Guitar For Life Cafe was one of the only unlocked doors on West Main St. in downtown Waukesha on Monday morning, so I stepped inside to buy a cup of coffee. It quickly became clear the shop wasn’t actually open for business. The cafe was dark behind the front counter, with a handful of people scattered among the wooden hightops and stools, nursing paper cups of steaming coffee. It wasn’t immediately apparent when they were all doing there. A kind man pointed me in the direction of the complimentary dispenser: “Help yourself.”

Comments:

May God bless Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The good people of Waukesha have been betrayed by their local and state leaders. May they be blessed in the future with capable God fearing leaders.

Evil has been with us always. Mankind is tempted and simply chooses to do wrong - sometimes horribly so. But God remains. Love abides. The people of Waukesha who are suffering need our prayers for comfort and healing. They do not need the bottom feeders who will further politicize the event and only serve to divide us with more hatred. They do not need OUR anger - it isn't ours to own. Save our anger for those who would prey on us to make such events more likely in the future.

Huh? They taught us that you pay dearly when you suffer fools to govern your home territory and protect your family. Waukesha is not the only city suffering in this country for the very same reasons of mishandling and tolerating the very same class of people.

The Lodi School District official who asked police to respond to an orderly school board meeting earlier this month said police presence would make a board member “feel better.” “We would like to have a Lodi officer up at the district office,” Maureen Palmer, administrative assistant to District Administrator Vince Breunig says in a 911 call November 8 to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department. The audio was obtained by Empower Wisconsin. “He does not have to come lights and sirens, we just want to have him present at our board meeting the way it’s going,” Palmer says.

MSNBC is in some hot water after someone who was allegedly sent by one of the network’s producers reportedly got arrested while following the bus carrying the jury for the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and was suspected of trying to photograph them. The judge has since banned MSNBC from the courtroom for the rest of the trial. The man, who reportedly identified himself as James J. Morrison and said he was instructed to follow the jury by MSNBC’s Irene Byon, was pulled over and issued citations for running a red light. Police say that although they suspected he was attempting to take pictures, he didn’t obtain any photographs of the jury.

Given its massive military buildup, penetrations of Taiwanese air space with squadron upon squadron of top of the line fighter jets, continued industrial and military espionage, and island-building in the South China Sea, not to mention that it just built a range on which it can practice targeting US ships, you might think Red China poses the greatest threat to America and her interests abroad Not so, according to Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby (the same guy that was reticent to admit that dozens of families of American soldiers were stuck in Afghanistan).

During a signing ceremony for the infrastructure bill on Monday, President Biden praised the governors across America he worked with as vice president in the Obama administration—“save one.” He then took a potshot at former Gov. Sarah Palin without naming her, explaining, the one who "can see Alaska from her porch.” Biden got the “Saturday Night Live” joke completely wrong, given that he should’ve said Russia, not Alaska. Palin lives in Alaska so obviously she can see Alaska from her porch.

The Glasgow Climate Conference wrapped Friday with so much progress: There was a “joint pledge” by President Joe Biden and an indifferent Chinese dictator to slow down the changing climate sometime in the next decade or so; there was a call from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to “get on and do it,” whatever that means; there was even a column from The New York Times’ Tom Friedman on how, after seeing all the protests and listening to all the leaders, he’s feeling “very energized, and very afraid.” It was great. Refreshing, really. I loved it. Why? Because it felt like a return to normalcy:

New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney was ousted by Edward Durr, a little known Republican candidate who spent next to nothing on his campaign. For a bit, Sweeney held out hope that once all the legal votes were counted, he’d beat the commercial truck driver, but that didn’t pan out and he conceded this week. During an interview with Durr, Fox News’s Tucker Carlson asked if he has actually spoken to Sweeney since the election results came out. “Have you talked to Sweeney since you dethroned him? I mean, how baffled is he?” Carlson wondered.
The Kyle Rittenhouse Prosecutor’s Case
Comes Down To Rioting Good, Self-Defense Bad

If you follow the prosecution’s case against Kyle Rittenhouse, the only logical end is the assertion that self-defense is almost never an option and visiting the scene of a riot is only okay if you are there to burn property. There are other facets to lead prosecutor Thomas Binger’s arguments — that Rittenhouse, 18, was in illegal possession of a gun, that he showed up in Kenosha, Wis., that night of violent rioting because he was pursuing danger, and that he could have easily done things differently.

