Why election night in Bergen County seemed

The mood was somber in the ballroom at Hilton Hasbrouck Heights. More than 200 Democrats had gathered the night of the election in expectation of landslide party victories across the board. Instead, they watched the unthinkable happen as results rolled in and county Democratic candidates were losing in every race. (Snip) So the turnaround was stunning when, shortly before midnight, a group of candidates emerged from the elevator with Commissioner Chairman Steven Tanelli leading the way, smiling brightly and shaking hands. Declaring themselves winners, they took to the stage, jubilant. Even then, the numbers on the Bergen County clerk’s website

Comments:

Somehow Dems knew they would pull out a win even though 'revised' vote totals had not yet been tabulated.

With Mail in ballots, if you’re a member of the ‘correct’ Party, how can you lose?

Because they know the mail-in ballots (ballots from nowhere) always favor the Dems. Because Dems just prefer mailing their ballots, right? WA and OR send a flurry of ballots out to everyone they can find. In fact, I don't believe you can vote in person in OR, but then OR is not really part of the United States, is it?

Mail-in ballots must be outlawed in all 57 states. They could be coming from Mars for all we know and ALWAYS favor the democrat. This is New Jersey so they always assume the worst, which is what they always get.

We need to go back to paper, in-person ballots, only, sealed with your thumbprint. Election day is known far in advance. If you want to vote, arrange your schedule, accordingly. The ONLY people who should be voting by mail are soldiers, out of the country, perhaps State Department personnel, and people who are mentally competent and physically unable to come to the polls. And ALL OF THEM, should seal their ballot with a thumbprint.

I am skeptical that it is possible to transparently validate 41,000 signatures in a single day. Have they been transparent about the methodology end-to-end? And the guy in charge is out of the country?

Until somebody produces a data showing why mail-in ballots are ridiculously favorable for Democrats, I think Republicans deserve the same presumption of systemic discrimination claimed by BLM.

So here's what we have to believe - - - - • With "100%" of the votes counted - - Ciattarelli was up by 9,000 votes. • Then they counted 41,950 "mail-in" votes - - and Murphy was then up by 40,000 votes. So - - apparently Murphy received 49,000 of the 41,950 mail-in votes - - and Ciattarelli received NONE. That is the only way those reported numbers could have happened. Is Joisey crooked? The number of sealed, mail-in ballots should be counted and reported before any in-person counting begins. That way, the cheaters can't hold out to determine how many mail-ins they need to win.

Worn out by what they see as entrenched dysfunction and lack of focus, key West Wing aides have largely thrown up their hands at Vice President Kamala Harris and her staff -- deciding there simply isn't time to deal with them right now, especially at a moment when President Joe Biden faces quickly multiplying legislative and political concerns. The exasperation runs both ways. Interviews with nearly three dozen former and current Harris aides, administration officials, Democratic operatives, donors and outside advisers -- who spoke extensively to CNN -- reveal a complex reality inside the White House. Many in the vice president's circle fume

He explained how the legislation would benefit communities of color, where he found little support when he ran for president. Later, the former mayor touted the plan at the COP26 climate summit in Scotland, enjoying a global spotlight. And he posed for photos with former president Barack Obama, smiling as the popular ex-president rested a hand rested on Buttigieg’s shoulder. At the same time

Wisconsin Judge Bruce Schroeder took some criticism Thursday after requesting during the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial in Kenosha that attendees applaud for the nation’s service members on Veterans Day. During a moment in the day’s proceedings, Schroeder asked if any veterans were present in the courtroom. Only John Black, a use-of-force expert who was later called to the witness stand by the defense, claimed to have served in the military, identifying himself as an Army veteran, The Associated Press reported. "I think we give a round of applause to the people who’ve served our country," Schroeder then said, drawing a

As Vermont reports higher than ever COVID-19 case rates, state health officials have been trying to understand why. How can a state that did so well during the first part of the pandemic — even garnering national recognition — be doing so much worse now? "There is not one simple answer," said Vermont Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine during a news conference Tuesday. "But, there are clearly factors that have come together to create the situation that we're in now." Slowing the spread is critical right now to prevent Vermont's hospitals from being overwhelmed with people sick with the virus, Levine said.

HELENA, Mont. — A new map dividing Montana into two congressional districts for the first time in decades was finalized Tuesday, triggering disappointment from Democrats who hoped to craft a different western district that would give them a better chance of winning in an increasingly Republican-dominated state. WASHINGTON — Pete Buttigieg, the transportation secretary who holds the purse strings to much of President Joe Biden’s $1 trillion infrastructure package, was holding forth with reporters on its impact — the promise of more electric cars, intercity train routes, bigger airports — when a pointed question came. How would he go about building racial equity into infrastructure? The 39-year-old former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate laid out his argument that highway design can reflect racism, noting that at least $1 billion in the bill will help reconnect cities and neighborhoods that had been racially segregated or divided by road projects. CORRECTIONS*
