NPR was ridiculed on Wednesday for its take on emojis and how some can supposedly denote white privilege. The article, headlined "Which skin color emoji should you use? The answer can be more complex than you think," claimed that white people using the common yellow-handed, thumbs-up emoji can actually suggest ignorance of white privilege. Its authors were Alejandra Marquez Jans, Asma Khalid and Patrick Jarenwattananon. "I completely hear some people are just exhausted [from] having to do that. Many people of color have to do that every day and are confronted with race every day,"

Two FBI officials who briefed Facebook's parent company, Meta, about Hunter Biden's laptop also donated to Democrats in 2020, campaign finance records show.
The findings are connected to a lawsuit from states claiming the federal government colluded with social media firms to censor free speech. And the agents – FBI Foreign Influence Task Force Chief Laura Dehmlow and FBI San Francisco Cyber Division Chief Elvis Chan – are each named in the suit.
A court filing in connection with the suit alleges that Chan and Dehmlow were "involved in the communications between the FBI and Meta that led to Facebook's suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story."
Planned Parenthood is speaking out against the Marilyn Monroe film Blonde for showing two graphic forced abortion scenes and a CGI baby asking, “you won’t hurt me this time, will you?”
Planned Parenthood has called the film “anti-abortion propaganda.”

LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva on Wednesday evening asked California Attorney General Rob Bonta to open an investigation into Democrat Supervisor Sheila Kuehl being tipped off that a search warrant was going to be served at her home. According to The Boston Globe, officials in Martha’s Vineyard are holding an emergency meeting to deal with the crisis of 43 illegal alien arrivals, including one four-year-old child. According to state representative Dylan Fernandes, “when you look at the limited housing options on Martha’s Vineyard, as I’m sure many of the folks here are aware, it’s likely we’re going to need an off island location.”

Two stories in the news strike a common chord: the need to stop infantilizing minority, especially black, populations. The first comes from the world of sports and involves the familiar racial hate incident hoax. Briefly, the Duke women’s volleyball team played a match at Brigham Young University, and lost. After the match, the godmother of one of the Duke players, who is black, tweeted that someone in the BYU crowd had yelled the “N-word” at her goddaughter when she was serving. It turned out that she (the godmother) is a virulent anti-white racist (“These white folks ain’t never had they ass kicked, but they better get used to it”).
Michigan Court of Claims Judge Elizabeth Gleicher ruled the state’s 1931 law that bans abortion, triggered by the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, is unconstitutional.
Gleicher said the law violates the Michigan Constitution’s Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses.
“Despite that men play [a] necessary role in the procreative process, the law deprives only women of their ability to thrive as contributing participants in [the] world outside the home and as parents of wanted children," Gleicher wrote.

The lawsuit accused Yale of violating Lee’s free speech and professional obligations when she was not reappointed to her role with the school. She claims she was fired over her public statements criticizing then-President Donald Trump and his inner circle. Lee blames her termination on a letter sent to Yale by Trump’s friend Alan Dershowitz.
Dr. Lee was not considered a staff member or employee of Yale University. She was a voluntary, unpaid staff member.

"The Army plans to increase its investment in marketing and is expected to expand a new program for struggling recruits, but leaders on Monday offered few new details on how they’ll fill the ranks after falling far short of recruiting goals this year," the Associated Press reports. "Army Secretary Christine Wormuth told reporters that a new recruiting task force is coming up with ideas. The family of a 17-year-old who died over the summer says she passed away from sudden heart problems.
Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) and his wife said in a statement that Gwen Casten died in June of a sudden cardiac arrhythmia.
“In layman’s terms, she was fine, and then her heart stopped,” the grieving parents said. “We don’t know what caused the arrhythmia, and likely never will.”
According to the National Liberty of medicine, arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat. It can refer to a heart that is beating too quickly, too slowly, or with an otherwise irregular pattern.
