A 62-year-old man has been identified as a person of interest in the savage Brooklyn subway attack that injured at least 29 people Tuesday morning, officials said.
Frank James rented a U-Haul van tied to the N train attack in Sunset Park and is being sought for questioning, police said at an evening briefing. The key to the van was found at the scene of the crime, as was a credit card that rented the vehicle out of Philadelphia, cops and law-enforcement sources said.
It is unclear if James is the suspected gunman, the department said.
Authorities said 10 of the injured commuters had been wounded by gunfire.

Disney is a powerful company but they may have just stepped in it big time with their position over a parents’ rights bill that they falsely call the “Don’t Say Gay” law in Florida.
The law doesn’t say anything about “don’t say gay.” Indeed it doesn’t mention “gay” at all.
The legislative text of the House version of the bill reads, ‘Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.’ [….]

New York Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin has resigned after he surrendered to authorities to face campaign finance fraud-related charges in connection with a past campaign, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.
"I have accepted Brian Benjamin's resignation effective immediately. While the legal process plays out, it is clear to both of us that he cannot continue to serve as Lieutenant Governor. New Yorkers deserve absolute confidence in their government, and I will continue working every day to deliver for them," Hochul said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
Following news of his resignation, Benjamin's attorneys, James D. Gatta and William Harrington issued a statement calling his actions "laudable -- not criminal."

Police have located a U-Haul van believed to be tied to the gunman who shot at least ten people at a Brooklyn subway station on Tuesday morning, according to several reports.
Police sources told the New York Post and the Associated Press that the white truck with Arizona plates was recovered in Gravesend on West Third Street near Kings Highway. The van was discovered after investigators found a credit card at the scene of the shooting that they believe belongs to the gunman, according to the New York Post. One of the charges on the card was for a rental out of Philadelphia.

Heart inflammation after a Covid jab is not only rare but no more common than after other types of vaccinations, researchers have found.
As Covid vaccination programmes began around the world it emerged that some people – particularly young men – subsequently developed myocarditis, a type of inflammation of the heart muscle, or pericarditis, inflammation of the outer lining of the heart.
While cases were rare, the findings caused concern, with risk of such heart inflammation among the reasons cited by experts in the UK for the delay in expanding the vaccination programme to children.
Now research suggests that myopericarditis – an umbrella term that encompasses myocarditis and pericarditis

At least 10 Brooklyn subway riders were shot Tuesday by a man wearing a gas mask and a green construction vest who tossed a smoke canister in the train car to distract the rush hour crowd before opening fire, officials and law enforcement sources said.
One source close to the investigation says his gun may have jammed, potentially preventing further loss of life. A weapon was recovered at the scene, as was a bag with smoke canisters and fireworks, lending further credence to the theory of a premeditated attack on New York City transit riders, sources and officials say.
The shooter remained on the loose more than five hours after opening fire

Houston - The $11 million COVID communication deal Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo once vigorously defended has just triggered a half dozen felony criminal indictments against three members of her inner circle including the Judge's Chief of staff, Alex Triantaphyliss. "Bring it on! Bring it on because there is nothing here," said Hidalgo in September. Also, facing felony charges of tampering with government documents and misuse of official information are Aaron Dunn and Wallis Nader.
According to the Texas Rangers, the pair along with Triantaphyllis orchestrated a bid rigging scheme to steer the multi-million dollar contract to a little known, one-woman firm with few resources and extensive

New York Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin was arrested on charges related to a campaign finance fraud investigation, two people familiar with the matter told NBC New York.
Benjamin surrendered to authorities and is expected to appear in a federal court in New York City later Tuesday, the sources said. His arrest comes after reports that Manhattan federal prosecutors and the FBI were investigating whether Benjamin knowingly engaged in a campaign finance fraud scheme. They were also looking into whether Benjamin, in exchange, helped distribute state money to contributors and their projects.

Inflation accelerated in March to a new four-decade high as the Russian war in Ukraine fueled rapid price gains for oil and gas that wiped out the benefits of rising wages for most Americans.
The consumer price index rose 8.5% in March from a year ago, according to a new Labor Department report released Tuesday, marking the fastest increase since January 1982, when inflation hit 8.4%. The CPI – which measures a bevy of goods ranging from gasoline and health care to groceries and rents – jumped 1.2% in the one-month period from January.
Economists expected the index to show that prices surged 8.4%

The employees of the Twitter social media platform are taking a Monday siesta following the tumultuous upheaval brought on by the introduction of Tesla’s Elon Musk as a shareholder. The previous plan was for the company to host a town hall between Musk and staff, to ensure everyone was on the same page about the business agenda going forward. But that has changed now that Musk isn’t going to be on Twitter’s board of directors. "Employees have a previously-scheduled day of rest today, which is well-timed, as the vibe is super stressed, they tell us," said Sarah Frier of Bloomberg. The vibe described within Frier’s article on the matter

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” that he had “enough evidence” to warrant an investigation into if President Joe Biden is compromised by his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings in China.
Watters said, “Do you have evidence, senator, that would lead to you believe that Joe is potentially compromised by the Chinese?” Grassley said, “I only have enough evidence that that’s a legitimate question. I do not have evidence that goes as far as you would like to have me say it goes. If I could say it, I would say it.” He continued, “What we do know is that Hunter Biden
