House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) issued a statement Wednesday on the Supreme Court case Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, where she said the Court has the responsibility to “honor the Constitution” and uphold abortion rights.
The Dobbs case, as I’ve been covering, surrounds the constitutionality of a 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi. Dobbs is the first case in decades with the potential to overturn landmark cases Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which gave women the right to an abortion.

I may be pro choice (within defined limits) but even I know abortion is not in the constitution. Didn't this woman say she was retiring? So do it already.

Mutually exclusive, dimwit. It's one or the other.
Most unsupportable decision ever, next to Dred Scott and Wickard v. Filburn.

That Supreme Court decision, when it comes out, will not include Pelosi’s call. Pelosi would not be happy if the Supreme Court interfered with bills that will be voted on in the House of Representatives.

Been counting the votes based upon who asked what question. I think Barrett and Gorsuch are the swing votes. Roberts will try his middle of the road approach, but eventually side with the libs. Kavanaugh, Thomas, and Alito will support the ban.

Queen Nancy has spoken and she expects to be obeyed. Personally, I expect pro-life position will win this one. What the democrats need is a way to gin up their base before the midterms. What better way than get the pink hatted radicals in high dudgeon? They need that portion of their base to be enraged and it will be. That rage will carry right into 2024. It will give democrats two years to demonize the decision. Americans are ready to put restrictions on abortion because of the physical evidence we can all see on sonograms and ultrasounds. Even pro-choice advocates are acknowledging the fact that the image is a baby. Democrat dogma has come up against science, once again.

The duty and responsibility of the SCOTUS is SOLELY to interpret and apply what is in the Constitution and is bound by NOTHING else; neither the decisions of Congress, opinions of the Speaker, the feminists of the USA and the rest of "the woke" movement, the results of news polls or the views of any other pressure groups within the USA and, even less, of anybody or any organization outside the USA. There is no precedent, even from SCOTUS itself, that forever BINDS the SCOTUS, despite the passage of time since that precedent was set. Precedents are merely guiding posts and never binding rules and must take into account the individual circumstance of the case under consideration and ANY changed circumstances since the precedent was set. Stare Decisis only has meaning so long as the Decision was CORRECT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND ACCORDING TO LAW, free of any biases and external considerations forced by political and social pressures and prejudices prevailing at the time it was made, and NOTHING has changed in the meantime, particularly objective but relevant advances or discoveries in science which impinge upon the factors and contemporary knowledge that underwrote the original decision.

Pelosi is an inveterate vote counter. Which means she's getting very nervous, especially after the Supreme Court's image was tarnished even more by audio of the tawdry antics of Sotomayor and her fatuous, insensitive, belligerent questions.
It doesn't require a 'conservative' to state that duly-passed MS law is constitutional. What it DOES require is a justice who isn't a cynical, agenda-driven ideological hack who's prejudged the case and aims merely to torpedo one side or the other.
Pelosi is also a magical thinker and prone to blurting out Democrats' plans. If their plan is to whine and moan then we know that they know they don't have much of a case.

One more thing - Roberts, Kavanaugh and Barrett are Catholics - do they really want to risk their mortal souls?

The Roe v Wade mass murder decision has cost this country more deaths than were racked up in all the wars from 1775 to the present. Those were people who would range in age from birth to 48 years, some 47 MILLION would be now adult people including doctors, lawyers, criminals, mothers and fathers, farmers, ranchers, and about six million college age and 20 million K-12. Their children have to be counted in the loss as well. This has to be the most ugly thing ever done in this country.

a "penumbra" is NOT in the Constitution-- it was made up.
There were no precedents to consider, it was just made up.
The individual STATES should have authority in these matters.

If Pelosi could swing it she would cancel the entire Supreme Court and make all the decisions that would be made by the Supreme Court herself.

I have scoured the Constitution looking for the word 'abortion' for the life of me I can't find it or even slightly addressed by 'my body my choice'. No, the Founding Fathers didn't address it. Nancy Pelosi is just plain 'nuttier than a fruitcake'.

Pelosi said "the Court has the responsibility to “honor the Constitution” and uphold abortion rights."
The Constitution establishes three co-equal branches of government. Peloisi has the responsibility to honor the separation of powers defined in the Constitution.
Pelosi, as a member of Congress, has NO BUSINESS telling the Supreme Court what their responsibilities are.
