Germany is now ‘dramatically behind’ its CO2 emissions target shortly after it abandoned half of its remaining nuclear plants, calling the tech ‘dangerous’. Germany’s Climate Minister, Robert Habeck has said that Germany is “dramatically behind” its emissions targets for 2030, just weeks after the country abandoned half of its remaining nuclear power plants. Habeck now says that the country has a “gigantic task” ahead should it still wish to achieve its goal of making itself climate neutral. According to a report by Euronews, a sudden surge in the country’s emissions is in part a result of the nation’s decision to abandon nuclear power by the end of 2022.

Nuclear power plants are so "dangerous" - - that in the 70 or so years they've been operative - - only one communist plant - - Chernobyl - - has ever killed anyone. Not one German has ever died because of a nuclear power plant accident.
Please name another technology which has killed fewer people in the past 70 years. Even vacuum cleaners have probably killed more people. The whole "climate" thing is just another communist power grab.

If Germany’s Climate Minister, Robert Habeck, thinks his country has a “gigantic task” ahead just wait to hear what he has to say after Germany's nuclear plants have been shutdown, causing Germany to increase its reliance on coal-fired power plants, and increasing electric power bills across Germany. This brilliant solution to play catch-up on Germany's CO2 emissions target by replacing nuclear with coal makes sense only to leftist radical "save-the-planet ideologues.

Guess unicorn farts and fairy dust isn't producing the power that was expected. Soon, they will be back to burning sticks and peat for warmth.

Nuclear is the best possible source, IF you buy the fairy tale that carbon dioxide is bad.
In reality, increased carbon dioxide permits green plants to grow much more rapidly. Carbon dioxide is lower than is ideal for green plant growth now, more would be better for trees, crops, and other plants. NOT harmful.

#6 My rate is $0.39kWh, I read Germany's are $.32 so my bill has them beat. Proof that California Democrat's are dumber than Germany’s. We closed our big San Onofre nuke years before it was due thanks to Sen Boxer and are now paying billions to remove the remains. The future looks pretty dark.

Germans, historically, have always been obedient to the state. Making them covidphobic was easy. Mexicans are passive up to a point, as witnessed in 1810 and 1910. Right now, they’re Covid crazy everywhere I go in the country. Every store has a headzapper to check your temperature

How come the French are so smart that they get 75% of their electricity from nuclear reactors?

Germans are going to have to pull the plug on their fridges. Electricity doesn't just come out of the wall, does it.

What #7 said. Our PG&E peak rate is $0.44 this winter and California still has one last nuclear power plant to destroy.

It is sheer idiocy to shut down a nuke plant, but there may be sinister motives too.

Please explain to the climate totalitarians that when natural gas is burned in a stove, all the heat (multiplied by the transfer efficiency) goes into the skillet being heated. Burning the same natural gas in a steam-cycle power plant has a maximum theoretical efficiency of 50%, and at least when I went through mechanical engineering school, the typical efficiency of a power plant was about 40-45%. Burning the gas to generate electricity, one loses at least half, and in reality, more than half, of the energy.
You end up burning TWICE as much gas to get the same amount of heat into that skillet when the gas is used to generate electricity which is then used to heat the skillet.
Yes, in a power plant, burning natural gas produces less soot, less mess than burning coal.
But I say the Gas should be saved for all the things it can do so well... powering vehicles, cooking, heating homes, heating domestic hot water.... all things that Coal cannot do well.
Use the Coal for the one thing it is really good at..... generating electricity.

Native Germans demand to freeze in their dark hovels while starving, while at the same time providing lavish welfare benefits for New Germans from parts unknown. Evidently so, as they keep electing Marxists whose burning desire is to destroy Germany and the rest of Europe through "green" policies and suicidal immigration policies.
