In a recent Facebook post, the mayor of suburban Naperville says that he would support a removal of the state of Illinois’ mask mandate, even as COVID cases have continued to rise in recent weeks. Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico points to the fact that Illinois is the only state in the Midwest that still has a mask mandate on the books,(Snip)He goes on to argue that masks have a “minimal, if any,” impact on the spread of the coronavirus. “Fact: Illinois is the only Midwestern state that currently requires a mask, and yet as of today, we are no better off than the surrounding states,”

When will people realize.... the more covid measures in place, the more covid infections? the more vaccinations and boosters, the more covid outbreaks? (see Gibraltar) the more vaccinations, the more deaths of young people? the more government control, the more loss of freedom?

Spent some time in Michigan recently. No masks, not even servers in restaurants. A brief respite of freedom before returning to the Peoples' Republic of Illinois.

I spent eight days in the western suburbs of Chicago 2 weeks ago, and the only time I wore a mask was at church. There may be a mask mandate, but a lot of people ignore it.

Two studies done in July 2020. One by the CDC and one by an independent firm. The firm found that 'mask compliance' was at 85%. The CDC interviewed people who tested positive for covid and, guess what, mask compliance was 85%. Not 50%, which would indicate that you were three times more likely to get covid if you were unmasked/less likely to get it if you masked up... but 85%... Masks don't make a difference. Real world data. You have a right to be stupid but you don't have a right to impose that on anyone else.

Is there anyone at the CDC who is seeing any correlation between an increase in Covid cases and an influx of scores of people who are brought into communities without being vetted for ANY contagious diseases? Anyone?????????

The useless masks have always been a symbol of compliance, and to make non-maskers into enemies of the state.

In Texas, Dallas County Judge Clay(feet) Jenkins (d) has continued with mask mandates. But, maskless, I have not been challenged in any establishment. Fascism relies on private enterprise to enforce the laws/rules and most establishments here choose not to be police nor intimidate their customers. I have spoken with managers at local stores I frequent and none of their employees have been afflicted.

#4 That certainly was the case but it's slipping away. My congressional district went dem. We just moved out of there a couple of towns further west and it has been an eye opener. As our town slowly transitioned from middle class to upper middle class with McMansions replacing modest homes, we had some idea that the character was changing but until experiencing the contrast we had no clue how much. What a breath of fresh air it has been to live where people fly their flags, say hi in passing move their dogs to let you pass on the sidewalk. It's like returning to the land of normal. Overall Illinois might be a pleasant surprise to many. South of I80 it's primarily conservative, Peoria the largest exception.

If masks worked......why don't they WORK? If anything, states where masks are not required, like Florida, have LOWER numbers of cases of the Wuhan flu than places where the mask crazies run things, like California. Masks are clearly ineffective at preventing the spread of this virus. If they do anything at all, it is like a 1 or 2% effect, impossible to distinguish the situation of "masks" from "no masks". Feel free to wear one, I have no desire to tell you what to do, but I want to be free to not wear one. KC Metro area is a good example. One one side of the state line, in Kansas, no mask mandate. Across the state line, masks are mandated. Comparing Jackson County, Missouri (Kansas City Missouri) and Johnson County, Kansas (smaller Kansas cities just outside of KC, MO) the number of cases is about the same within a couple case/100K (119 vs 123 per 100,000) and deaths are 0 per 100,000 and 1 per 100,000, with the zero in Kansas, where masks are not required. The 123 is in Kansas....so some could claim that masks reduce cases by four per 100,000. I call that statistical noise. Death rates are so low that they never even talk about the death rates any more, only cases.
