America's oldest-ever living president just turned 97. Jimmy Carter celebrated the milestone at his home in Plains, Georgia, with his wife of 75 years, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter. "There are no public events planned for President Carter's 97th birthday, which he will spend in Plains," the Carters' spokeswoman tells PEOPLE. The spokeswoman added that the public could "send their birthday wishes" via an online card at the couples' Carter Center. Among the many messages shared online were memories of their service or meeting them in Georgia. Born Oct. 1, 1924, in Plains, Carter served as a state senator and

And he sits there with a huge smile on his face knowing that the impossible has happened. In his lifetime, he not only is not the worst president in history any more, he's not even the 2nd worst president in history. Senile Joe biden and Ovomit the Commie have taken the title from him!!! In the 1980's, I would have sworn that we never could have had a worst president than Carter. It just wasn't physically possible. If only I had been right... Deep sigh!!!

It's funny - hilarious - that Democrats' list of presidents emeritus is so odious that Biden's only option upon taking office was kissing the ring of the cowardly Carter. Obama is the puppetmaster, Bill Clinton is radioactive and, er, there are no others. The revisionists have been hard at work since 1980 when the one-termer was mercifully cut loose. Never have a decade and a presidential inauguration been more blissfully aligned as Reagan, literally in his inauguration tuxedo, announced the return of the hostages that the feckless Carter had left to stew in Iran. Those who lived through the 70s and especially Carter's dismal term are sad to see it being repeated now but at least we can recognize all aspects.

In 2015, at 90 years of age Carter announced that, like his father, mother and three siblings, he had developed cancer and it had metastasized to his brain and liver. Now, nearly seven years later Carter is still alive. No offense Jimmy, but what has gone wrong?

I will never forget carter promised to shut down the steal mills. Union run. Jobs would be lost. But people still voted for jimmy I don’t know who was more stupid. Carter. Or the people who opted for him. He did shut down our steal mills. So many people lost jobs and the industry was ruined. The crappie steal that was imported was horrible. Cars rusted out in 18 months time. History is repeating itself. But instead of jobs being lost, people are losing their lives!

Actually, #11, my wife was a roofing crew leader on several H for H homes. The good news is that the were built to normal building code, and not shoddy. She always started her willing but amazingly unskilled HS and college kid "roofers" on the back of the house where their inevitable slightly crooked lines of shingles while she was training them wouldn't be noticed. By they time they got to the front side, the shingles look great. I taught her to roof. Grin.

RE #'s 11 & 19: I worked on H4H houses several times as part of my architecture schooling, as well as part of the sweat equity required for my sister and BIL's house. In addition, my alma mater, Mississippi State has had a Habitat house build every year for the last 13 years. I'm here to tell you, these houses are absolutely NOT shoddy and are often the only way that some families can afford housing. I'm damn proud to have been associated with their construction, both as a student and as a sister of a recipient family. Happy Birthday to Jimmy Carter and thank you for founding this organization.

An upstate New York county is being forced to send human bodies to a hospital 50 miles away for autopsies because its prominent medical examiner has not been vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to county officials. Rensselaer County moved autopsies on Friday to Glens Falls Hospital from Albany Medical Center Hospital, which requires everyone who works there to be vaccinated, Richard Crist, the county's director of operations, told the Times Union. The county's medical examiner, Dr. Michael Sikirica, had been performing the county's autopsies at the Albany hospital. Although Sikirica does not work at that hospital, all doctors who provide

It's too soon to say whether the pandemic has eased enough for families to gather for Christmas this year, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday. Fauci, making the Sunday talk show rounds, said on CBS News' "Face the Nation" that Americans first need to focus on lowering the number of new infections and hospitalizations. The best way to do that: Vaccination and booster shots, he said. "We've just got to concentrate on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we're going to do at a particular time," Fauci said.

Warring factions of the Democratic party are bracing themselves for a potentially bruising month of negotiations over the two massive economic and social packages that have reached an impasse in Congress threatening to derail Joe Biden’s first term in office. With Democratic leaders racing against a new 31 October deadline to pass the legislation, and with pressure building on the White House from both centrist and progressive wings of the party, the centerpiece of Biden’s agenda now hangs in the balance. Democratic prospects in next year’s midterm elections are also at stake. The outcome of the current party wrangling will

Homeowners who refuse to take part in a hydrogen energy trial will be forcibly cut off by gas network operators, under Government plans to test green heating alternatives. Residents in one village will begin the pilot scheme by 2025 to help the Government assess whether hydrogen gas can be used as a low-carbon alternative for heating homes across the country. Ministers insisted the powers to enter people's homes and switch off their gas would only be used as a "last resort" if the homeowners had refused to engage with any other options. Progressive Democrats have welcomed the delay in Congress' vote on the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, which they say should be linked to the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better package. The House of Representatives was due to vote on the bipartisan bill on Thursday, but the vote was postponed after late-night negotiations among the Democrats and divisions between progressives and moderates in the party. The $1.2 trillion bill passed the Senate in August with bipartisan support, but progressive Democrats had said they would not vote for it unless the $3.5 trillion package advanced alongside it. Some people possess a version of a gene which can potentially restrain the virus which causes Covid-19, a study has indicated. The findings offer an explanation for why some people have better natural defences against serious Sars-CoV-2 infection, say scientists. Scientists suggest antiviral responses are better in people who have a more protective “prenylated” version of the OAS1 gene, while others have a version which fails to detect the virus. But if new variants learn to evade the protection offered by the prenylated gene they could become “substantially more pathogenic and transmissible in unvaccinated populations”, say experts.
