De Blasio opening first legal shooting
galleries for drug users in the US

With just four weeks left in office, Mayor Bill de Blasio launched the country’s first legal shooting galleries Tuesday morning, calling them safe havens for addicts—shortly before five people overdosed at just one of the clinics on opening day. “Overdose Prevention Centers are a safe and effective way to address the opioid crisis. I’m proud to show cities in this country that after decades of failure, a smarter approach is possible,” de Blasio said in a statement. The nonprofit-run centers, New York Harm Reduction Educators on E. 126th Street in Harlem and Washington Heights’ CORNER Project on W. 180th Street, opened Tuesday. There were five overdoses

Comments:

A rare business-friendly move by Rotten Apple authorities. Instead of junkies overdosing in Starbucks and McDonald's toilets and disrupting their revenues, this can happen on the city taxpayers' dime.

Defining Deviancy Down— “In 1993, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D., N.Y.) coined the phrase “defining deviancy down. Moynihan’s thesis was that, as a society, America has been “re-defining deviancy” so as to exempt conduct previously stigmatized, and quietly raising the “normal” level for behavior that was abnormal by earlier standards.” (Hat tip Think.com) Back when Democrat politicians weren’t all America-haters.

A Democrat's idea of "cleaning up the city" Their idea of cleaning their apartment is to shove 20 year's worth of old newspapers, melon rinds, coffee grounds, empty bottles, and other trash into the back bedroom. They have to disrupt the cycle of addiction with involuntary commitment to treatment facilities. Hey, they killed off the old people in their nursing homes. Room for addicts now. Lock them in. Even if they go in and out a dozen times and it never works for them, at least while they are in they won't overdose in a corner somewhere. That's SOMETHING. Better than this, just relocating all the OD's.

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday that public health officials don’t yet know how well COVID-19 vaccines will work against the omicron variant. “We know it has many mutations, more mutations than prior variants, and many of those mutations have been associated with more transmissible variants with evasion of some of our therapeutics and potentially invasion—evasion of some of our immunity, and that’s what we’re watching really carefully,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky said on ABC’s “This Week.” “What we don’t yet know is how transmissible it will be, how well our vaccines will work, whether it will lead to more severe disease.”
