In the upside-down morality of the left, it is perfectly acceptable for criminal gangs to target high-end stores free of consequences. At once ascribing poverty, immoral historical legacies, and contemporary systemic racism, we are supposed to believe that what is happening is actually a form of justice.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
There is no moral or humanitarian justification for the now-daily shoplifting and burglary sprees witnessed time and again in various California cities and across the country. Are the black youths hungry?
Shopkeepers need to learn two critical words: no witnesses.

The science is clear: there have been exactly 0 incidents of looting at stores protected by Korean shopkeepers carrying automatic weapons.

“Shoot to kill”. Then I am OK with the headline.

Since this is The People's Democratik Republik of Kalifornia where law abiding citizens are not allowed to be armed, perhaps they can try tranquilizer darts or Red Ryder bb guns. Start peppering these thugs with bbs and they will not want to hang around.
Of course, some slimy lawyer would probably sue some shop owners for the pain and suffering caused by bb hits, and being Kalifornia the perps would win.
Oh well Kalifornians. You may not have realized that this is what you would get when you turn your state into a one party rule government, but there you go. Good luck.

Funny thing.... we dont have this problem in South Florida. Wonder why??? Maybe it's the stand your ground laws and concealed carry laws we have. Law enforcement is supported here. Alot of libs live here but they tend to stay in their lane. Oh they try but they fail. The big exception is Miami Beach. Please stay away from there. Lib run mega crime.

There isn't any of this looting in Florida, Texas, and other states where people still have the right to use deadly force to defend their life and property.

First Koreans on roof tops that's a sound solution. Second like the strip mall jewelry store owner, automatic shatter proof locking front doors, cut off security camera by switch and blaze away at the trapped rats. Don't let them get out on the street keep them on the premises. Mop up the situation then call authorities or the morgue. It will only happen once after the perps see the danger of death involved. California, forget it that place is hopeless.

I agree 100%. And add shoot to kill if you're caught looting after a natural disaster.

Absolutely!! Put signs up warning deadly force will be used on anyone entering a place of business once that business has closed. Then shoot to kill. It becomes their choice. 100% of the businesses would have to do it. This could be stopped within a week.

Be VERY careful to know precisely what your state law says on 'defense of property' with deadly force.
In many states defending property is NOT part of the legal exception for 'self defense'. And even in states with clear language in the statutes which permit defense of property, in most states, there is a serious GOTCHA in the language which says "subject to the reasonable man theory" or similar words. Kansas has clear language about defense of home and property....but each kind is subject to this "reasonable person" test, written right into the law.
So....your jury will be very likely asked by a junkyard dog prosecutor, "Do you think that Mr. Jones here shooting down the dead man in cold blood to protect a $25 item is reasonable? Would you make that same choice to kill a fine, young man, in the prime of life who made just a moment's bad choice to steal a $25 item?" Or "Yes, this young man had broken a window and was stealing, but does he deserve to die for one mistake?" The prosecutors can be pretty nasty, and they can lie, as the Rittenhouse prosecutor repeatedly did.
And, in general, the fact that the "fine young man" is a gang banger, has ten felony arrests, or whatever will NOT be admissible in court, and will NOT be known by the jury. The prosecutor is free to paint him as a saint.
Think very, very hard before ONLY defending property with deadly force.
But there's a situation that a jury will likely understand. If the looters come at you with any weapon, or try to set you home on fire, with people inside, or do anything that is reasonably seen as risking your life or serious bodily harm - then the jury is very likely to understand use of deadly force.
A very rural farmer caught two young thieves stealing car parts off a vehicle in his farm yard. He had a rifle and decided that the best punishment would be to shoot out a tire on their vehicle, make them have to change it and buy a new tire. The thieves were not near the vehicle when he shot the tire. He didn't shoot at or even near them. They were not directly threatened. The farmer went to prison for a year for armed criminal action, the thieves were never charged. This was in Kansas about 20 years ago.
Be very careful when you defend property with force. A lot of prosecutors and many juries will not see deadly force or even wounding as reasonable unless your life or someone else's life is threatened pretty directly.

Saw this recently ... it was a bit of wisdom that came from the Rittenhouse trial: if government doesn't do it's job, every crime, no matter how petty, could come with a death sentence.

There is no rational basis for distinguishing protection of private commercial property and protection of private residential property. None. Shop owners should be permitted the same exercise of fundamental rights as homeowners.
The Left argues that "property is not as important as lives." They are correct and, as always, misstate the case. Civil Order is more important than their lives. That's what these criminals are taking, not just property.

Let me think. Autoparts, pharmacies, General merchandise, high end jewellers and fashion stores. For some reason I haven't heard about BLM/Antifa looting a gun store.

As will illegal immigration by people criminally entering the Nation by barging across the border; shooting just a very will stop this activity dead in it's tracks. Better that than many thousands of citizens enduring the travesties which result from allowing unfettered illegal immigration.

This is a situation where all conservative states should pass a clear law that anyone killed during or while fleeing from the commission of a felony is bought and paid for - no criminal charges or civil cases can be brought against their killer. And publish the list of felonies so there's no whining that they "didn't know!"
Come to think of it, that would be a suitable law for politicians and government bureaucrats who are stepping past the clearly defined constitutional limits, too.

Shoot to kill sounds harsh, it is harsh, but so is closing the stores because of thefts and the people who live there have to travel miles to find another store. people are put out of work, prices are raised on everyone.
And then the thieves cry racism because no stores, higher prices , and scream about the problems they caused.

I think the difference is in Democrat States, the Prosecutors have been placed there by Soros. That is why LOOTING runs rampant there. The Black Hooded Thugs know they will never spend a night in Jail. In Republican States, Yes, laws are different and the Thugs are aware of it. The Prosecutor WILL throw their sorry rears in Jail and not give them Bail. If they are repeat offenders, they are going to Prison for a long time. They know that too. THAT'S why Florida doesn't have Looting or Rioting and Burning down of our cities! Guess Democrat Voters just can't figure that out so they continue to put up with the hell holes they live in!

They can and they should. Vigilante justice is appropriate in the US today. US law enforcement and the criminal courts are controlled by communists bent on creating & maintaining chaos. People need to get armed, get trained, and join local Civil Protection Committees.
If law enforcement wants to cooperate by providing the locations of known predators, that would be helpful. .
