MINNEAPOLIS - A woman is dead and a man is hospitalized with serious injuries after an overnight shooting in north Minneapolis. According to Minneapolis police, officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations at 3:30 a.m. Sunday near the 4400 block of Bryant Avenue N. Moments later, a 911 caller stated said he had been shot. (Snip) This is the 92nd homicide in Minneapolis in 2021. The most homicides in Minneapolis in a single year was 97 in 1995, when the New York Time dubbed the city "Murderapolis." The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased woman

Comments:

Getting close to the all-time murder record. Mary Tyler Moore would have to wear a bullet-proof vest in today's Minneapolis.

Do 'ShotSpotters' get paid more than defunded police? Like my father use to tell me if I was out after midnight, "there's nothing good going on after that time". Three AM there must have been something important going on. #6 receives all my votes for best response and truth. The darkies are at it again.

As a recent wave of mob-led store robberies has put retailers, mall operators and communities on edge, one popular shopping center is keeping an unusual security measure in place through the holiday season. The Grove, a famous open-air shopping complex in Los Angeles, has added a high coil fence barrier that resembles barbed wire at the property's entrances and exits. Management added the "tangled tape" coil fencing, which is made from a custom aluminum-and-steel mesh, ahead of Thanksgiving weekend. The fencing is installed nightly after the mall closes and removed before it reopens, and it's just one of the security

Crime is spilling into Minneapolis’ suburbs, putting the neighborhoods "under attack from mobile criminals," one local mayor said. Our town, and our neighboring towns, have had their security and serenity under attack from mobile criminals who are coming into Edina and other nearby communities to steal private property and in some cases injuring people who resist or assist a victim," Edina Mayor Jim Hovland said in an email to residents of the town Sunday, Fox 9 reported. "Edina residents have become angry and fearful. The peace and tranquility of our community has been disrupted. At a time when we should

The United States on Sunday reached 800,000 coronavirus-related deaths, according to a Reuters tally, as the nation braces for a potential surge in infections due to more time spent indoors with colder weather and the highly transmissible Omicron variant of the virus. The milestone means the U.S. death toll from this one virus now exceeds the entire population of North Dakota. A devastating new poll for President Joe Biden released on Sunday shows Americans disagreeing with his handling of nearly every issue currently plaguing the United States. As inflation rises to the highest level in 40 years, just 28 percent of Americans believe he's handing it right while 69 percent disapprove. Biden is losing Americans' faith on the foreign policy front as well. After his two-hour video call with Vladimir Putin on his aggressive actions toward Ukraine last week, only 38 percent of Americans have faith he can negotiate with the Russian leader. The 25-year-old, who runs a pet supplies shop on busy Eskandari Street in downtown Tehran, is stunned. "Crocodiles can be called dangerous, but how can rabbits, dogs and cats be dangerous?" he asked incredulously about the bill introduced a month ago. The proposed law pits growing numbers of people with pets against those who consider the practice decadent and hold that under Islamic law dogs, like pigs, are unclean. SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Forget speeding tickets — California truck drivers will soon have to watch out for pollution tickets. State regulators on Thursday voted to crack down on heavy duty trucks weighing more than 14,000 pounds (6,350 kilograms) — those big semi-trailers that make up just 3% of all vehicles in California but spend so much time on the road they account for more than half of all pollution from cars and trucks each year. Everyone’s understandably focused today on how Cheney embarrassed Trump Jr and the Fox News gang by reading their texts to Trump on January 6. Ed has a nice write-up about it here. But don’t miss the forest for the trees. The point Cheney was making isn’t that Fox News hosts are hypocrites, although they are. The point is that the president’s own family and allies were pleading with him while the riot was unfolding to do something, yet he did nothing — for hours. Everyone around him treated it like an emergency. Not him. Was that a crime? Watch the end of this clip, starting at around 3:00.

Vice President Kamala Harris said in an interview that “women will die” if the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) overturns landmark ruling Roe v. Wade. Currently, the Court is weighing a case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which pertains to a 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi. The outcome of Dobbs could have direct implications on Roe. In an interview published Sunday with the San Francisco Chronicle, Harris said that efforts for SCOTUS to curtail abortion could result in women dying, adding that she’s not “alarmist” or “extreme” by suggesting that. “I don’t mean to sound alarmist, I mean this: Women will die,” Harris said in the interview.

Pete Buttigieg is a lazy, ineffectual empty suit with a sonorous voice. His "husband" (a term I put in quotations because I will forever believe that marriage is a heterosexual institution) is even worse. This useless degree jockey put out a tweet on Sunday making it clear that he feels it's an imposition that he should be called upon to repay his student loans. That's bad. What's really bad is when you discover what those loans were for and what he's done with himself since school. Chasten received a notice telling him that Joe Biden was finally ending the COVID moratorium on repaying student loans.
