The husband of U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appears less than enthusiastic about having to repay his student loans.
Chasten Buttigieg, who recently became a father to newborn twins with the transportation secretary, posted a screenshot on Instagram Saturday of a notification that his student loan relief from the COVID-19 pandemic will expire on January 31, 2022.
"These are the guys who complained that they couldn’t afford rent in DC on Pete’s $220K salary (and all their money from writing books)," Republican strategist Matt Whitlock commented. "A good reminder that the left’s ‘cancel student loan debt’ goal would overwhelmingly help financially comfortable people."

So, Chasten is a stay-at-home dad, IOW a bum living off Momma Petey's big guvmint paycheck? No wonder Petey had to take months off to take care of the kids while container ships backed up in the harbors. This is truly sickening in a couple that were sickening already. Which one "earned" the degree in Womyns Studies?

I paid my student loans.
Bootie-babe, start a non-profit to help people pay their student loans. You collect private donations and then pay people's loans.
The US Treasury is not your 'husband's' piggy bank.

I know of people who haven't bothered to make a payment in several decades and they suffer no consequence.
I would like to see Buttigieg's "husband's" payment record before the moratorium.

Pete needs to go home and itch slap his "wife" - those kinds of comments are going to sink little Pete's Oval Orifice ambitions. I suspect Kamala is behind leaking these comments to torpedo Pete - probably a poor choice of words.

So forgive the debts. But for every debtor who is forgiven, they must accept a surcharge income tax on all (ALL!) future earnings, like a 20% (?) bump. You signed up for the degree to get the better jobs. Pay it back yourself or accept the extra tax status. Pay it back. Not us taxpayers - we didn't sign up for your debts. But since you get the benefits of all that edumacation and better job, bigger paycheck, extra taxes are due. Prolly never happen - but I just wonder - if we forgive the current debt - how do we fund the next crops of college bound? Do we pre-forgive them too?

It is difficult to maintain sanity and read the “news.”
The crazed actors seem to live in a world where one must ask “really?” or “really really?” and now “really really really?”
Why pay salaries? Get the professors to return the tuition. The contractors who built the campus. The banks who loaned the funds.l for the construction. The parents who deposited the money in the banks and earned passbook interest (which is a thing of the past anyway.).

Anyone in long term default on a student loan deserves to have their wages garnished. My student loan debt was $15,000, which is $30,000 in 2021 dollars. The loan was repaid in full from a teacher’s salary. If democrats forgive student loans, where do I go to get the $30,000 refund?

How much student loan debt did he incur to achieve the qualifications needed for his "Part-time Drama Teacher" position?
How much does that position pay?
Perhaps he/they should have paid off all debts before BUYING two premie babies, then taking several months off from working on "Maternity" leave

I would only be in favor of forgiving the student debt of those who became teachers, and only after a minimum of 5 years on the job. Particularly if they teach in the under-represented schools and districts. Since many of those districts don't have the tax base to pay for "good" teachers, it would be a way of attracting teachers to those schools.

Remember Biden is OK with handing illegal aliens $450,000.00 who were inconvenienced by being arrested by the US Border Patrol after unlawfully entering the USA, So why would Biden be against cancelling all the student loans owed by the LGBTQ “community” or every other “disadvantaged” Democrat constituency group that voted for him?

Yep. Just like Ms. Talid (or whatever her name is), well, a $200K salary just doesn't go as far as it used to.
Cry me a stinkin' river. Who the heck paid my student loans? Me. And who do I expect will pay my kid's student loans? Me, too (although I threatened the kid that if he flunks out, he's on the hook. Kid actually studies.). Boy, am I a sucker.

Like many gays (both men and women), this guy was just horsing around, going to school and playing at work until he found someone to support him. Mayor Pete was stupid enough to take him on, and like many before him, will eventually get tired of supporting Chasten and kick him to the curb. Then the mother of all cat fights will break out over alimony, child custody, and child support.

One partner earns $220K, plus fabulous health care, plus a fabulous pension, free parking at the Capitol and at Reagan Airport, plus free official printing and postage, plus more vacation days than work days, plus, plus, plus. I´m not going to complain about that if the Weasel boyfriend won´t complain about paying his own damned debt.
As a grad student I had $6,000 in student in total loans, which I repaid faithfully and ahead of schedule, bcause I was grateful to have had access to those funds, and needed them at the time. Chasten (who needs to be chastened) seems extremely ungrateful to the American people for financing his education. I was very grateful, and thought it was a huge help, which I was more than happy to repay.
Gratitude, Chasten, gratitude.

Stop your whining Chasten. You sound like Hillary! I guess being a part time teacher and "Activist" doesn't pay much these days. You (like Hillary) are riding on the coattails of your husband). Use you platform to advocate for something that people support. Having the little people pay off your student loans is not something you should be advocating at this time. Use you own (or hubby's) to pay your own student loans.

My son works in a factory. Makes considerably less than Buttgiggles. And made his $200/month student loan payment every month, throughout the pandemic and Mama Half-Whitmer's lockdowns. I would think that Mrs. Buttgiggles could do the same.

To counter this, taxpayers should declare that housing is a right and demand that the government should pay off all their mortgages.
