Chicago (WLS) -- A 71-year-old man was shot and killed just steps from a Chicago Public Schools elementary school in Chinatown Tuesday afternoon. More than a dozen bullet casings mark the scene in the 200-block of West 23rd Place, near John C. Haines Elementary School.Police said around 12:30 p.m., someone driving a silver car fired out the window at a man on the sidewalk. "They shot him from the car and got out and did it even more," said Justin Tan, who lives nearby. "To me, that sounds like an execution." Police said the gunman then drove off and left the 71-year-old dying on the street.

Just one of over 800 murders in this city but this one is so very disturbing.

Has the killing moved up to doing it just for sport now? This 71 year old must have made someone very angry.

Chicago is a very dangerous place to be. With the city leadership entirely uninterested in slowing the violence, this will continue to accelerate, and go even farther out of control. I wonder if the days of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre had even this many murders in a year? My bet is that there were actually fewer killings in those days.

CWBChicago is reporting that the shooter was arrested last December for illegal gun possession, prosecutors only charged him with a misdemeanor, judge sentenced him to 2 days time-served. Yesterday he killed a 71 year old in cold blood.

Re #4. Further evidence proving my claim that the leaders of Chicago have absolutely NO interest in stopping this violence. They do NOTHING to keep these violent, armed felons from their "appointed rounds". Until the politicians are replaced and they replace the judges and others in "the system", nothing will change. The leaders don't seek to change anything.

In the meantime, Mayor Lori Lightfoot comments that it is the 71 year old victim's fault for being shot because he was out on the sidewalk. Maybe he should have hired some security, worn a bullet proof vest, or been in a safer area. How dare he attract shooter to an area near a school by being outside on a public sidewalk! He was just asking to be shot.

The FOIA documents revealed the VA’s failure to follow the law and its own regulatory requirements as it refuses to refer eligible veterans for community care, possibly cancels appointments without patient consent and dissuades veterans from seeking community care in call scripts. DAVIS, Calif. — Banana peels, chicken bones and leftover veggies won't have a place in California trashcans under the nation's largest mandatory residential food waste recycling program that's set to take effect in January. The effort is designed to keep landfills in the most populous U.S. state clear of food waste that damages the atmosphere as it decays. When food scraps and other organic materials break down they emit methane, a greenhouse gas more potent and damaging in the short-term than carbon emissions from fossil fuels. To avoid those emissions, California plans to start converting residents' food waste into compost or

Hillary Clinton lost, and now she needs to move on from the 2016 election. I’m not trying to be cruel or twist the knife. I mean this with all sincerity. She just needs to move on for her own good. The constant reliving of her failed campaign against former President Donald Trump is unhealthy. She’s clearly still upset about it. She’s clearly still angry. But she’ll never recover from her defeat so long as she continues to wallow in it, relentlessly poring over every excruciating detail. She’ll certainly never recover if she continues in both word and deed to define herself by her failed campaign.

Yes, Joe Biden is far and away the worst president in the history of the United States.
