CDC director: We don’t yet know how
well vaccines will work against omicron variant

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday that public health officials don’t yet know how well COVID-19 vaccines will work against the omicron variant. “We know it has many mutations, more mutations than prior variants, and many of those mutations have been associated with more transmissible variants with evasion of some of our therapeutics and potentially invasion—evasion of some of our immunity, and that’s what we’re watching really carefully,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky said on ABC’s “This Week.” “What we don’t yet know is how transmissible it will be, how well our vaccines will work, whether it will lead to more severe disease.”

Comments:

They don't know, but we're urged to get boosters immediately. I say the urgency aims to clear the shelves of old stock before the updates become available, because that's profitable.

If you don't know if the vaccines are effective against it, why are you recommending boosters of the same vaccines ?

Seems like the preliminry info says no and this variant is highly infectious but very mild. Seems we will be replacing delta with a cold that will burn out. Stop the jab, stop creating variants and killing and maiming the population with the jab

Thanks, but I'll wait until an effective vaccine is developed, or maybe not. I no longer trust my government. I won't consider it a pandemic until the body wagons roll through the neighborhoods, with the drivers calling, "bring out your dead....."

From what is being reported from countries that have people affected, the mutation is very mild and nothing to freak out about. Ignoring this information is just another power and wealth grab by the greedy left.

They don't work well against the original version or the delta version, either. Perhaps they reduce severity of the symptoms, perhaps. But they do not stop infection, transmission or even severe illness in huge numbers. Countries with 95+% vaccinated have hospitals filled with sick vaccinated people. And of course......around18-20,000 dead and about a million harmed by the virus, many very seriously injured, hearts that may never recover.

Why on earth would anyone need a vaccine for a virus that hasn't killed one single person yet? It's a cold!! Get the tissues and aspirin. There, that'll help.

Amazing, these corrupt bureaucrats know the current vaccines and boosters do not keep people from getting covid nor does it keep them from transmitting covid, so they know the vaccine isn't effective against covid. So, they should also know that it isn't effective against this variation or any other. What they do know is that they can scare people into compliance either through lies about the disease or through threats fo losing their livelihood and that ladies and gentlemen is the real purpose of this entire exercise.

A modern-day slavery ring has been busted in Georgia where workers were raped, kidnapped and imprisoned in squalid camps, according to prosecutors. The crooks raked in more than $200 million by luring in over 100 desperate migrants from Mexico and Central America to the US, a federal indictment says. At least two people died in the brutal conditions that saw workers forced to handpick onions at gunpoint for just 20 cents per bucket in sweltering heat, and another was repeatedly kidnapped and raped. They were kept in squalid camps surrounded by electric fences or cramped living quarters, including dirty trailers with raw sewage leaks.