This year has seen the largest increase ever in the number of concealed handgun permit holders—more than two million, for a total of 21.52 million. That is a 48 percent increase since 2016. On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the case of NYSRPA v. Bruen, which has a chance to further increase this total and make permitting rules more similar across states. Six states now have more than 1 million permit holders: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Florida is the first state to have more than 2.5 million permits.

Leah has covered this New Jersey race extensively. It’s a state senate seat so it doesn’t get much attention but if you live in the Garden State, this is a huge upset. This is the New York Giants beating the Patriots in Super Bowl 42. New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney appears to have been beaten by a no-name Republican Edward Durr, who spent less than $100 to beat Sweeney. I’m deducting the $67 he spent at Dunkin’ Donuts. I’ve lived in New Jersey for most of my life. Sweeney owns South Jersey. He’s the labor union's top guy there.

Reading the recent column by fellow Blue State Conservative contributor John Eidson got me to thinking about educational experiences of my own. It’s always a good column when it makes one think. Reading it, there was a vivid memory of when I was working at a regional campus of The Ohio State University as an academic advisor. I met with a just-admitted young black woman from Cleveland, OH. I was looking forward to meeting her after having reviewed her high school transcript. It was all A’s and B’s with other indicators of academic excellence. In the spring of 2021 during my first year at the U.S. Military Academy, I was told that my decision to reject getting the “optional” COVID-19 vaccine would not negatively affect my time as a cadet at West Point. President Joe Biden promoted his efforts to lower gas prices on Tuesday, but he reminded Americans they would save more money on gas if they owned electric cars. “For the hundreds of thousands of folks who bought one of those electric cars, they’re going to save $800 to $1000 in fuel costs this year,” Biden said, referring to the $112,595 electric Hummer pickup he test drove at a General Motors factory in Detroit earlier this month. The president appeared frustrated that some Americans continue blaming his environmental agenda for higher gas prices, dismissing it as a “myth.” “My effort to combat climate change

Viewing America from outside the country adds a semi-neutral perspective on news and events. I’ve been told there’s value in hearing an outside viewpoint about people more intimately tied to the emotional maelstrom of unfolding events. Conversely, I find it helpful to receive information from people in the know, which adds to the volume and depth of my research. When it comes to Kamala Harris’s floundering, I’ve been hearing shocking gossip. I received this gossip directly from a Washington insider, It will be difficult to confirm until it happens, if it happens.

British experts have sounded the alarm over a new Covid variant believed to have emerged in Botswana that is the most mutated version of the virus yet. Only 10 cases of the strain, which could eventually be named 'Nu', have been detected so far. But it has already been spotted in three countries, suggesting the variant is more widespread. It carries 32 mutations, many of which suggest it is highly transmissible and vaccine-resistant, and has more alterations to its spike protein than any other variant.(Snip)Dr Tom Peacock, a virologist at Imperial College who first picked up on its spread, described the variant's combination of mutations as 'horrific'.

Donald Trump has all but formally announced his intentions to run for the presidency again in 2024, and his team is honing in on taking back five states Biden won in 2020 that he'd won in 2016. The former president's shadow campaign team polled Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which were decided in favor of President Biden by 3 percentage points or less. The team found that in Georgia, Trump would be ahead by 3 points, 8 points in Arizona, 12 points in Michigan, 6 points in Pennsylvania and 10 points in Wisconsin, if the race were held today.Together, the states represent 73 electoral votes.
