Wellington, New Zealand—When the coronavirus began spreading around the world, the remote Pacific archipelago of Kiribati closed its borders, ensuring the disease didn’t reach its shores for nearly two full years. Kiribati finally began reopening this month, allowing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to charter a plane to bring home 54 of the island nation’s citizens.(Snip)Officials tested each returning passenger three times in nearby Fiji, required that they be vaccinated, and put them in quarantine with additional testing when they arrived home. It wasn’t enough. More than half the passengers tested positive for the virus, which has now slipped out into the community

Comments:

Maybe we each need to be provided with individual prison cells to keep us safe. Oh, and look once again at how well the vaccines do not work.

What they should do is follow Sweden's model and allow herd immunity to develop; what they will do is follow Australia's model and become Nazi Germany...

Government overreach to the nth degree!!! It's a virus. It has to run its course. All the time, expense, and destruction of individual rights and freedoms didn't stop the virus from doing what viruses do. It just postponed the inevitable, and probably made it worse since nobody in that place has any immunity to the virus. So now 98% of the people there will have a mild cold, or no symptoms at all, and the virus will then pass. Proving once again that this was never about public health and everything about how government officials throughout the world used this virus to put the boot on the necks of the peasants to see how far they could control their lives through fear.

So, what are they really doing?

#1 nails it. Let it run, do not use the mRNA shots, and treat with ivermectin and other inexpensive drugs and you'll be through this easily and relatively quickly, especially if this is Omicron.

Doubt this was the last uninfected place on the planet. Most likely there is some tribe somewhere that is hostile to all outsiders, and nobody can approach them. That is the last uninfected place on the planet.

Three teens—two of them already facing gun raps from recent arrests—have been charged after a gang-related shooting inside Brooklyn’s Kings Plaza mall sent shoppers scrambling for cover, police said Tuesday. The shooting wounded two boys. Lockdowns in the U.S. and Europe had little or no impact in reducing deaths from COVID-19, according to a new analysis by researchers at Johns Hopkins University. The lockdowns during the early phase of the pandemic in 2020 reduced COVID mortality by about 0.2%, found the broad review of multiple scientific studies. “We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,” the researchers wrote. But the research paper said lockdowns did have “devastating effects” on the economy and contributed to numerous social ills. “They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest,
