This discussion on the special “Second Opinion” panel that Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) hosted is a perfect example of one of the root problems in the American response to the covid pandemic: The press. Johnson organized world-renowned doctors and medical experts to offer a different perspective on the pandemic: global pandemic response, the current state of knowledge of early and hospital treatment, vaccine efficacy and safety, what went right, what went wrong, what should be done now, and what needs to be addressed long term. The panel discussion was held this Monday, and the 5-hour discussion is via the link HERE.

In a foreshadowing of America’s future under coercive secularism, a Finnish politician and Finnish bishop will go on criminal trial next week for merely upholding historic Christian teaching on sexual morality. The trial is a telling measure of the erosion of Christianity in Europe. Juhana Pohjola, a Lutheran bishop, and Päivi Räsänen, a member of Finland’s Parliament, stand accused of an act increasingly forbidden in the de-Christianized West: quoting the Bible.(Snip)Six Republican members of Congress have called on the U.S. government’s religious commission to condemn Finland for this trial. But that will never happen.

On 24 January, Päivi Räsänen, a doctor, a mother of five and a grandmother of seven, will appear before a Finnish court. WASHINGTON – More than 180 U.S. congressional lawmakers sent a letter to Republican congressional leadership to support their commitment to maintain the Hyde Amendment and other protections for the preborn in government spending legislation. In initial spending legislation for 2022, Democrats intentionally removed long-standing protections for the preborn in their bid to fund the government. The Hyde Amendment, the most well-known of these safeguards, which prohibits direct taxpayer funding for most abortions, was replaced with pro-abortion provisions to advance the practice.(Snip)The 181 congressmen insist that in order for any appropriations legislation to pass, all traditional and long-standing protections for preborn life must be retained.

In August, Germany's top newspaper, Bild, apologized for the outlet's fear-driven Covid coverage--with special message to children, who were told "that they were going to murder their grandma." Now, a newspaper in Denmark has publicly apologized for reporting government narratives surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic without questioning them. "We failed," reads the article's headline from tabloid Ekstra Bladet, which goes on to admit that "For ALMOST two years, we--the press and the population--have been almost hypnotically preoccupied with the authorities' daily coronavirus figures." [translated] (Snip) Will other news outlets have the journalistic integrity to follow suit?

Iran’s imposition of “sanctions” on dozens of Americans amounts to an assassination threat against members of former President Donald Trump’s administration, according to a senior U.S. official who threatened “severe consequences” for any harm done to them. “Make no mistake: the United States of America will protect and defend its citizens,” White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday. “This includes those serving the United States now and those who formerly served.” Iranian officials have made explicit their interest in killing one of the people involved in the U.S. strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Iran has vowed ‘revenge’ if former U.S. President Donald Trump and ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are not put on trial for the 2020 drone strike that killed its top terrorist operative Qassem Soleimani. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi demanded the former U.S. president face judgment according to Islamic law and called upon all Muslims to avenge Soleimani’s killing. “Trump must face ‘God’s ruling’ and suffer ‘qisas’, which is the Islamic term for retaliation in kind,” Al Jazeera reported citing the Iranian president’s televised speech that marked Soleimani’s second death anniversary.

Members of our military pledge their loyalty to the Constitution. Its First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion. So, it would be perverse to force men and women in uniform to abandon their deeply held religious beliefs to serve their country. Yet that’s what’s happening regarding the COVID-19 vaccine mandates--for which the normal rules seem not to apply.(Snip)But whatever your view, this is clearly an ethical and theological dispute. The military is denying requests for religious exemptions because ill-informed officials disagree with the theological views of service members under their command.

As we get closer to the two-year mark of “two weeks to flatten the curve,” it is evident that the panic-driven policies issued by “experts” and promoted by the establishment media have a wide array of very damaging, unintended consequences. One group that has been collateral damage in this “war on COVID” has been school-age children. Teachers demanded school lockdown and remote learning.(Snip)Inevitably, this pandemic will end. When the damage is assessed, those who pressed for the closure of schools (including those in the media) should face a very harsh set of consequences themselves.

ALBERTA, Canada – This time last year I wrote about how lockdowns enacted by government overlords should not get in the way of spending time with your family.(Snip)Lockdowns it seems always come before one of the holiest times of the year, that being Christmas and Easter.(Snip) Our faith leaders along with the Vatican itself have used the language that taking the abortion tainted COVID shots somehow amounts to loving one’s neighbour.(Snip)Jesus did not discriminate when he tended to the sick, the sinners, the outcast, the destitute. Jim Jordan doth protest too much.(Snip) Jordan is quite familiar with weaponizing congressional investigations to go after those he considers his enemies...(Snip)Jordan and most of his fellow Republicans seem desperate to keep under wraps what Trump and his allies were up to as democracy itself was under attack. That’s why they opposed even creating the Jan. 6 committee. That’s why they’re braying about executive privilege and painting Meadows as a victim of vengeful Democrats. That’s why they’re downplaying the severity of the attack, dismissing it as a tourist visit or “one day in January,” as former Vice President Mike Pence put it.

The “Select Committee” of Democrats and two “Republicans” to investigate the January 6 riot is an abuse of power but typical for how efficient Democrats are at weaponizing their congressional power. Mark Meadows, former Trump Chief of Staff, has been held in contempt by the Democrat-controlled House for failing to turnover all documents subpoeanaed by the Committee, sending a referral for prosecution.(Snip)The politically corrupted DOJ likely will oblige under the unfit rule of Merrick Garland.(Snip)
But it’s not just about overbreadth of the subpoena. Meadows challenges the validity of the committee as constituted by Pelosi.
