An elderly couple on a cross-country road trip has vanished “into thin air” somewhere in the Nevada desert. Ronnie Barker, 72, and his wife Beverly Barker, 69, left Oregon on their way to Tuscon more than a week ago but “It is literally like they fell off the face of the earth, like they just vanished,” the couple’s daughter, Jennifer Whaley, told KVVU. “We have hope, but as each day goes by, it’s very hard to stay positive. We’re trying.” They were last observed in surveillance camera footage on Sunday 27 March driving along Highway 95 in a 32-foot Forest

Looks like desolate country out there. Maybe they took a trip on a side road and got stuck. A 32 foot camper isn’t built for off road. I hope they’re found soon.

This is like a bad straight-to-video horror movie with inbred cannibals. They’re in our age bracket, so I hope they’ll be ok.

With all the advances of DNA and in most areas video surveillance, it very hard to get away with crimes and even harder to be a serial criminal. A 32-foot sunseeker motor home is a big Class C it can stay gone for to long you would think. But it an open desolate country in some areas of Nevada. I pray for their safe return.

Has anyone checked Galt's Gulch?
I'm not trying to make light of a potentially serious situation, and I sincerely hope the couple is doing well. But the idea of completely falling off the radar has its appeal.

Let's hope that they are all right.
Being elderly myself, I realize that there are predators out there who must be watched out for. Being armed and alert on the road is important.
Not everyone is a nice person.

Yeah, that area is sparsely populated and not a lot of traffic passes through the Coaldale area. Somebody wanted their rig? A 32-foot FR Sunseeker is a large Class C and would not disguise easily. The backroad from Coaldale into Goldfield, Highway 265 is worth a look. Part of it paved but the rest is gravel. I hope for a good ending on this case.

Yes correct name, #6. Correct name is actually Silver Peak which is in fact on Highway 265 between Coaldale and Goldfield. Last time I was through there, Coaldale and Silver Peak were ghost towns so not much help to be had out there and not much cell signal.

Indianapolis tv news station WTHR Channel 13 reported that the couple was found on a mountain west of Silver Peak. Ronnie Barker was dead. His wife Beverly was still alive and transported to a Reno hospital. No other details were reported.

I have heard it's better to stay with the vehicle if it's in full view. They may have been low on supplies. We have a weeks worth of non perishables in our rig at all times. It's our bug-out-box.
I've read too many stories of people who went for help and the searchers find the ones left behind but find the bodies of the ones who went for help.

As elderly we are travel trailer campers you don't venture out with love for fellow men anymore. It's dangerous, carry supplies carry a firearm or three. I do my wife does even sitting outside at night by a campfire. In the high country while in a tent I carried a rife for big game big animal predators are a danger too. Traveling/camping is not for the faint of heart or the unprepared it can be dangerous for the elderly. I hope this couple is found safe.

I don't know these particular roads, but I'm betting they are washboard, tough on suspension and tires. I've had a blowout in Utah under similar circumstances. A mechanical breakdown is also a real possibility. Get in the Kia to drive for help, make a wrong turn...easy to get lost, and without a cell signal...
