I remember 9/11 well. People were shocked and angry, but also brave and compassionate. Police and firefighters ran into the burning World Trade Towers to save office workers. Many of those police and firefighters were still there trying to save lives when the buildings collapsed over and under them. On a hijacked flight over Pennsylvania, passengers heard by telephone of the collapse of the Trade Towers and surmised that their hijackers planned a similar strike. Some of the passengers huddled, plotted and made a pact to overcome the terrorists. The terrorists had already murdered the pilots, and so the passengers knew their actions would crash the plane and end their own lives.

We live and move around in a small circle of friends not very social even if this Covid scare had not happened. We don't witness what the author is writing about, but we do read about this happening in other places mostly far from us. Covid will always be known as a political pandemic and nothing else. MAGA

the media and politicians have the weak minded scared to death. Last I checked the most in danger are elderly and people with FOUR or more co-morbidities (80% of deaths) who have perhaps a 5% chance of dying with covid and perhaps a 15% (if testing is accurate but I doubt it) of even catching it. And that is the old strains which are disappearing. Omicron doesn't appear to be deadly.

COVID has repeatedly reminded me of the movie 'Cabin Fever'. The uninfected turn on the infected, and the infected defend themselves. Things get very nasty. "Cabin Fever" was a horror movie that very much reflected what would happen in reality, and we are seeing it with regard to COVID.

I work in Sili Con Valley so I can say this is what I have seen too. All the left wing run non profits I work for , (which are by law suppose to be non political!). The people running them have heavily drank the kool aid. They speak scathingly of anyone not jabbed, and think they are idiots, they are harsh, rude and following every idea of WOKE that blows in. Many people I used to respect and thought highly of, I now loathe. I am slowing leaving most of my commitments with these organizations fully due to Trump derangement, which started it all, and now finished up with Covid insanity.

#3 The Nazis did. They just had their mask placed on the arm. Take a cloth mask, draw a Star of David on it and put it on your arm. Bingo I often wondered when I was young, how the Germans, with limited manpower, could compel and monitor each person to see if they were Jewish and wearing their Star. I realized they didnt need soldiers. They only needed the Jews" neighbors who loved the power over other people. Nothing is new under the Sun

I will remember how politicians used covid against citizens. With the help of some drs lawyers and judges by with holding treatments that would cure sick people. As the young mother of three lay dying and could have been saved, except the liberal judge refused her meds. (Murder). All done to keep info of a rigged election from voters, and to enrich pharmaceutical company’s. Worked so well it’s being used again. A new variant is on the rise. A combination of the covid and the flu. More boosters!

#1 is right on. A few people are still wearing masks everywhere. I have to chuckle at the idiots who wear a mask inside a car, alone. Or walking on a sidewalk in a suburban area, no person within a hundred yards. Do they not have ANY brains? Do they imagine these viruses are floating along EVERYWHERE? Do they, also, imagine that their random damned piece of cloth has some magical powers to stop particles which are far, far smaller than the holes in the cloth that the air comes through? And, to the "got mean".....I think that these folks were already that mean, but until this event they managed to cover it up a bit. These crazy times showed people for what they actually have always been. For some it is wonderful. For many it shows that they are uncivil, dimwitted, frightened beasts.

What is "obscene" wealth? 19 replies

According to a friend at a Christmas party, “obscene” wealth is the kind that’s unneeded. His example was a 100-foot yacht. “Nobody needs a 100-foot yacht,” he intoned. I agreed that nobody needs a 100-foot yacht. But nobody needs a glass of expensive chardonnay either. I kindly offered to relieve him of the one he was holding. The only things that are truly needed by humans are food, shelter, simple clothing and occasional medical treatment. Everything beyond that is unneeded and, therefore, under my friend’s definition, obscene. So “obscene” wealth must mean something other than the unneeded kind. But what? For guidance in defining obscenity, let’s look at sex

Two thousand years ago, a carpenter lived a conventional life for 30 years in a tiny village in the Middle East. Then he somehow became as they might say today, “radicalized.” Historians agree that Jesus did exist. There are reliable ancient records of him. But most of what we know are opaque and contradictory accounts written decades after his death in what we now call the Gospel of the New Testament. In one sense, those Gospel accounts are profoundly simple. They say Jesus was the Messiah prophesized in the Hebrew Bible. As such, he performed miracles to save those needing saving. He came back from the dead. That’s the word.

