepticism of involvement in Ukraine.

Darkness either overcomes you or it compels you to shine your light to repel it. Americans face this choice as we are bombarded with social issues that require us to examine the core of the nation’s soul. Whether you believe the United States is a Christian nation founded on Judeo-Christian principles or not, the universally accepted norms of right and wrong remain until they are upended. The far left in our nation is actively attempting to eradicate core beliefs by confusing children of their gender and God-given sex, by emasculating men, by making race an idol, and by worshipping at the altar of abortion.

The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded a $6,000 grant to Oberlin College, according to an announcement from Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Cleveland. The money will be used to support students in advanced research that results in publication.(Snip) “Ohio’s great museums and universities play an important role in our understanding of the world, and were hit particularly hard during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Brown said. “These funds will allow Ohio cultural and educational institutions to continue supporting their workers while providing a vital service to local communities for generations to come.”

Periodically, in what seems like a never-ending assault on our basic values and the rule of law, good news emerges. The good news now is the unanimous decision of a panel of three judges on an Ohio Court of Appeals, supporting a jury decision in favor of Gibson's Bakery in its case against Oberlin College.(Snip)The decision is worthy of our attention because it shows just how troubling the situation is at our colleges and universities.(Snip)The nation is indebted to the Gibson family for refusing to be intimidated by left-wing dogmatists at Oberlin and for standing hard and fast for what is true.

Rob Portman has gotten good at finding reasons why only Republican presidents should be able to appoint justices to the U.S. Supreme Court. Portman, Ohio’s junior U.S. senator, did it in 2016 following the death that February of Justice Antonin Scalia. Portman joined his fellow Republicans in insisting that the seat shouldn’t be filled during an election year. Thus now-Attorney General Merrick Garland was denied even a hearing on his nomination to the high court by Democratic President Barack Obama. Instead, we’re stuck with Justice Neil Gorsuch, an appointee of Republican President Donald Trump.

The Ohio 9th District Court of Appeals has just issued a decision in the Gibson’s Bakery v. Oberlin College case. For those of you new to the case, Gibson’s Bakery was a 5th generation family business in Oberlin, Ohio, near the Oberlin College campus. It served baked goods to the public and also to the student dining service, as well as operating a general convenience store. As with many other small businesses, student shoplifting was epidemic, as we covered, Student journalist: Shoplifting at Gibson’s Bakery was part of Oberlin College’s “Culture of Theft”
