With a potential default looming for the U.S. in October, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Thursday she would just as soon see the power over debt limits taken away from Congress. A bill introduced in May would repeal the national debt ceiling, and Yellen said “yes, I would” when asked during a House hearing if she backs the effort. She noted Congress makes the decisions on taxes and spending, and should provide the ability to pay those obligations. “If to finance those spending and tax decisions, it’s necessary to issue additional debt, I believe it’s very disruptive to put the

The debt ceiling always gets raised. But continually surpassing it should be flashing red lights that we are spending way too much. Democrats just want to spend us into oblivion without even the slightest roadbump.

The Federal Government has the duty to control our currency, not the Federal Reserve that consists of Wall Street billionaires whose agenda is not congruent with the general population and best for the country. The people should decide our debt limits, we have to pick up the tab when things go wrong. Those folks who sit on the Fed don't have to.

Queen Elizabeth II, the world's longest-reigning living monarch, is a picture of good health even at 95 years of age. One of the reasons the monarch has aged so gracefully is that she follows the advice of her nutritionists and doctors, but she wasn't very happy when she was recently asked to drop her daily cocktail. Although the Biden administration recently announced that the Port of Los Angeles will transition to 24/7 operations to help alleviate supply chain bottlenecks, the port's executive director, Gene Seroka, said a timeline for when that schedule change will actually take effect remains unclear. "It’s not a single lever we can pull today to open up all the gates, but what we’re doing is trying to squeeze every minute, every hour of efficiency out of this port complex that we can, sharing information, building on those strong decades-long relationships, and with the strength of the federal government behind this," Seroka said

Los Angeles - Dozens of behemoth cargo ships adorned with tall stacks of brightly colored containers still dot the coastline off southern California. Part of a shipping bottleneck plaguing US ports, the ships – their diesel-fueled engines always ablaze – are also pumping out pollutants as they idle, anchored off-shore. The clogged supply chain has been described as an economic calamity as the delayed cargo caused shortages in common goods and drove consumer prices higher.