The Democrats need every single Dem Senator in order to pass their “Build Back Better” bill. That’s the $1.7 trillion social-spend-a-palooza that really costs more like $4.9 trillion according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. Several Dem Senators have reservations about BBB behind the scenes, but the one with the guts to stand up to it publicly is Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Manchin publicly objected to the bill on the grounds that it pumps too much money into the economy at a time when inflation is rocketing, that it contains numerous provisions unrelated to the budget process

Store theft is now done openly. People load their arms or shopping carts with stuff they want and simply walk out the door. After closing, mobs of them smash the storefront and grab what they want. I’m reminded of stores in Mexico where padlocked steel curtains cover the glass storefronts each night. After closing, the store become a little fortress. The left explains that this isn’t looting because . . . reasons. One reason is that it’s really a protest for social justice, whatever that is. Another reason is that stores have insurance, dontcha know, and so stealing from them isn’t really stealing.

For seven years, I was the conservative columnist for the Aspen Times. Democrats outnumber Republicans three to one in Aspen and about twenty to one at the newspaper, where I was the one. Despite the liberal leanings of the Aspen Times and its readers, my conservative column became the most-read thing in the newspaper. It often garnered more clicks than front page news and, I suspect, even the real estate ads for $4,000/sq ft condos. But I evidently wasn’t hired to be a conservative success. Rather, I was hired to be a conservative token. On Christmas Eve in 2019 after savoring the clicks I had generated for seven years, they fired me

The Supreme Court this week heard oral argument on the Mississippi law that limits abortion after 15 weeks from conception. As someone who practiced law at the Supreme Court, I listened to the arguments. I think they’ll uphold the Mississippi law. I have a few observations. Keep in mind that oral argument at the Supreme Court is typically more theater than jurisprudence. The Justices usually already have their minds made up from reading the briefs. But it’s worthwhile theater because it connects the public to the judicial process. Also, it gives some insight into the likely decision which won’t come till next Spring.
Colorado plans to cancel "sex offender"

Some 20,000 sex criminals in Colorado get “treatment” from the state Sex Offender Management Board, or “SOMB.” It’s a big bureaucracy with layers of committees and “work groups.” Rapists treated by the SOMB are of course not called “rapists.” In fact, that term appears nowhere on the big SOMB website. It was banned years ago because it became associated with criminals who coercively, forcibly and sometimes violently prey sexually upon others – persons who commit what we used to call “rape.” Stated another way, the term “rapist” came to connote persons who rape.

Kyle Rittenhouse shot three people. The first two died. It’s interesting to see who they were. The backgrounds of these guys is not determinative of Rittenhouse’s guilt or innocence – there’s no open season on creeps – but it’s relevant in piecing together the story of that deadly night. The first who was shot served 14 years in prison for raping a child and then for dozens of in-prison disciplinary violations. He was a registered sex offender and was found guilty of assault, arson and narcotics crimes. He was wanted at the time of the shooting for bail-jumping and domestic abuse, and had been released from a hospital

“Woke” was coined by the left some years ago to describe a person who had become sensitive to the left’s pet issues, especially racial and “social justice” ones. It implied that a person disagreeing with the left about those issues was not just wrong, but unconscious. This catchy term was initially successful. But the left never succeeds at success. That’s because what’s important to them is not being successful in resolving grievances, but parading those grievances as evidence of their victimhood. Victim status is more important to the left than winning – and easier too.
