America isn’t just seeing less of Mike Pompeo because the Trump administration is no longer in the White House. We are seeing less of the former secretary of state because there is literally less of him — 90 pounds, to be exact. The former director of the CIA has faced a lot of challenging situations in his long career, but he hesitates to talk about his weight loss because of a nagging fear he will put all the pounds he lost back on. But, in an exclusive interview with The Post, he revealed how he did it and why.It all started on June 14, 2021, when Pompeo stepped on the scale

Good for him! That is quite a story. His current photo reminds me of a young Christopher Plummer.

I've liked Pompeo since the day he stepped into the limelight. He was an outstanding Sec of State, but I wish he could have stayed at CIA--maybe he could have cleaned out that rat's nest. Now, with this incredible weight loss, he has inspired me.
BTW, when someone loses that much weight, they have excess skin drooping everywhere. Does it eventually tighten up? I know some who have had it surgically removed.

Well done, Mr. Pompeo. You look fantastic and I am sure feel great! Anyone who undertakes tackling a weight issue has my extreme admiration. All the best in the future! I’d love to see him in a Trump administration again. He is a solid stand up guy.

#4 That's where the exercise regime comes in. By sticking with working out, even moderately, that excess skin will tighten up. Just like muscle tone will rid seniors of that "wrinkled" skin look.

Good article to read before getting up and going to the gym. Even though there's new snow outside.

Really remarkable. The guy is both brilliant and principled. Keeps a low profile. Exactly the kind of person this country could use in a major leadership position. And yes, someone I would seriously consider for President (though my current preference is DeSantis).
As for the dieting/exercise, here's my routine and prescription for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and overall physical fitness, especially as you age. Moderate exercise (45-ish minutes) every OTHER day. As you age, your body needs recovery time and seems to be more efficient this way too. Mix in brisk cardio (fast walking, biking/elliptical) with some weightlifting. This keeps it from becoming a daily drudge. As for eating, forget the goofy diets and eat pretty much everything you like but just a lot less of it. I have stopped using dinner plates and gone with smaller serving plates (no silly measuring needed - if it fits on the smaller plate, I'll eat it). And vitamin supplements for immune health (C, D3, Zinc).
Regular activity. Balance. Moderation in things you like doing and foods you like eating. Simple.

What a great thinker, speaker, achiever... now telling us how to deal with a major problem in America. I think I can and will make doing that a NY resolution. Also, we would like to see him as Trump's VP/ next in line for POTUS... or certainly back in a high government position again.

All fine, but I am still waiting for a list of people at the State Dept that Pompeo fired. So far, I am guessing none, which is why that department never got cleaned up. Not a single act to clean that department has ever been mentioned. I get because nothing was ever done.

Good on him. A person needs the "want to" before any kind of change happens.

Many people right now are using a GLP-1 right now for weight loss and having a lot of weight loss success. It’s a diabetes medication that decreases appetite because it slows down digestion. For diabetics it’s sold as Saxenda and for weight loss Wegovy or Rybelsis. The main side effect initially is nausea. If you have any blood sugar issues it’s easier to get Saxenda covered under insurance. I don’t know that Mike Pompeo used this but I wouldn’t be surprised.

I too have always admired Mike Pompeo (and am delighted to find out he is a Californian!). I first noticed him in televised House committee hearings where he was the standout in what was too often just a bunch of bureaucrats.

#13 nails it. With the millions of dollars wasted by people on all of the formal diet programs that keep popping up, it all comes down to personal will power, an agreement between your mind and your body. It's also far easier not to put the weight on in the first place, make exercise and healthy eating a lifestyle, not a chore.

RE #19:
Does it work for people with insulin resistance as well? I have IR as a result of PCOS and everything I eat, be it an apple or a bag of Cheetos turns to fat.

Well done, sir. The right way. Exercising and eating less. Very smart. It works every time it is tried, and stuck to. I'd like to lose about 10 lbs myself. Need to stop all deserts for about six months and get on my rowing machine more often, now that I can't bike because of the cold and snow.
Bravo for Mr. Pompeo.
