Pelosi urges US Olympians not to anger

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday urged US athletes competing in the Beijing Winter Olympics to keep mum on China’s human rights abuses because the country’s government is “ruthless.”Pelosi issued the warning during testimony at a Congressional-Executive Commission on China. She acknowledged the US has a moral obligation to condemn the rights violations – but insisted the Olympic games were not the proper venue for athletes to voice their concerns.“If we do not speak out against human rights violations in China, because of commercial interests, we lose all moral authority to speak out against human rights violations anywhere,” Pelosi said.

How Craven Pelosi is. Remember Medal of Honor recipient and Senator Jeremiah Denton? As a prisoner of war in Hanoi, he blinked the word T-O-R-T-U-R-E during a press interview to show that he wouldn't be bullied by our enemies. Now Pelosi's advice to fellow Americans is not to offend their Chinese hosts. How far the mighty have fallen.

FTA: "She acknowledged the US has a moral obligation to condemn the rights violations – but insisted the Olympic games were not the proper venue for athletes to voice their concerns." This coming from a foul witch who's morally corrupt and spiritually bankrupted since her birth. Plus the olympians for centuries have voiced their concerns and played politics at the medal stands.

From the standpoint of avoiding confrontation and legal harassment, Pelosi is probably right: The Olympians should avoid criticizing the Chinese communists and their abuse of their own people. But it still begs the question: Why are we there in the first place? As much as I'd like to see the site of China (the people I've met are marvelous), I will not go there. These days, the Wuhan flu is an obvious reason. But I cannot tolerate how its government treats its people -- especially people of faith, both Christian and Muslim alike.

It really does seem like something out of a modern-day Monty Python skit. Officials in the city of Quebec City, Canada were fearful the pesky unwashed peasants might make their way to the parliament buildings, so they blocked the passages and sent guards to ensure no one could traverse the ramparts.Good grief, if the politicians only had a drawbridge, you could be sure they would have pulled it up to keep the peasants away and survive the siege.
