Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?
No matter how many times Hollywood tries to push them on us, these films with woke messaging bomb at the box office over and over again. These mistakes cost studios and the companies that back them millions and millions of dollars and yet they continue to pump out these expensive movies, paying giant losses all in an effort to roll out “the message.”
This time, the delivery system for “the message” was the movie The 355, an all-female action spy flick that had all the boxes for a woke film checked off. It had a diverse cast of women

We watch old movies recorded from TCM. We also found a very entertaining series - a 2012-15 or so program made in Australia: “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries”… The lead actress is a marvelous treat (far more glamorous than Miss Marple) and the setting is about 1922.

All those woke flicks featuring butt-kicking uberfems are safe from my money ever contaminating their tills.

Hollywierd abandoned entertainment by talented performers decades ago and instead now delivers the left's political agenda through socialist activist lecturers. ....Did they think we wouldn't notice? No wonder viewers prefer the old movies and TV shows where storyline & talent can still be found.

Are they being managed by a "Charlie"?
As soon as a movie or show has a 116lb woman beating the snot out of a 250lb bad guy, then doing it again to his buddy....I turn it off. Nothing resembling reality will be found on this show.

Hollywood is failing miserably because they have thrown their main and largest American movie audience into the dumpster. Everything they make now is aimed at the Asian market which by the way includes China.
#1 mentions a great series, another is Vera. I love her because she is a grumpy CI in Northumberland and she is kind of like the British version of Columbo. Most of what comes out of the UK and parts of Europe and SE Asia is so much better than Hollywood right now. By SE Asia I mean HK, SK and parts of Indonesia.

Anything with Jimmy Stewart or Humphrey Bogart I'm watching on TCM. I won't go to a theater. The last time I did go was to see Darkest Hour with Gary Oldman playing Churchill it was very well done except the theater sound system was too loud. The gal thing is a bit stupid, now there are the waif skinny soy men squeezing out the toxic masculine men like Mark Walberg. Hollywood is dead but liberals won't quit until all the money is spent on box office flops.

A huge segment of movies offered on Netflix and Hulu have female leads. That means they are 'empowered' women who translate that into being rude and ugly. I can't watch them. No, Hollywood, female leads won't really work.

I think the only movie I've seen in a theater in the last twenty years is 1917. Maybe it's been 16 or 17 years, but it's been a while. There isn't a single movie worth watching. Hollywood has lost its ability to produce a decent movie that's entertaining without having superhero's or a having certain woke message.

Looks awful. That redhead is in all those woke movies... Jessica, I think.
OT, but I went to see Nightmare Alley a few weeks back. I like the director's (Guillermo del Toro) movies quite a lot. It was, I thought, really good, although the original, starring Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell, is a swell old film noir classic.

Sit in the theater for "The 355" and you'll swear you're smelling pennies.

A great story is predicated on logical construction. The Left have abandoned reason and logic in the interest of identity. Hence, they have lost the ability to craft an entertaining story.
Ex. 1: the new Matrix movie.

When "Walker, Texas Ranger" was on, late in the run, last few seasons, they brought in a good looking young female "Ranger".....about 5' 2" tall, and lucky to break 110 lbs. I had to laugh when she would regularly "beat up" hulking muscular guys in the 6 foot + range and well over 200 lbs.
Harsh reality.....her VERY BEST shot wouldn't do much to those bruisers, and ONE of their good shots would break her bones, or knock her out. But, hey, "she was a marital arts expert".......eye roll.
I know two guys who spent years in full contact karate and MMA fighting as hobbies. Both finally decided that learning to shoot was more important for real self defense. One had a hand seriously damaged in a fight, needed surgical repair and pins. He was a REALLY skilled pistol shooter, one of those 'moves like a cat, super quick' kind of guys. That plus marksmanship....deadly.
I did some checking.....the "Ranger" was Nia Peeples, a real cutie, but not going to beat up any big bruiser guys in real life.

I saw it coming when I took the boys to see the first Superman remake. Lois Lane the formerly elegant aide was depicted as a slob.

How many girls watch these incredibly stupid movies -- where the girls and women kick butt over much bigger and stronger men -- and honestly believe this BS?!?!?!? How many of them will eventually try this in real life (physically standing up to men) and be hurt or killed because the men are bigger and stronger?!?!?!?
The only true "equalizer" between women and men is a loaded gun!!! Period!!!! My daughters both carry, and my husband made sure they were very well trained as teenagers. No matter how big and strong any man is, he is not bigger and stronger than a 9mm hollow point at short range in the middle of his chest or forehead!!!!

An added delight to the Miss Fisher series is the authentic Jazz Age music. Much of it is actual recordings from the time period of the stories.

I went to see West Side Story last week, the first movie I've seen in over five years, and it was actually pretty good. But the theaters were empty. All of them. Hollywood is dying a slow death, and it's no wonder why.
