"No, my cat is not dangerous," says Iranian animal lover Mostafa, outraged by a proposal from ultraconservative lawmakers to ban pets. The 25-year-old, who runs a pet supplies shop on busy Eskandari Street in downtown Tehran, is stunned. "Crocodiles can be called dangerous, but how can rabbits, dogs and cats be dangerous?" he asked incredulously about the bill introduced a month ago. The proposed law pits growing numbers of people with pets against those who consider the practice decadent and hold that under Islamic law dogs, like pigs, are unclean. Proposed law is getting some pushback. Even in Iran there are limits to imposing Draconian Islamic laws.

Animals to be banned are "crocodiles, turtles, snakes, lizards, cats, mice, rabbits, dogs and other unclean animals as well as monkeys". Guess goats are ok? I'm sure Muslims would ban woman for the same reason except they need them.

Banning reptiles and monkeys is a great idea. Wish we had such a law here. Ditto vicious dogs. Cats are useful. They eat mice. But camels can be dangerous. Watch out Mooslums. Your camel may be next.

Yep, some Imam said it was ok to have sex with animals, but then they became unclean and had to be disposed of...guess thats why they eat so much goat...

RE #6: Ban reptiles? Some are useful. Audrey Hepburn kept a lizard as a pet in her NYC apartment because they feed on roaches. She told Johnny Carson that it ate so many roaches that she had to buy dried ones for it because it ate all of the live one in her apartment and she was afraid it would go hungry! Snakes also keep rats and mice under control and turtles are just cool to look at. The only reptiles that should be banned are the slimy ones in Washington D.C and those who voted for FJB!!

How can any of God's (or Allah's, if you will) creations be considered "unclean"? Who decided that? Don't know about the Koran, but the bible lists animals God says you're not supposed to eat. That doesn't make the animals themselves "unclean."

As a recent wave of mob-led store robberies has put retailers, mall operators and communities on edge, one popular shopping center is keeping an unusual security measure in place through the holiday season. The Grove, a famous open-air shopping complex in Los Angeles, has added a high coil fence barrier that resembles barbed wire at the property's entrances and exits. Management added the "tangled tape" coil fencing, which is made from a custom aluminum-and-steel mesh, ahead of Thanksgiving weekend. The fencing is installed nightly after the mall closes and removed before it reopens, and it's just one of the security
