CNN faces prime-time uncertainty after
firing Chris Cuomo

CNN’s firing of anchor Chris Cuomo leaves a major void in its crucial 9 p.m. hour, at a time when the network is already struggling to reverse a decline in ratings. Network President Jeff Zucker fired Mr. Cuomo on Dec. 4 after a legal review found that he had violated company standards by helping his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, respond to allegations of sexual misconduct. Chris Cuomo’s show, "Cuomo Prime Time," was CNN’s highest-rated program and a linchpin of its prime-time programming. Don Lemon is viewed internally as one contender to fill Mr. Cuomo’s time-slot, according to people familiar with the matter.

I agree with OP - Chris Wallace is available. I wouldn't be surprised at all if CNN made him an offer Fox declined to match.

Sports news outlet ESPN on Friday announced major layoffs affecting its on-air talent as a cost-cutting measure, following the suit of other outlets that have reduced their staff in the face of an industry-wide contraction. "Given the current environment, ESPN has determined it necessary to identify some additional cost savings in the area of public-facing commentator salaries, and that process has begun," ESPN announced. "This exercise will include a small group of job cuts in the short-term and an ongoing focus on managing costs when we negotiate individual contract renewals in the months ahead."

Newly resurfaced footage shows the disturbing DUI arrest of an alleged child rapist who had six young boys and girls in his car along with empty bottles of tequila and Fireball whiskey. Jeremy Guthrie was arrested last year on a New Mexico highway while driving erratically and police discovered the children — one of which he allegedly raped and impregnated after meeting on social media. Police bodycam footage from July 5, 2022, showed then 41-year-old Guthrie driving across a highway, and then behaving incoherently once stopped.

Sen. Marco Rubio says he has privately heard from "public figures" who have "firsthand knowledge" about UFOs, but many of those individuals are fearful about the consequences if they make their claims public. Rubio told NewsNation this week that he has spoken to people who have "firsthand knowledge, firsthand claims of certain things" involving UFOs. "Some are public figures," Rubio said. "I am trying to be protective of these people. Some of these people still work in the government, and frankly, a lot of them are fearful – fearful of their jobs, fearful of their clearances, fearful of their careers

A Michigan family is sounding the alarm about sextortion scams on social media after a Nigerian man allegedly drove their 17-year-old son, a high school football player, to commit suicide. Jordan DeMay, a student at Marquette Senior High School, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on March 25, 2022, after he was contacted by an Instagram account that appeared to be from a woman with the username “dani.robertts,” Fox News Digital reported. But the account had been hacked and sold to Samuel Ogoshi, a 22-year-old Nigerian who allegedly used the profile to force young men into sending him explicit images of themselves, according to the news outlet.

A leading UK school has banned pupils from addressing staff as “Sir” or “Miss” — calling it a battle against “cultural misogyny” inspired by the principal’s “sage,” Taylor Swift. Harris Westminster Sixth Form executive principal James Handscombe introduced the policy in an assembly at his London school Monday, saying it was “part of a wider reset” that couldn’t be left up to “old men to fix.” “We are changing the way that students refer to staff … No longer will it be acceptable to call us “Sir” or “Miss,'” he said, noting the inspiration of Swift singing “F–k the patriarchy.”

Gavin Newsom has set forth arguably the country's most ambitious state-level plan to transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy. However, when California's almost inevitable heat waves come in the summer and residents crank up their home air conditioners, officials turn on massive diesel-powered generators to make up for the state’s energy shortfall and to avoid rolling blackouts.

The headlines were stark and specific. Reuters claimed, “World registers hottest day ever recorded on July 3.” Well, “ever recorded” is misleading since the records have only been “recorded” since 1979. But what kind of a headline would that have been? At least the BBC was honest about their scare headline: “World’s hottest day since records began.” The bottom line: We’re all going to burn up and we’re all going to die unless we throw an hysterical climate change tantrum and demand that our government take panicky steps to save us from the climate change demons. An archbishop in the Church of England said the opening of the “Lord’s Prayer” is considered “problematic” to some people because the 2,000-year-old prayer starts by addressing God as “Our Father.” Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell told the General Synod, the legislating and ruling body of the Church of England, that referring to God as “father” might be offensive to some people because of the negative connotations of patriarchy. “I know the word ‘father’ is problematic for those whose experience of earthly fathers has been destructive and abusive, and for all of us who have labored rather too much from an oppressively patriarchal grip on life,” Cottrell said,

Stein’s Law holds that “If something cannot go on forever, it will stop.” The late Herbert Stein made the observation about economic trends, but his axiom perfectly describes Joe Biden’s shaky dance with political death. The president is trying to navigate a narrow path between two potential disasters. Each one could prove fatal to his tenure, but if the twain shall meet, he doesn’t have a prayer. And it’s a near certainty they will meet because the facts we already know are overwhelmingly stacked against him and more damaging information is coming soon. One track of his predicament stems from general public unhappiness with his performance.

Major legal rulings that dismantled the use of race in college admissions, undermined protections for LGBTQ people and tossed out President Joe Biden’s student debt relief program marked the end of a Supreme Court term in which the conservative supermajority continued to exert its dominance. The majority also doubled down on a controversial legal theory that limits the power of federal agencies to take unilateral action. Meanwhile, the justices rejected a far-fetched argument that would have limited the role of state courts in election disputes and turned away an aggressive attempt to challenge Biden administration immigration policy – both areas in which lawyers on the right might have overreached in their arguments.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was slammed for bowing multiple times when she met with China's vice premier He Lifeng, as some critics say the protocol error is a sign of American weakness. Yellen, who served as chair of the Federal Reserve before becoming Joe Biden's top financial official, wrapped up her first visit to China as treasury secretary on Sunday. Moments after bowing at least three times, Yellen then stumbled over He's name, calling him 'Vice Premier Hu.' Both Washington and Beijing said the meetings during her four-day trip were fruitful, although the visit - designed to help smooth a rocky relationship - did not generate any concrete agreements.
