Sen. Chuck Grassley said Attorney General Merrick Garland’s stubborn refusal to retract the “domestic terrorism” memo authorizing federal law enforcement to target frustrated parents who speak out against local school boards will have a “chilling effect” on parents’ willingness to hold their children’s education system accountable.
In a Senate floor speech delivered on Monday, the Iowa Republican explained how Garland made an “extraordinary” admission that he “instructed the FBI to get involved with local school boards” and doesn’t have any plans of rescinding his memo directing that action.

Won’t make any difference at all. When they start telling parents they can’t have any say about their kids? Waking a sleeping giant. Don’t get between a Mom and here kids. FBI doesn’t stand a chance.

OP: Chuck Grassley is one of the very few good politicians. His shoes will not be easily filled. There is charisma in a man that is able to work and work hard when he is 88. I believe terms should be limited but Grassley is an example for why they should NOT be limited.

a chilling effect
Isn't that the point? It makes more money for Garland's daughter and son in law. (Does he share their bank account like someone else? )

Anywhere else, a talentless dweeb like Garland would be working in a cubical, calculating compound interest on children's savings bonds. But here, he is part of the regime, loyal and without morals. He is a company man, much like all men in totalitarian regimes are. I have little doubt that if he could, he would order the arrest, show trial, and execution of those same parents.

Pretty sure that was the very point of what Chekist Garland had in mind.

Merrick Garland would fit nicely into the old Soviet system of government. He would be the equivilent of Mikhail Suslov. Who? This man held the post of party theoretician and advised the politburo on domestic matters. Garland holds that unofficial post in the party while also being the chief law enforcement commissar, er, official in this administration. You think this a joke? Don't! Gulags were filled wth people not towing the Suslov line.

And what will the Republican Senate do? NOTHING! When do they cross the aisle to support the Democrat's BBB (Back Breaking Budget) program? If the Democrats cannot get Manchin and Sinema in line, they will have to call in Republican favors. You have to believe they are out there. My money is on Romney and Graham.

We know it has a chilling effect, that is part of the problem. That and doing things like hauling off a father in handcuffs when he becomes irate about his young daughter being sodomized in school and the school lying about it and covering it up. If there is nothing our elected politicians, admittedly in the minority, can do other than state the obvious and send strongly worded letters--they might as well resign and go home. Or go on strike. Or search the constitution and laws for any remedy they can find for an absolutely lawless and anti-American administration.

I guess I'm not done. Is there nothing they can do about patriotic Americans being held without cause and treated worse than terrorists for attending a peaceful rally? A rally infiltrated by FBI and Antifa, who--with the cooperation of the DC police--framed the innocent Americans? I applaud the four congresspersons who went to the jail, but what happened? Nothing, that's what. The courts, including SCOTUS, are against us. We are now without legal remedy for these injustices. That only leaves a couple of options, both of which they are hoping for: give up, or resort to violence. I think they are trying to push us toward the latter in order to justify, in their minds, the confiscation of our constitutionally protected right to bear arms.

People will start going to these meetings armed, and if anyone shows up there who looks like a fed and isn't local, they will have someone standing behind them the whole time. They myth about most agents being good Americans is over. They will obey orders no matter how unconstitutional.
Its sad. They were once an agency with honor and integrity. Now if I was on a jury I would be more likely to believe the suspect.

I don’t think Sen. Grassley fully understands who he’s questioning here. He doesn’t realize that this…person in the office of Attorney General of the United States is in fact a Nazi, kinda like a Himmler.
I agree with all here. I’ve always had respect for the Senator. He’s disappointed me at times in the past and sometimes I don’t agree with him. It doesn’t alter my opinion of him. But he don't know who he’s dealing with across the aisle.

Grassley has been a member of the good old boys club over in the Senate since around the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He still thinks you can observe comity and decorum when dealing with communists like Garland.
Communists only understand one thing.

I like Senator Grassley, I really do. I always have. He's a good man, and a patriot. But it's a problem when Chuck is one of the loudest Republican voices on issues like this one. The guy is 88 years old and never had much charisma to begin with. Can someone else step up to the plate here? Please?
