Biden’s ‘absolute’ defense of Hunter
leaves media and Justice Department in
a muddle

“We absolutely stand by the president’s comment.” With those words, White House communications director Kate Bedingfield reaffirmed that President Biden maintains his son Hunter Biden did “nothing [that] was unethical” and never “made money” in China. Those claims appear demonstrably false — and they make the positions of both the media and Attorney General Merrick Garland absolutely untenable. For the media, the ongoing investigation of Hunter Biden by U.S. Attorney David Weiss in Delaware has presented a growing danger of self-indictment over its prior coverage (or noncoverage). Weiss has called a long line of witnesses before a grand jury, and there is growing expectation of criminal charges against Hunter Biden.

It shouldn’t. There is plenty of evidence to show that Hunter played fast and loose with tax laws and evidence of other crimes have emerged from his own laptop. Outside every prison death chamber is a weeping mother vowing that her son was a good boy who never did anything wrong. Joe’s doing his fatherly version should not confuse or corrupt the DoJ and the media.

FTA: Thus, The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN and other media faced the embarrassing prospect of an indictment based on a story they previously suggested was either a nonstory or Russian disinformation. Suddenly, in recent days, they all rushed to declare the story legitimate, 18 months after the New York Post reported it in October 2020. What quickly emerged, though, was a new narrative: None of this implicates President Biden. On CNN, White House correspondent John Harwood declared, “There is zero evidence that Vice President Biden, or President Biden, has done anything wrong in connection with what Hunter Biden has done.” Anchor Brianna Keilar then added for emphasis that Harwood was making “an important distinction.” It was important, but not because it was true. The only one making a “muddle” of it is Joe himself (essentially taking the 5th via his defense of Hunter). All the press secretaries and sychophantic media anchors can change what will soon emerge: Hunter’s indictment(s). And pretty serious stuff against Joe. No basement can hide him than.

Hit submit too soon. At what point will Joe have to resign or throw his own son under the bus - call Hunter a liar - to try to save his own skin. Joe should do the right thing and resign. But when has he ever done the right thing?

The President is exactly correct to say that Hunter never "made" money in China just like he never made money in Ukraine... To "make" money would require work, adding value through some physical or mental effort. The Big Guy is perfectly comfortable with his statement.

Dems have no ethics, so they cannot be unethical. Also, I suspect the money came from/into offshore accounts, not in China so the Bidens made no money "in" China. Clintonspeak 101.

Hunter's ex wife is on the record saying that he blew through tons of money doing drugs and hiring prostitutes. So where is all his money coming from? Even today Hunter rents a $20,000/month seaside 'cottage' although he seems incapable of working in a sandwich shop.

The employees of the Twitter social media platform are taking a Monday siesta following the tumultuous upheaval brought on by the introduction of Tesla’s Elon Musk as a shareholder. The previous plan was for the company to host a town hall between Musk and staff, to ensure everyone was on the same page about the business agenda going forward. But that has changed now that Musk isn’t going to be on Twitter’s board of directors. "Employees have a previously-scheduled day of rest today, which is well-timed, as the vibe is super stressed, they tell us," said Sarah Frier of Bloomberg. The vibe described within Frier’s article on the matter

According to the Daily Wire, Vivek Ramaswamy sat down with John Bickley and Georgia Howe on the “Morning Wire” podcast where he revealed that Musk’s recent denial of a board seat on Twitter is likely Musk attempting to own over 15 percent of the company, or in other words, a “hostile takeover” over the social media brand overall. They’re citing analysts from FactSet that expect the new number to be 8.4 percent, the highest inflation rate since December 1981. That’s up from the rate from last month, which was 7.9 percent. Some of that will be reflecting the high gas prices that have since moderated somewhat. However, even without counting gas and food, the forecast is 6.6 percent, the highest since August 1982. Tesla CEO Elon Musk declined a seat on Twitter’s board of directors after becoming the platform’s largest shareholder with a massive 9.2 percent stake. But this move could end up signifying an even greater play by Musk to seize control of the platform, according to CNBC. Leftist Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted late April 10 that the world’s richest man “decided not to join our board.” Agrawal seemed to admit the quiet part out loud when he said that having Musk “as a fiduciary of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward.”
