Mitt Romney is insane to vote to confirm

Mitt Romney is thoroughly damaged by Trump derangement. This has been evident for a long time over the last four years, but his vote to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson is a bridge too far. For a man of the Mormon faith to accept a judge who is perennially partial to purveyors of child pornography is incomprehensible. How does a man with five sons and twenty-four grandchildren suffer from the same blind spot as Judge Jackson? Only his hatred of all things Trumpian, like common sense, can explain such an appalling breach of American values, let alone Mormon values. He is a carpetbagger, but he represents the state

Comments:

Some of my old LDS friends in Nashville would, I believe, call Willard a "jack Mormon."

Romney is really just a Democrat and since the liberal Left (i.e. Democrats) are mentally ill, it is not a stretch to say Romney is insane.

Here's my take on Romney's vote: Democrats, through the NYT and WaPo, are signaling that Joe must Go. The rational way is to move Kamala out first, but if they wait until mid-terms and Republicans retake the Senate, Dems lose the ability to replace her. If she resigns before the mid-terms, (perhaps through a come-to-Obama moment) that leaves the Senate tied 50-50. Shumer would need one Republican vote. Now who could that be, assuming a "moderate" like Amy Klobuchar is waiting in the wings?

He obviously thinks he has a shot at the White House. If the Swamp knows what they knew before about blocking Trump's return via voter fraud, then they are smugly going to wait out DJT and allow Romney to emerge as the moderate unifier. His daddy issues involve white house envy.

Mitt mistakenly believes he can adopt an old, effete set of "gentlemen's" parliamentary rules when it suits him as though the opposition would do the same with a conservative nominee. This is not an 18th century gentleman's battle, with a bewigged Willard Mitt Romney relaxing in a campaign chair while he looks out on two neatly organized rows of opposing soldiers patiently waiting for tea time to be over so they can continue shooting each other. The war of the progressive left is down and dirty. They will not relent until they have destroyed our republic.

Mitt Romney doesn’t have a conservative bone in his body. He is all about Mitt Romney and Mitt Romney’s personal opinions. His constituents mean nothing. He thinks he was elected to promote his personal agenda - not to represent the voters. If they re-elect this fool in Utah they are harming the entire country. Please don’t.

The RINO Romney will run for President again in the next presidential election and will not stand a chance of winning the Republican primary against DeSantis or Trump, so following that, the next Democrat nominee for President may well pick Romney as his or her running mate on a claimed bi-partisan ticket. The only downside there is that the Democrats from now on must have a Black politician on their ticket and Romney does not fit that “equity” qualification.

There are sick, twisted "members" of every religion, and Romney and the late, not so great Harry Reid are two that most Mormons are disgusted by. Imagine being so twisted by Trump Derangement Syndrome that you have to go out of your way to try and spite the conservative movement. Do I hold Mormonism to account for the actions of Romney? Hell No. As a (lapsed) Catholic, having worked with many LDS members, I can say that, nearly to a man (and woman), that they are some of the best, charitable people you could ever know, and befriend.

Fox News Doctored Clips of Obama’s Visit

Barack Obama visited the White House for the first time since he left office on Tuesday. He was there to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, as well as to watch President Biden sign an executive order aimed at improving the law. Obama’s return created plenty of commotion, and for Fox News and the rest of the right-wing ecosphere, a fresh opportunity to cast Biden as a weaker, watered-down version of the former president. The Republican National Committee shared two clips of the visit that quickly went viral. The first shows an ostensibly confused Biden ambling around the stage as Obama holds court behind him.

Joe Biden does not seem steady on his feet or clear in his mind, and at this stage the same might be said for the country he nominally governs. His unforced errors, some of which have an oddly deliberate ring to them, may have rendered the November midterms and the 2024 presidential election entirely moot. Whether the nation can remain socially, politically, and economically intact even for the next few months is an open question. Biden is a fool, but there is cunning in his folly. A frugal mind may be capable of great wiliness, and blunders may curiously work in an unintentional way to promote intentional policy.

During his first few days as President, Joe Biden named Robert Malley as his U.S. Special Envoy for Iran. Malley has a long history of antipathy toward Israel, as well as a profoundly deep reserve of patience with Iran and other enemies of the Jewish state. Most notably, he helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal of 2015 — known officially as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — and he subsequently opposed the Trump Administration’s “maximum pressure” sanctions against Tehran. From the start of his tenure with the Biden Administration, Malley called for the U.S. to return to the JCPOA as swiftly as possible,

A number of city officials from Tampa, Florida were in attendance at the 23rd Annual Islamic Charity Festival, held in March, to show their support for the festival’s organizer, the Tampa Bay Muslim Alliance (TBMA), and those involved in the event. Representing one of the festival’s sponsors, the Islamic Community of Tampa (ICT), was Hatem Fariz, a convicted member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). While Fariz’ participation should be seen as a ‘red line’ not to be crossed by those in government looking to connect with Muslims, other festival participants have backgrounds that are nearly as radical, and TBMA, itself, has ties to PIJ beyond Fariz.

Per InstaPundit, the Left is up in arms because conservatives are referring to the forced sexualization of five, six and seven year old children in the public schools as “grooming.” You can always tell when we have hit on an effective theme: the Left declares it out of bounds. John Nolte has more, beginning with a response to David French, who likened the forced sexualization of small children to Donald Trump participating in a Playboy video. Right. Whatever the topic, talk about Trump instead. Links in the original are omitted here: [I]f discussing sex with little kids behind their parents’ backs is not grooming, what is?

One of the most frequently asked questions in these uncertain times, often uttered without the expectation of a definite answer, is “what’s going to happen next?” The honest answer is no one really knows. The failure of zero Covid, the Afghan collapse before the Taliban, the unexpected energy dependency of Europe on Russian gas, and the stubborn failure of Ukraine to collapse before the Putin blitz caught the experts by surprise and shows all too clearly the limits of prediction. Gone for now is the touching belief the policymakers had in models. For a time, due to the impressive increase in computing power, confidence in models

Pope Francis, a leading advocate of Doormat Christianity, is at it again, trying to reverse nearly two millennia of Christian doctrine, by preaching total passivity—even against violent aggression. On March 18, 2022, Francis declared before an audience that “A war is always—always!—the defeat of humanity, always. We, the educated, who work in education, are defeated by this war, because on another side we are responsible.” So far, all well and good, if only because such lofty but impotent words are expected. But then Francis went so far as to say, “There is no such thing as a just war: they do not exist!” That is a remarkably dangerous claim, of similar naïve thinkers—

A federal judge has thrown out an obstruction charge against a defendant charged with breaching the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, a ruling that could reverberate across hundreds of cases stemming from the attack on Congress. In a 29-page opinion issued Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Carl Nichols ruled that ambiguities in the federal obstruction law required him to narrow the case against defendant Garret Miller, who is facing multiple felony charges connected to the attack. Under that narrow interpretation, Nichols ruled, defendants can be charged with obstruction only if they directly attempt to affect “a document, record, or other object” in order to hamper

The bond market is telling us that the Fed is in very serious trouble. Bonds are quite complicated, so I’m going to do my best to keep things very simple here. The Fed ended its Quantitative Easing (QE) program through which it prints new money and used it to buy assets from Wall Street in early March. Since that time, the Fed has also begun raising interest rates, implementing its first rate hike of 0.25% on March 17th. Historically, when the Fed begins raising interest rates, it looks to the 2-Year U.S. Treasury for guidance: the Fed tracks the yield on this bond as a proxy for where rates need to go.
