U.K. anti-terrorism police arrested two more men in Manchester Wednesday in connection with their investigation of a British man who took Jewish worshippers hostage at a Texas synagogue.
Four of the six arrested are still in custody. He was heard on the synagogue’s Facebook livestream demanding the release of Aafia Siddiqui, also known as "Lady Al Qaeda," a Pakistani national imprisoned in Fort Worth for allegedly trying to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Two teenagers were detained in South Manchester the day after the Texas incident, but both were later released without charges after three nights in custody. Reports said they were Akram’s sons.

“Well, at least it can’t get any worse than this,” Joe Biden is thinking as he scans this Monmouth poll. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, Vladimir Putin picks up the phone and gives the “go” order to his generals outside Ukraine…
Coupla real gut punches for Democrats in this new data from Monmouth. Biden has reached the lowest job approval of his presidency in their polling to date, crossing the political Mendoza line by falling from 40 percent last month to 39 now. Republicans also lead 51/43 on the generic ballot, an all but unheard of advantage for the GOP at this stage

The Biden administration decided to send all Americans free COVID-19 tests to address the omicron surge. So far, the ordered tests are getting delivered unless you live in an apartment. As our editor Paula Boylard noted, those living in colder parts of the country may also have their tests left out in the cold. The COVID tests are not supposed to be stored in temperatures under 36° F. Fox’s Bill Hemmer received the four tests he ordered and noted another odd feature. According to Fox News:
Hemmer, co-host of “America’s Newsroom,” praised the federal government and the United States Postal Service (USPS)

A fun leftover from yesterday and our latest entry in the Someone Left The Irony On Department. With brinksmanship escalating between the US, the European Union, and Ukraine, CNN’s John Berman asks a solid question: why should Americans care about the fate of this country on the eastern edge of Europe? Jonathan Finer, deputy national security adviser to Joe Biden, says we should be all about enforcing border security and recognizing national sovereignty.
Er .. who wants to tell him?

On Tuesday, Neil Young gave streaming service Spotify an ultimatum.
“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” he told them. “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”
Well, Spotify chose Joe Rogan.
According to a report from Wall Street Journal, the streaming giant is “in the process of removing Neil Young’s music” from the platform.
“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines—potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them.” Spotify chose to honor their $100+ million contract with Rogan

President Biden's approval rating dropped to 41 percent in the latest Pew Research Center survey as the president hemorrhages support with key voting groups.
The Pew survey, published Tuesday, found Biden's approval rating was down from 44 percent in September and significantly lower than the 59 percent approval rating he had in April.
"Biden’s job approval numbers have declined across most demographic groups since September," the survey found.
The Pew survey found Biden's approval had dropped by 7 percentage points

The coming midterm elections are not looking good for Democrats. In fact, short of some kind of divine intervention, Joe Biden’s party is going to get absolutely boat-raced. It could stack up to be a wave election that makes 2010 look like child’s play, and I don’t say that lightly.
In the midst of that hostile environment, numerous Democrat incumbents have announced their retirements, which is usually a sure-fire sign of coming doom. You may recall all the articles from 2018 noting how Republican retirements were a very bad sign. Indeed, they did precede a blue wave, and the reverse is now occurring in 2022.
Just how bad are things?

For the first time in my life, I have a strong feeling that the infanticidal regime established by Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and reinforced by a bevy of stupid and strictly results-oriented decisions might be on the verge of repudiation by a clear majority of the Supreme Court.
There are two major abortion cases before the Supreme Court. One case, arising from Mississippi and called Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, bans abortion after the 15th week for all intents and purposes. The law has been in litigation since enacted, but six justices seemed

New York’s indoor mask mandate for schools and other public locations will remain in effect after an appeals court judge granted a stay on Tuesday, temporarily blocking a ruling from a lower court that struck down the mandate one day earlier.
Justice Robert Miller’s ruling on Tuesday effectively allows the mask requirement to temporarily go back into effect while the state files a formal appeal of the Monday ruling. Another hearing is scheduled on the mask mandate for Friday morning.

Following the fatal shooting of a police officer in Manhattan last week, Mayor Eric Adams on Monday unveiled his new strategy to combat rising gun violence in New York City, starting with the deployment of an anti-gun crime unit next month.
“We will not surrender our city to the violent few,” Adams said.
The city will launch a reinvented version of the plainclothes anti-crime unit, which was disbanded amid the civil unrest prompted by the murder of George Floyd, to emphasize fostering community trust in law enforcement rather than the aggressive crime-fighting tactics that had provoked protest from Black Lives Matter.

News reports on Monday, January 24 state that President Biden has begun to put US troops on high alert that they may be deploying to Eastern Europe and that US troops will be symmetrically deployed to the west of Ukraine opposite Russian forces, thus surrounding the beleaguered nation on both sides.
Nine hundred miles east of the Cold War’s Fulda Gap, Ukraine has become the 21st Century version of the contest arena for the latest test of wills in Europe’s long history of power struggles between the children of the Caucuses.
As of this week, the United States and the European Union are in a race

Up to 8,500 US troops have been put on heightened alert for a possible deployment to Eastern Europe as Russian troops mass on Ukraine's border, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Monday.
But, sources have told WRAL News' Fayetteville reporter, Gilbert Baez, that Fort Bragg troops will be going to Europe. The public affairs officers for Fort Bragg's 18th Airborne Corps and the 82nd Airborne Division said the White House will have to confirm any deployments.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin issued the prepare to deploy orders at the direction of President Joe Biden. Kirby said no final decision to deploy the troops had been made.
