Former President Barack Obama and his family were seen enjoying some fun in the water this weekend after heading back to Hawaii for their annual Christmas trip. The 60-year-old 44th president was pictured donning black swim trunks on Saturday as he went for a dip in the Pacific Ocean, and was snapped squinting in the sun as he left his sunglasses behind. The day before, his daughters, Sasha, 20, and Malia, 23, were also caught on camera as they went out on the water on stand-up paddle boards, each wearing a bikini for the beach day.

White House chief of staff Ron Klain doubled down on the White House's doomsday warning for the unvaccinated on Monday. 'We are intent on not letting Omicron disrupt work and school for the vaccinated. You've done the right thing, and we will get through this,' said White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients in a press briefing. 'For the unvaccinated, you're looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.'(Snip)The White House has attempted to shift messaging away from case counts and towards severe illness. 'We're getting to the point now where… it's about severity,' said Xavier Becerra,

If you aren’t white, you may not be able to go way outside.
At least, that appears to be the belief of a North Carolina State University professor.
KangJae “Jerry” Lee — of the school’s College of Natural Resources — recognizes the racism keeping you from enjoying the great outdoors.
Cultural differences, he asserts, can’t explain why there aren’t more black people fishing, hunting, and hiking.
Also an insufficient excuse: income disparity.
The instructor laments America’s adventure/nature gap, but he’s bulls-eyed the culprit: systemic racism.
Wichita’s KAKE recently jawed it up with Jerry on the lack of outdoor equity.

“AstraZeneca uncovers what's triggering blood clots after its jab” reads a recent headline from Mail Online.
“Oh, oh, oh!” one feels like exclaiming. So, it is true, after all. After nearly one year of stonewalling and denials, they officially admit that the Covid vaccines can, in fact, cause blood clots.
This will undoubtedly come as a great shock to those who believe the mainstream media narratives where all talk of vaccine injury has been hitherto dismissed as “misinformation” by those right wing anti-vaxxers. (snip)
After all, scientists and public health officials have always reassured us that these vaccines are “completely safe and effective.”

My name is Brandon. Brandon Brown, to be specific. Yes, that Brandon.
I am Brandon, the NASCAR driver and unlikely meme. A 28-year-old who now finds himself in the middle of the American political conversation. As a pro driver, I never expected to be in the passenger seat of my own viral moment.
On October 2, I won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega—my first major win. It was a hell of a moment for me, my family, my team and my sponsors. It's cliché, but it is a moment I had dreamt about my entire life.

The fact that the FBI has lost its way has been on public display for at least five years now. Truth be told, it probably strayed off course way before that. But during the Trump Presidency, it became too obvious to ignore. It has been involved in everything from the creation of an “insurance policy” against the peaceful transition of power, to the targeting of parents as domestic terrorists for the sin of disagreeing with school boards. How did our “premier law enforcement agency” stray so far from its motto of fidelity, bravery, and integrity?
Simply put, the FBI’s current state is the result of horrible leadership.

Washington—Warning that extremism in the ranks is increasing, Pentagon officials are issuing detailed new rules prohibiting service members from actively engaging in extremist activities. The new guidelines come nearly a year after some current and former service members participated in the riot at the U.S. Capitol, triggering a broad department review. Senior defense officials tell The Associated Press that fewer than 100 military members are known to have been involved in substantiated cases of extremist activity in the past year, but they warn that the number may grow given recent spikes in domestic violent extremism, particularly among veterans. Officials said the new policy doesn’t largely change what is prohibited,

Call it Woke Side Story. Because there’s woke, really woke, über woke, and then there’s this: not including subtitles for a movie’s Spanish dialogue because you don’t want to give “English the power over the Spanish.”
That’s exactly what director Steven Spielberg did, and why, in his recently released West Side Story (WSS), a “remake” of the iconic 1961 film of the same name. Spielberg says, however, that it’s not a remake but a “reimagining.” But no matter one’s imagination, it’s hard to conceive of the flick’s debut this past weekend as anything but a flop — and expensive one, too.

In the next legislative session beginning January 5th, 2022, the New York Senate and Assembly could vote on a bill that would grant permissions to remove and detain cases, contacts, carriers, or anyone suspected of presenting a “significant threat to public health” and remove them from public life on an indefinite basis.

Epicenter, a Stockholm-based startup, unveiled a new way of carrying around a COVID vaccine passport—in a microchip implanted under your skin. The implant can be read by any device using the near-field communication (NFC) protocol–technology used for contactless payments and keyless entry systems. In a video shared by Epicenter, Hannes Sjöblad, chief distribution officer, has the chip in his arm and simply waves a smartphone over it to pull up his vaccination status. 'Implants are very versatile technology that can be used for many different things, and right now it is very convenient to have COVID passport always accessible on your implant, he said in a statement.

Leftist Gabriel Boric was elected president of Chile on Sunday by a larger-than-expected margin, giving him a mandate to push for higher taxes, greener industries and greater equality after a contest focused on discontent over an investor-friendly economy that has left many behind.
The former student protest leader won 56% of the vote, beating conservative rival Jose Antonio Kast’s 44%. The victory is likely to spook markets that fear interventionist policies. Boric, 35, will take office in March as one of the youngest presidents in the world and with an ambitious agenda.
