Buttigieg's husband mocks Biden admin
restarting student loan payments next

The husband of U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appears less than enthusiastic about having to repay his student loans. Chasten Buttigieg, who recently became a father to newborn twins with the transportation secretary, posted a screenshot on Instagram Saturday of a notification that his student loan relief from the COVID-19 pandemic will expire on January 31, 2022. "These are the guys who complained that they couldn’t afford rent in DC on Pete’s $220K salary (and all their money from writing books)," Republican strategist Matt Whitlock commented. "A good reminder that the left’s ‘cancel student loan debt’ goal would overwhelmingly help financially comfortable people."

Comments:

Communists are back on the student loan thing. It should be our privilege as peasants to pay off the worthless college degrees of our betters such as AOC, Tlaib and Mr. Buttplug.

So, Chasten is a stay-at-home dad, IOW a bum living off Momma Petey's big guvmint paycheck? No wonder Petey had to take months off to take care of the kids while container ships backed up in the harbors. This is truly sickening in a couple that were sickening already. Which one "earned" the degree in Womyns Studies?

So forgive the debts. But for every debtor who is forgiven, they must accept a surcharge income tax on all (ALL!) future earnings, like a 20% (?) bump. You signed up for the degree to get the better jobs. Pay it back yourself or accept the extra tax status. Pay it back. Not us taxpayers - we didn't sign up for your debts. But since you get the benefits of all that edumacation and better job, bigger paycheck, extra taxes are due. Prolly never happen - but I just wonder - if we forgive the current debt - how do we fund the next crops of college bound? Do we pre-forgive them too?

It is difficult to maintain sanity and read the “news.” The crazed actors seem to live in a world where one must ask “really?” or “really really?” and now “really really really?” Why pay salaries? Get the professors to return the tuition. The contractors who built the campus. The banks who loaned the funds.l for the construction. The parents who deposited the money in the banks and earned passbook interest (which is a thing of the past anyway.).

I would only be in favor of forgiving the student debt of those who became teachers, and only after a minimum of 5 years on the job. Particularly if they teach in the under-represented schools and districts. Since many of those districts don't have the tax base to pay for "good" teachers, it would be a way of attracting teachers to those schools.

One partner earns $220K, plus fabulous health care, plus a fabulous pension, free parking at the Capitol and at Reagan Airport, plus free official printing and postage, plus more vacation days than work days, plus, plus, plus. I´m not going to complain about that if the Weasel boyfriend won´t complain about paying his own damned debt. As a grad student I had $6,000 in student in total loans, which I repaid faithfully and ahead of schedule, bcause I was grateful to have had access to those funds, and needed them at the time. Chasten (who needs to be chastened) seems extremely ungrateful to the American people for financing his education. I was very grateful, and thought it was a huge help, which I was more than happy to repay. Gratitude, Chasten, gratitude.

A new requirement for truck drivers coming from Canada to be vaccinated against COVID-19 could add to supply chain challenges for everything from cars to fruit. The Canadian Trucking Alliance said it could effect more than 12,000 drivers who cross the border daily. "Based on surveys done by the Alliance, and national vaccination averages, CTA believes this will result in a 10-15% exit rate of the 120,000 truck drivers currently crossing the border," the group said. The organization said it is working with its counterparts in the U.S. before the vaccination mandate goes into effect.

BRUSSELS  — Tensions soared Monday between Russia and the West over concerns that Moscow is planning to invade Ukraine, with NATO outlining potential troop and ship deployments, Britain saying it would withdraw some diplomats from Kyiv, and Ireland denouncing upcoming Russian war games off its coast as unwelcome. The Western alliance’s statement summed up moves already announced by member countries, but restating them under the NATO banner appeared aimed at showing its resolve. It was just one of a series of announcements that signaled the West is ramping up its rhetoric in the information war that has accompanied the Ukraine standoff.  CORRECTIONS*

"It's terrible - the city has gotten worse now," Vincente Malava told WABC of the increase in crimes. Over the course of the last three weeks, the five boroughs have been rocked by a 16% increase in shootings compared to last year, a 65% increase in transit crimes, and a 25% increase in robberies. Meanwhile, the NYPD is reeling from the five officers who have been shot since Jan. 1, including a rookie cop who was shot dead.

The CDC has officially moved the goalposts on what it means to be vaccinated from COVID-19. We all knew this day was coming, even as an onslaught of “fact-checkers” assured us it was “misinformation” to assert such a change was coming publicly. But first, let’s talk about the details. CDC Dir. Rochelle Walensky appeared on CBS News and shared the news that the two-dose regiment will no longer suffice to be considered “fully vaccinated.” Instead, you will need a booster jab in order to be classified as “up to date.” That comes as part of a “pivot” in language by the government, one that many were maligned for predicting.

BREAKING: Schumer Suffers Crushing Defeat

I’m not sure what Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) thought he was going to get by pushing a vote on the Democratic effort to federalize elections (which they call ‘voting rights’) and on the filibuster. Schumer knew that he was likely to get a “no” on the filibuster from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). They’ve only been holding fast on the subject for months. Both also were very firm on the subject in speeches — Sinema earlier in the week and Manchin earlier on Wednesday. It wasn’t happening, they said. But Schumer decided to commit electoral suicide anyway, and he got it tonight.

The overwhelming majority of Senate Democrats will soon move to eliminate the filibuster -- which has protected the rights of the chamber’s minority for more than a century – because they feel the need to pass ‘voting rights legislation’ is just too intense to be blocked by the 60-vote threshold. By merging several pieces of legislation into one mega-bill and calling it the ‘Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act,’ Democrats are trying to scare people into believing that if the bill doesn’t pass, they will lose their right to vote.
