Lust Is A Public Health Crisis

“Women are the major beneficiaries of getting rid of the hypocritical old notions about sex,” said pornographer Hugh Hefner. Though, he added, “One of the unintended by-products of the women’s movement is the association of the erotic impulse with wanting to hurt somebody.” To put it more precisely, an unintended—but entirely predictable—consequence of the sexual revolution Hefner spearheaded was that it hurt exponentially more than it ostensibly helped. Even the ancients—both East and West—knew that the unchecked proliferation of lustful passions was a recipe for social and political catastrophe

I substitute teach in high school. I can say that every student attending, except a mere handful, own or process a cell phone. Considering the average age of porn exposure is eleven, the thought of all those “red-light districts” in their pockets tells me we lost the war against cultural degradation a long time ago. The author makes an excellent point in stating in essence, that no one can be morally straight and lustful at the same time. I heard a preacher say an immoral man is incapable of making good policy decisions, referring to politicians.

America, most of the world, are here. 2 Timothy 3:1-7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, [ sexual lust ] 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I was in middle school (then referred to as junior high) when the sexual revolution took off. A few years later, the first consequence I saw was a classmate who had sneaked off to NYC to have three abortions by the time she graduated high school in 1971. Here we are 51 years and 60 million abortions later. Those abortions are the result of unrestrained lust much of which is fueled by porn. Speaking of the Old Testament - there is a reason why the book of Leviticus is included.

One thing is for sure. If we still had those "hypocritical old notions", we wouldn't be overwhelmed with abortions and fatherless families. 75% in some cultures.

When Clinton was president, spewing his ignorance that oral wasn't sex, stories popped up about the proliferation of all kinds of STD's in high school kids because they were doing it orally. After all, Clinton said it wasn't sex, and he wouldn't lie to us, right? Hefner and his fellow publishers enabling the sexual revolution did so much harm to society, and our kids are paying the price in so many ways. Especially the ones in public schools who are being preyed on by the teachers in those schools.

I lust as much as anyone but have never abused a woman or had extra marital relations. It all comes down to the self. The analysis is a generalization, probably not faulty but still a generalization.

There was always pornography around but Hefner's Playboy gave it a type of sophisticated acceptance. The early version nudity could be considered mild and artistic but eventually became more revealing and less "tasteful". And it did have entertaing content other than nudity. Larry Flynt's Hustler took nudity to a disgusting animal base level

Porn is dying the death. It's boring and putrid. Tumblr and Pornhub were gigantic and are shriveling. Part of its' draw was the fanaticism of the prudes who hated it and the lack of universal availability during more pristine or libertine times. And the women were a lot more desirable forty years ago. My grandson is 14 and I asked about his interest in it. He said, "I know where it is, but I have other ways to spend my time." The kid is as computer savvy as they come. He would rather look at a beautiful girl in a bathing suit, like back when we had the Sports Illustrated models. We have people wanting to cut their stuff off or mate with animals, and people are concerned about raunchy heterosexual movies. The battle is won if that's the goal. The young men would rather play video games and virtual reality. Many forego relationships with women. The feminists have wrecked everything. Maybe we should haul out those old Penthouses.

Late December, the New York Times reported {LINK} that South Dakota Senator John Thune, the heir apparent to Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, was considering retiring because the Trump influence, the MAGA base, was not in alignment with his corporate and Wall Street donor class worldview. Those who have watched closely know Senator Mitch McConnell has positioned Senator Thune to take over in the Senate (zipper problems not withstanding). The Machiavellian purpose of the positioning is to put Thune in place as a line of defense to protect the interest of the political establishment and the aligned Fourth Branch of Government.

It’s sometimes like pulling teeth, but the nation is making fitful progress toward COVID sanity. Here in New York, Gov. Hochul and (especially) Mayor Adams are refusing to panic amid the Omicron wave, as their teams offer ever more good sense and better information. Glimmers of sanity are even showing in President Biden’s orbit. Plenty of idiocy remains, even on the Supreme Court, where Friday’s hearing on Biden’s vaccine mandate for most US businesses brought some huge whoppers from the liberal wing.

What is wokeism? Is it another political movement, one pushing for equality and social justice in line with Christian faith, or is it something more? Catholics in particular must face and answer this question, as our faith calls us to defend the helpless in the name of Christ. Is woke thinking a duty or a heresy, a friend or an enemy? Archbishop José Gómez, leader of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, recently stepped forward to answer this question factually and faithfully. Woke thinking, Gomez said, is nothing less than a new religion constructed to challenge and destroy traditional Christian faith.

President Biden won the White House promising to resolve the Covid crisis, and prematurely declared victory on July 4th so he could shift attention to his Build Back Better boondoggle. As America’s Covid deaths in his first year exceeded those in President Trump’s last year, liberals are eager to blame conservatives for refusing to “follow the science.” Biden has framed vaccination as self-evident patriotic duty — rather than a personal choice based on risk tolerance and individual circumstances — giving liberals another excuse to feel morally superior. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Thursday called for the lessons of the Jan. 6, 2021, to be heeded as Washington observes the anniversary of the unprecedented Capitol attack, warning that "democracy is fragile." "We ignore the lessons of January 6 at our own peril. Democracy is fragile; it cannot survive without leaders of integrity and character who care more about the strength of our Republic than about winning the next election," Romney said in a statement. "I said last year that the best way we can show respect for voters who are upset is by telling them the truth," he added.

To observe that the Left and its cheerleading media have treated the one-year anniversary of the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot as a solemn occasion would be to understate the point. For the Left, the (actually) mostly peaceful demonstrations of that day, which for a small percentage of demonstrators did entail illegal trespassing of the Capitol, represented a watershed moment in the history of our “democracy.” January 6 was the day, the narrative goes, where “deplorable” Trumpians attempted to effectuate an “insurrection” and a “coup,” seeking to “overturn” the results of the perfect and pristine 2020 presidential election.

The FTC's rebellion against the judiciary 1 reply

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) must be held accountable for its open defiance of the Supreme Court’s directives. For decades, the FTC relied on a statute authorizing “permanent injunctions” to obtain monetary fines. That always seemed strange. After all, neighboring sections of the law allow the commission to seek limited monetary penalties, while injunctions normally only prevent future action and do not entail an award of any damages. Yet “disgorgement” awards — the return payment of supposedly illegal gains — became so pervasive that in 2019, for example, courts ordered that $723.2 million be paid to the government in such awards.CORRECTION*

The World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Friday he was confident the pandemic will end in 2022 "if we end inequity" and spread vaccine wealth, urging nations to better cooperate on battling the coronavirus. In a New Year's address, Tedros said the tools were available to end the pandemic as the world enters its third year of the pandemic. But he argued that "narrow nationalism" and "vaccine hoarding" was preventing the pandemic from coming to an end, and led to the emergence of the highly transmissible omicron variant.

The new treatment is based off protein-based technology that has been used in other vaccines for decades and it does not use MRNA. India has already authorized production of 100 million doses per month of the new vaccine. Meanwhile, Texas scientists say not-for-profit vaccines will help defeat COVID-19 quicker.

That same day, two Israeli newspaper websites, the Jerusalem Post and Maariv, were hacked and made to display a picture of a missile being launched from Soleimani’s ring at Israel’s nuclear reactor.
