Whitmer is waning: Poll

With November’s midterm elections approaching, Michigan voters are hesitant to reelect Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. An MRG-commissioned Michigan poll found that only 34% of the state’s voters support Whitmer’s reelection, while 59% are open to supporting someone else for governor come this fall. “The people of Michigan are sick and tired of politicians saying one thing and doing another and will not forget Whitmer's policy decisions that have hurt them, despite her attempts to gaslight the public,” Eric Ventimiglia, executive director for Michigan Rising Action, told the Washington Examiner.

Comments:

She's down to around Joe Biden's numbers. Can't wait for the red tsunami in November.

James Craig will be a formidable opponent and is well known in Detroit. He had a very positive influence on the city and the police force. Good man.

Well Craig is African-American. So he may garner at least the Black male vote in Detroit and the White Karen vote because it would be racist not to vote for him

Well, I am not surprised. After all, there are FBI agents roaming the state getting people high on Mary Jane and talking them into taking criminal action against that woman (and I know what a woman is.) If that's any indication.

The number of teenagers identifying as transgender has exploded. Advocates say it protects young people from marginalization. Some experts, however, many of whom consider themselves survivors, warn against treating adolescent confusion with drugs and surgeries that have irreversible physical and psychological effects. In the second part of this series, the Washington Examiner speaks to the mothers affected. Abby Martinez tried to fight back when a Los Angeles school, county social workers, and an LGBT group sought to transition her confused 15-year-old daughter.

Liberals in Congress are pressing President Joe Biden to invoke emergency powers to push ahead with Democrats' climate change agenda and to put new restrictions on fossil fuels, even while gasoline remains at its highest per-gallon price on record. With legislation stalled in Congress, the nearly 100-member Congressional Progressive Caucus released a slate of policy recommendations Thursday for Biden to pursue, calling on him to use executive action to deal with a list of topics his "Build Back Better" agenda sought to address, including the development of more green energy technologies and placement of restrictions on new fossil fuel production.

Former President Donald Trump is effectively ruling out tapping former Vice President Mike Pence as his running mate should he mount a third White House bid in 2024 and win the Republican nomination. “I don’t think the people would accept it,” Trump told the Washington Examiner Tuesday evening during a wide-ranging telephone interview from Mar-a-Lago, his private social club and political headquarters in Palm Beach, Florida. The former president cited friction stemming from the aftermath of the 2020 election, suggesting their differences are too stark to overcome. Trump claimed the contest was stolen and wanted Pence to overturn the results during the congressional certification of President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory.

He welcomes debate and the exchange of ideas, he’s adamantly opposed to cancel culture, and he also has a keen sense of rationality about him. Goldman Sachs slashed its U.S. growth forecast and is warning that a recession could occur after Russia invaded Ukraine. The financial services giant cut its forecast gross domestic product growth for the United States to 1.75% this year after previously forecasting a 2% increase in GDP. The downgrade comes as Russian forces continue their invasion of Ukraine, a war that has resulted in soaring energy prices and crippling sanctions for Moscow. “We now see the risk that the U.S. enters a recession during the next year as broadly in line with the 20-35% odds currently implied by models based on the slope of the yield curve,”

President Joe Biden's response to the Russia-Ukraine war has boosted his popularity, yet pollsters warn that the reprieve may be brief before November's midterm elections. The bloody conflict between Russia and Ukraine, half a world away, has created "a short-term bottom" for public opinion of Biden, according to Suffolk University pollster David Paleologos. "Prior to the State of the Union address, approval ratings in the high 30s were a regular occurrence," the Suffolk University Political Research Center director told the Washington Examiner. "Since the State of the Union, Biden's approval has settled into the low to mid-40s, suggesting a short-term bump."

In August, when Joe Biden oversaw one of the worst military disasters in American history – otherwise known as the Afghanistan withdrawal – it was clear that the US, and indeed the world, would be feeling the negative repercussions for years. The full force of those consequences is already been felt in Ukraine, and we’re beginning to see other side effects with Taiwan. And just when we thought things couldn’t get any worse, here comes Kim Jung Un to get in on the act in North Korea. The collateral damage from the Afghanistan debacle was widespread. After eighteen consecutive months with zero combat casualties, Biden’s abandonment last summer

After Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau cracked down on protestors in his own country and sent his henchwoman, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, to freeze the assets of protesting truck drivers and their supporters, he traveled to Brussels to speak to the European Parliament. His theme was the threats to democracy posed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the growing distrust of governments in the West in the face of economic uncertainty. But Joe was upbeat: According to CNBC: President Joe Biden said Thursday that he would consider himself “very fortunate” if former President Donald Trump runs against him for a second time in the 2024 election for the White House.
