Tent encampments in parks and under bridges aren't the only signs of a housing problem in the Twin Cities. In Minneapolis and St. Paul, rent control measures are on the November ballot for the first time in both cities, a reaction to skyrocketing prices. House prices are at record highs, rents are on the rise and, among large metros, the Twin Cities has the lowest housing vacancy rate in the nation, according to new census data.(Snip)In the Twin Cities metro, where housing costs are increasing far faster than wages, keeping lower income people housed is increasingly difficult. Republican Reps. Jim Banks and Marjorie Taylor Greene were dinged by Twitter this week for saying that Rachel Levine, a transgender Biden administration official, was a man. Mr. Banks of Indiana said Saturday that his official account was suspended after he tweeted, “The title of first female four-star officer gets taken by a man,” referring to Dr. Levine’s promotion to four-star admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Meanwhile, Twitter placed a “hateful conduct” warning on—but did not remove—a tweet by Ms. Greene, Georgia Republican, that said, “A dude who lived the first 50 years of his life as a man isn’t the first female anything.”

My first shot at burning down our house was rather less effective than my second. I was a small boy and it was the morning after Bonfire Night.(Snip)It cost a small fortune, but it was worth it. I was helping to save the planet and saving myself the cost of buying nasty, polluting oil. The perfect win-win, I told myself. A toasty house whatever the weather and a minuscule energy bill.(Snip)The sad reality is I’ve spent a small fortune and have not ended up with a cosy house. And I wonder: how many of us would—or even could—pay at least £10,000 for a heating

Unvaccinated Americans are more likely to die of non-Covid causes than those who got their shots, a new report finds.
Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) compared deaths among those aged 12 and older who got any of the three authorized vaccines in the U.S. to teens and adults who did not. Deaths due to causes unrelated to the virus were up to three times more likely in unvaccinated people than those who got either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid vaccines. And non-COVID-19 fatalities were nearly twice as likely among Americans who were not jabbed compared to those who received the one-shot

President Biden is being dragged on social media after a moment in his CNN town hall performance that has users comparing him to the cartoon “Beavis and Butthead.” While listening to a question from CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Biden stood on the stage with his arms bent in front of him and fists closed. Uhhhh Beavis……” former Australian NBA player Andrew Bogut tweeted with a laughing face emoji.(Snip)“That or he’s about to transform into cornholio,” one user wrote,

Homeland Security reported another 192,001 encounters with illegal immigrants on the southwestern border in September, topping off one of the worst fiscal years on record. The monthly total marked a slight decline from July and August, which Customs and Border Protection touted as a needed improvement. But the numbers were still startlingly bad for an administration that insists it has things under control along the boundary with Mexico. Fiscal year 2021 ended with 1.7 million encounters with illegal immigrants. Nearly all of those came on the watch of President Biden, and security experts attribute the number to policy changes and a lack of enforcement since his inauguration.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki argued that President Joe Biden did take a border trip—pointing to a 2008 campaign drive-by-while also saying the president doesn't need a 'photo-op' to understand the migrant crisis during Friday's briefing, as new September figures revealed 1.7 million migrants have been apprehended so far this year.(Snip)The White House press secretary was being prodded about a claim Biden made at Thursday night's CNN town hall—that he had 'been there before' and that he knew it 'well.' By "worst" they mean "best." Massive demographic transformation and unsustainable demands on the taxpayers, from free public education in Spanish and food stamps for anchor babies, and free medical care, along with depressed wages for Legacy Americans and lack of tax on income earned under the table, will break the back of this fool nation once and for all, ushering in the communism we crave.
