Movers haul Bill’s boxes — but de
Blasio not leaving yet

Original Article

Mayor Bill de Blasio plans on leaving Gracie Mansion true to form: late! Movers were at the mayor’s official residence on Friday to pack de Blasio’s stuff into a pair of vans, but City Hall said the perpetually tardy bureaucrat would remain there overnight, even though Mayor-elect Eric Adams succeeds him immediately after the stroke of midnight. With one of de Blasio’s two Park Slope houses rented out and the other undergoing extensive remodeling, sources said he would be relocating to the Marriott hotel in downtown Brooklyn. It’s unclear how long de Blasio plans to stay there. It was not clear who is paying for the hotel stay.

He has known he had to go and when he had to be out. On beyond rude, this is just passive-aggressive foot-dragging. All of the things causing the delay are things he caused by not managing his personal world. Housing. Transportation. He’ll have a tough time reconciling himself to not feeding at the public trough. Having to arrange and pay for things himself….

The World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Friday he was confident the pandemic will end in 2022 "if we end inequity" and spread vaccine wealth, urging nations to better cooperate on battling the coronavirus. In a New Year's address, Tedros said the tools were available to end the pandemic as the world enters its third year of the pandemic. But he argued that "narrow nationalism" and "vaccine hoarding" was preventing the pandemic from coming to an end, and led to the emergence of the highly transmissible omicron variant.

A business owner in Salem, Oregon, painted a mural honoring the American flag and the Marines who raised it at Iwo Jima. Most observers considered it a beautiful memorial and an attractive use of an otherwise nondescript wall. The owner of the business commissioned a local artist to create the tasteful and fetching display of patriotism. The Salem City Council has ordered him to remove it, or face fines of up to $200 per day. The artist, Mario De Leon, raised the alarm in a Facebook post: What’s up everybody. The city of Salem is forcing @valleyroofingoregon to remove the mural I painted or to give the mural to the Salem art society.

The cruise ship industry has been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, much of their pain and suffering has been self-inflicted, driven by their mindless following of pointless federal dictates. That has most noticeably manifested itself in the implementation of so-called “vaccine passports.” Of course, vaccine passports do not actually accomplish anything. New York City not only has a vaccine passport system, but they also have a vaccine mandate. Still, they lead the nation in new coronavirus cases as of this writing. But the fact that everyone spreads COVID — and that vaccine passports made no sense — is not new information. And when Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida

Almost as transmissible as measles which is probably the most common highly transmissible infectious agent that we know. So the message is if you don’t want to get COVID, keep your gatherings really small. Surround yourself with vaccinated people. This is not the year for big New Year’s parties.
