The cruise ship industry has been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, much of their pain and suffering has been self-inflicted, driven by their mindless following of pointless federal dictates. That has most noticeably manifested itself in the implementation of so-called “vaccine passports.”
Of course, vaccine passports do not actually accomplish anything. New York City not only has a vaccine passport system, but they also have a vaccine mandate. Still, they lead the nation in new coronavirus cases as of this writing. But the fact that everyone spreads COVID — and that vaccine passports made no sense — is not new information.
And when Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida

Today’s orporate types have shown themselves to be blind leaders, not like the captains of industry we knew growing up as kids.

Everyone is afraid of civil liabilities if they don't follow these ridiculous mandates. Lawyers and bureaucrats are driving this country straight into the ground.

My oldest bonus daughter sold her body for a 4 day cruise. Yes I mean she took the jab. This was back in mid August. Last week she had an emergency appendectomy and they found a tennis ball size cyst on one of her ovaries. Are these things vaxxine related? Who knows? I do know her first period after the shot was “extreme”. I didn’t ask the details but pointed out other women have had bad reactions in that way. Hopefully she won’t get boosted. Her 19 year old sister is all about compliance. And she thinks she’s cutting edge in her politics lol. Before college I jokingly asked her pronouns and (thank the Lord) she came back with she/her. I think my reply was are you effing playing that game? I’m rambling but I love them so much and get frustrated they’re so easily brainwashed.

This is rich. Tell the Health Department to go to hell when they hold your business license in their hands. The ships were effectively tied up for a year. The companies were given a path to operate, and that included the vax requirements. De Santis was pushing politics no different than CDC.
And to read the comments around here about "floating petri dishes" and other such. These latest outbreaks have just reignited that nonsense, usually spread by people who would NEVER go on a cruise.
I cruise. I've been vaxxed and boosted. My choices. Others have made the same. I respect the choice to forego vax. It's time to respect the choice to be vaxxed.

Just remember, the so-called "medical profession" bears joint responsibility for all of the unnecessary destruction and chaos for allowing this to become politicized.

So true #1. The corporate world is full of managers with nary a leader in sight.

Although I did watch Love Boat, back in the day, I would never get on a cruise ship.
The story about the ship with excrement running down the walls will never leave my memory.
The story about the ship refusing to go to the closest shore to allow passengers to disembark will never leave my memory.

I agree with #4. We love to Cruise and have been on many of great trips on various Cruise Lines. ALL have been wonderful experiences. That said, we just canceled our late Jan. Cruise. The reason being we hate to wear a Mask! We live in Florida where we're not accustomed to wearing Masks, so we can't imagine it would be much fun having to wear one "at all times outside of our Stateroom". That's the latest mandate! So, doing so, for ten days, just doesn't sound like fun. We go on cruises, usually with a group, to enjoy sitting on the Deck playing cards, going to Breakfast outside, having wonderful dinners in Beautiful Dining Rooms and so forth. Having to wear a Mask just puts a damper on things. We are looking at an Alaska Cruise in the Spring, and have already Booked another Cruise for next Thanksgiving. Hopefully, things will be better by then! One can only Hope! As for Cruise Ships being "floating Petri Dishes", we have never been sick on a Cruise in 25 years of cruising!

I wonder if most businesses blindly following the mandates think that the taxpayers will be forced to subsidize them.

We also cruise and have one booked for this Autumn, but I am going to cancel if we are forced to get a shot, and wear a mask. I've read that some Countries are turning ships away if passengers with Covid are on the ship. I'm not going to pay a lot of money and not be able to go ashore.
We have to learn to live with this NOT restrict us. Those who are getting Covid are the ones who got the shot. It's all bs

Great points by #4. While my wife and I have never been on a cruise, it isn't because we dislike cruises. Cruises just haven't gotten onto our radar for some reason. In time, we may do a few.
For us, getting the jab was a choice and we made that choice. Very reluctantly, I might add because the manner in which these so-called vaccines operate within the human body is rather frightening. Was this pandemic manmade for political gain and societal control? Of course, it was. There is a special place in hell waiting for those who caused this pandemic and continue to fearmonger it.
But, meanwhile, at my age, sitting at home in retirement because I can't go anywhere and do anything because of my vax status is not acceptable. Living wild, happy, and free is acceptable.

Disney is taking it in both ends and the middle through their cruises, movies and theme parks even after going woke and LGBTQXYZ-friendly. It couldn't happen to a nicer mouse.

I empathize, #3. Colleges not only dumbed down all education, they attempt to turn students into their version of what a citizen should be. Back in our day the only brainwashing colleges did was to try to turn people into anti-war peaceniks. That's a nice philosophy until you learn that most of the world hates Americans and wants to kill us. Now our own government has adopted the same idea.

Our seniors church group had a large group trip planned on Royal Caribbean for March. About half our group are unvaccinated, and our pastor was regularly in contact with the cruise company to make sure they would honor the tickets of the unvaccinated. We had arranged for a tester to come out to the church three days before and the night before embarkation to do the tests. It was all go until last week.
Last week, NCL decided they would not honor their promise and are now requiring ALL patrons be vaccinated, regardless of results of a Covid test. WHY??? Requiring vaccination doesn't seem to be preventing Covid outbreaks.
They wouldn't even consider honoring the reservations of those in our group who were vaccinated and wanted to travel anyway ... nope, we were a group rate and we had to have the whole group go.
Terrible business decisions! I'm sure they have people cancelling left-and-right in this current panic, and here they are turning away a large group who have cash in hand.
Instead, our group will be doing a road trip from Sarasota Florida to Asheville, North Carolina.

The cruise industry has bent over backwards with requirements for vaccine cards and tests before sailing. Yet people keep testing positive after sailing. The worst thing is that those who test positive are put ashore without any help by many cruise lines in getting back home. With all the pre-boarding screening the cruise lines should be required to get their passengers back home instead of forcing them off ship God knows where.

Why do business leaders seem prone to just fall down before Biden's unethical, if not illegal, mandates?! There are existing previously researched and Legislated U.S. Immigration Laws to protect this country, yet our sovereign borders have been ignored by Biden! Federal Immigration Law Enforcement Officers are stopped by Biden from doing the job to which they have sworn an Oath to enforce in order to protect the U.S.A.. American citizens Rights are demanded as illegals are given free reign and cash support! This Biden Administration's sneaky plots don't seem to be helping anything positive in America.
