As a recent wave of mob-led store robberies has put retailers, mall operators and communities on edge, one popular shopping center is keeping an unusual security measure in place through the holiday season. The Grove, a famous open-air shopping complex in Los Angeles, has added a high coil fence barrier that resembles barbed wire at the property's entrances and exits. Management added the "tangled tape" coil fencing, which is made from a custom aluminum-and-steel mesh, ahead of Thanksgiving weekend. Concertina wire and concert bollards take away from the ambience a bit. How about armed guards and a few German Shepherd dogs on patrol?

Won’t work for long though. The ferals will figure out a way to get around it. Makes me wonder if they make enough profit on their overpriced baubles to put your employees in mortal danger. Maybe they think that they can absorb these losses but they can’t for much long much longer. They will also not be able to buy insurance at any price. Well, they asked for it. Tough shite as we use to say.

Perhaps armed security along with required photo ID (scanned at entry) is going to be SOP for those high end retailers. I'm guessing that insurance, if you can get it, is at a premium price with a HIGH deductible (five or six figures).

so they want the feds to make reselling the stuff online tougher. You know that will make it harder for all of us. I have sold many items on ebay that I would never be able to prove ownership of. stuff i have owned for years, stuff i have inherited, etc. You notice though, no mention of doing something to arrest the little s.o.d.'s that stole the stuff and locking them up.

It should remain locked up during the day too. That way if there's smash and grab, the gates can be closed trapping the criminals inside.

Crime is spilling into Minneapolis’ suburbs, putting the neighborhoods "under attack from mobile criminals," one local mayor said. Our town, and our neighboring towns, have had their security and serenity under attack from mobile criminals who are coming into Edina and other nearby communities to steal private property and in some cases injuring people who resist or assist a victim," Edina Mayor Jim Hovland said in an email to residents of the town Sunday, Fox 9 reported. "Edina residents have become angry and fearful. The peace and tranquility of our community has been disrupted. At a time when we should

Biden is losing Americans' faith on the foreign policy front as well. After his two-hour video call with Vladimir Putin on his aggressive actions toward Ukraine last week, only 38 percent of Americans have faith he can negotiate with the Russian leader. Everyone’s understandably focused today on how Cheney embarrassed Trump Jr and the Fox News gang by reading their texts to Trump on January 6. Ed has a nice write-up about it here. But don’t miss the forest for the trees. The point Cheney was making isn’t that Fox News hosts are hypocrites, although they are. The point is that the president’s own family and allies were pleading with him while the riot was unfolding to do something, yet he did nothing — for hours. Everyone around him treated it like an emergency. Not him. Was that a crime? Watch the end of this clip, starting at around 3:00.
