New York Governor Kathy Hochul will soon release a budget that likely will include a plan to make New York the first state to ban natural gas and other fossil fuels in new construction, according to Food & Water Watch and other environmental groups. Officials at the governor's office said Hochul was working with the legislature to finalize the budget, but could not say when they would reach an agreement. (Snip) The gas industry has warned that giving up on gas would boost consumer costs because electric heat is much more expensive. With the economy recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic

Comments:

This woman is a kook. When given the choice, most people want natural gas for heating, cooking, and water heaters.

Governor, you can't supply enough electricity on a hot summer day as it is. Up state is gonna love you when the power lines go down in an ice storm and you freeze in the dark, and can't cook.

Progressives are all about CONTROL. If they don't like your politics, your religion, your jaywalking, your ammo preferences, your vote, your donations, your DIET, they can cut off your "juice" with a keystroke. Sounds just like China to me where they can visit you because your facial recognition analysis says that you are unhappy. Who could possibly be unhappy there? Land of the Free here, comrade? Progressives are in the process of dismantling America. Who will stop the subversion?

Think! 65% of our electricity comes from burning Natural Gas to boil water to turn a turbine (with losses), transmit electricity over power lines (with losses), to boil a pot of water at home. It takes far less Natural Gas to just use it to boil the water at home! This measure is guaranteed to do the opposite of what they say it's for. They aren't that stupid, (no one is that stupid)... So what is this REALLY about?

Someone in that fraudulent administration needs to take a Physics Class and study the laws of Thermodynamics. In a short sentence, every time you convert energy you lose efficiency. Gas to make electricity and then electricity requires more gas than to actually burn gas to heat a home at the same temperature for the same amount of time

President Joe Biden on Tuesday blamed Republicans and the Russian invasion of Ukraine for soaring US inflation, in a bid to deflect voter anger over his inability to keep prices down. Speaking to trade unions in Philadelphia on the eve of the Federal Reserve's likely decision to raise interest rates again, Biden said inflation is "sapping the strength of a lot of families." Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday it will move its global headquarters from Illinois to an existing divisional office in Irving, Texas, in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, in another blow to the Chicago area, which last month lost the Boeing Co. headquarters. The move is “in the best strategic interest of the company,” Chief Executive Jim Umpleby said in a statement. The heavy-machinery maker has had a presence in Texas since the 1960s, it said. Even with the move, Illinois has the largest concentration of Caterpillar employees anywhere in the world, the company said. The headquarters was historically in downstate Peoria, Ill.

Philadelphia resident Latanya Byrd's 27-year-old niece Samara Banks and three of Banks' sons were struck and killed by a speeding driver in 2013. They were crossing Roosevelt Boulevard, a 12-lane road that passes through some of the city's most diverse and lowest-income neighborhoods. "It was just so devastating," Byrd told ABC News. "We lost two generations in one swoop. I mean, just an instant snap of the finger." As the local population has swelled, Byrd said outdated transportation infrastructure -- grass paths instead of pavements, dangerously short pedestrian signal cycles, overcrowded bus stops, to name a few -- can partially explain why

Prices jumped 1% in the one-month period from April. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.7% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists. The Washington state Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that a person’s race, and law enforcement’s long history of discrimination against people of color, should be taken into account when determining the legality of police seizures. The court also clarified state law to say police have seized a person if an objective observer would conclude that the person was not free to leave or refuse a request. But, the court wrote, that “objective observer” must be aware that discrimination and biases “have resulted in disproportionate police contacts, investigative seizures, and uses of force against Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.”
