Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference at the Retro Fitness gym in West Palm Beach on May 20, 2022 to announce the largest budget surplus in the state’s history. The state has access to $20 billion USD for the 2022 fiscal year.
He also announced that Florida is registering almost 45 percent of the market share of overseas traveling, the highest rate in the country and the highest ever recorded, beating out New York which previously had the highest numbers.

Smart. Fearless. Totally competent. What Trump would be without the goofyness. How much longer do we have to wait before we can vote for this guy and put this country back on the right track?

If I was a Floridian, I wouldn't let him go. But it's like a father who wishes his little girl would never grow up and leave home! A future president for sure!

Imagine what Florida would look like today if Andrew Gillum had won that election in 2018.

It will be interesting to see what happens going forward.
More spending?
Tax breaks?
Save the money for any future budget shortfalls?
This will be a test DeSantis leadership.

Budget surpluses are nothing to celebrate. It means the state is taking more than it needs. And the solution? Spend more! The solution ought to be tax cuts, even when those taxes largely hit "foreign" pocketbooks.

22 family members and myself are flying out of Pensacola in a couple hours. The panhandle has been our choice of vacations over the years. Unfortunately we cannot make this our home We must head back for our jobs and the rest of the family. The main reason I would like to see Trump in 24 is that I would hate to see Florida lose DeSantis when he is needed so much to keep this a red state. He’s young so there is plenty of time for him to become a great president.

Couple of budget Karen’s commenting today. Gov DeSantis has a surplus because he doesn’t overspend. We have ANY state income taxes here and our lottery provides FREE college tuition ( with zero impact to taxpayers) for all Florida high school students with a 3.5 GPA and tuition for associate degrees for 3.4 GPAs. Florida also Does Not tax military retirement funds. So the only taxes he could cut would be corporate, but now that Disney will be paying into state coffers, his budget surplus will be even better. Go Governor Ron!

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but INFLATION makes the prices go up therefore sales tax and property tax revenues rise. When DeSantis LOWERS these tax rates, then I will celebrate.

This just goes to prove Governor DeSantis is doing a lot of things Right. Too bad Blue stats governments are doing things Left.

Florida has a budget surplus, and the USA has a massive, rolling disaster on it's hands. We cannot get the Dems out of office too soon.

The opposition Maryland view, always on parade. The surplus is GOOD. Next step is a tax cut, to minimize the surplus for next year.

Even the best of our red state Governors are more managers in style and job performance.
Governor Ron DeSantis is a leader. There is a very big difference between the two. Florida is really reaping the benefits of having a really courageous leader.
