California's Democratic-led Legislature wants to mandate a three-day weekend for all workers at large companies in the state. A new bill being discussed in the state assembly would see the official working week reduced from 40 hours to 32 for companies with 500 employees of more. Any work carried out beyond the 32-hour limit would run into overtime and be paid at time-and-a-half, while those working more than 12 hours a day or for more than seven days a week would be paid double their normal wage.(Snip)Employers would also be forbidden from reducing the workers' current salaries simply because they are working less.

Ultimately California government will run out of other people's money to spend and then parasitic government kills the host. Finally the parasites have to move or die.

Just when you think liberals can't come up with a policy almost as stupid as defunding the police, they come up with one that will drive hundreds of companies from the state. For example, can you imagine how much more a hospital will have to pay its staff of hundreds of nurses and interns for anything over 32 hours? It's obvious that the California legislature is full of people that have no idea what it takes to capitalize a business.

Larger companies will shift work to offices in other states. Some CA employees will simply see their hours cut to 32/week. It's an idiotic idea.

Another Boom for Texas. This should add about another $50k value to my house. With COTA (F1), and Tesla down the street, and Samsung building a $17B chip plant 10 minutes up the street, I'm really glad I left California 20 years ago. Thanks California.

I am thoroughly convinced that Demon-Rats cannot have more than 6 working brain cells (and the Demon-Rat legislators in Cuba-fornica don't have 6 working brain cells between them). They are the stupidest and most evil people on Earth.
What is Cuba-fornia going to do when there are no companies left to employee anyone, and all the rich folks are gone too!!! I guess they honestly believe those magical unicorns are going to bring them lots of tax dollars to pay for all their massive social spending!!!

Overtime was the reason companies went to 32-hour weeks so their employees were not given full-time status that comes with benefits, including overtime. Now here they are; the current 32-hour week is now the new 40-hour week. Companies can’t win with socialists in charge.

Written by a true California bureaucrat. Never employed anyone, never had to make payroll, never had to actually produce anything, ne er had any of his own money in the game. Is this to create hourly work for all of the illegals who will be looking for jobs? Every California resident gets to sacrifice 8 hours of work/pay so illegals can get jobs (unless your are on salary).

Great way to ensure that no employer offers more than 32 hours of work per week - an effective 20% salary decrease.

How quaint. Even Wally World has compressed schedules. Is this where it's coming from? If so, Wally World currently has a big problem trying to entice workers to work for them.

Well that's not fair ! Why not extend the rule to small companies and private employment?
Bc that would apply to Dems gardeners , chauffers n domestic help. You know, all the folks still wearing masks on the dem plantations.

Well, when you close the doors for good or move the company out of state, be sure to tell your employees that voting Democrat is why they just lost their job.

One thing it will do is cause a lot of companies to reduce their headcount if they can get below 500. Many will divide up into multiple smaller companies. Large headquarters will move out of state. If your employer moves from CA to Texas please remember this is a very bad place to live for woke progressives. We cling to our bibles and guns and most of us have an SUV.

So it worked in Iceland! That’s good enough fo the dumb left wingers la la land.
The problem is where do the Icelandic companies go? They stay put because every company in ice
And will be forced to follow the same rules. In the USA there are 49 other states that are not as stupid as California that a company can move to. The more California does this crap the fewer people California has and fewer people means less representative power they have in congress.

I've said for years that the California legislature is out of control. I rest my case. Dem legislators can do anything they want, and they do it regularly.

Why stop there? Require private sector workers to put in a solid 3 hours or so of work a week, leaving them plenty of time to write poetry or play music, or even surf. Every employer should back this too, seeing how they're the wokest of the woke.
