UK Survey Finds Young People Are Twice
as Likely to Pray as Older People

Original Article

A survey in the U.K. found that 51 percent of 18 to 34-year-olds said they pray at least once a month, while only 24 percent of those 55 and older said the same. The associate director of the polling company that conducted the survey, Savanta ComRes, suggested that the finding could be partially attributed to the proliferation of virtual prayers and religious services during the pandemic. Ten percent of British adults reported in January that their faith is stronger as a result of the pandemic, according to the Pew Research Center. Growth in faith during the pandemic was even more pronounced in the U.S.

Comments:

This seemed to me to be great news, and I hope it is true. But, my default is to assuming that "praying" is to our Judeao-Christian God, Yahweh
Then I wondered how many are praying to Allah in the UK now? No mention of whether they included Muslims in the survey, but there are a whole lot of them in UK now.

I suspect, DVC, that this reflects the Muslim population in the UK. They have larger families, therefore add young people to the population at a higher rate than the British population. And even a minimally observant Muslim participates in prayer, maybe not 5 times a day, but at least on Friday if they attend a Mosque.

We have a perpetual adoration chapel in my parish and I have an hour I spend on Saturday. I am amazed each week at the number of young men and women who drop in for a few minutes to an hour of prayer.

Heard a thoughtful sermon last Sunday which repeated the phrase "everything is different now" more than once, and I wanted to speak to the deacon who gave the sermon, but he left before I could get to him. (Everyone is trying to figure out what's going on in the world, young and old.) By happenstance, I read an ICYMI (in case you missed it) transcript of an August 15, 2021 interview with Archbishop Vigano where he is asked a series of 18 questions by Dr. Robert Moynihan, Editor of Inside the Vatican. Subjects are so wide-ranging and comprehensive that I reread the transcript four times. It covers problems we are facing now with history of how they came about. In the last paragraph of Vigano's answer to question #9 you read "...without understanding the dimensions of the problem...we will never be able to get out of it..." He continues his thoughts in #10's answer as well. Well worth the read.

p.s. to my comment No. 6 I read about the interview with Archbishop Vigano on Liberty Daily. Title of their article was a quote taken from Vigano's interview and the way whole piece can be pulled up. "Archbishop Says Pope Francis is a 'Zealous Cooperator' of the Globalist 'Great Reset' Plot.

The COVID Survey That Should Have Rocked

In March 2021, a year into the Covid-19 pandemic, the New York Times shared the results of a comprehensive survey of 35,000 Americans done by Gallup and Franklin Templeton. True to form, the Times refused to face the survey’s epic implications. The Times started pulling punches in the headline, “Covid’s Partisan Errors: Republicans tend to underestimate Covid risks — and Democrats tend to exaggerate them.” This equivocation papered over the real news hook of the story, namely that health officials and their media enablers scared policy makers, especially in blue states, into making catastrophic, fear-based misjudgments.

Texas authorities say an armed customer intervened during the attempted robbery of a fried chicken fast food restaurant, fatally wounding one gunman and sending a second suspect struck by gunfire to the hospital. Port Arthur police responded around 8:45 p.m. Friday to an aggravated robbery happening at the Church’s Chicken location at 1849 Jefferson Drive. Detectives learned that two suspects armed with handguns were robbing the restaurant, but an armed citizen intervened and a shootout ensued. "Several shots were fired and both suspects were struck," the Port Arthur Police Department said in a press release. "The suspects fled the scene and were later located by police officers."

Chants of "F*** Joe Biden" rained down from the crowd at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway after Brandon Brown captured his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race victory. The anti-Biden chants came during Brown’s post-race interview. After Brown told a reporter his victory was a "dream come true," the crowd began to loudly shout in unison their displeasure with the president. The reporter acknowledged the chants and claimed the fans were shouting "Let’s go Brandon!" NASCAR initially posted video of the interview with the chant but later deleted the tweet. Fox News reached out to NASCAR to ask why the post was taken down but did not immediately receive a response.

Homeschooling numbers have increased over 300% in the last two years, according to federal government Census data. This spike does not include Americans engaged in virtual learning through a public or private school program due to COVID protocols. These are full-time homeschoolers. The United States Census Bureau has been tasked with collecting data through nationwide surveys for over 80 years. The data are intended for use by other government agencies and elected officials for policy decisions. This is the first time the Census Bureau has sought to identify the total number of homeschoolers in America. Previous surveys only marked children who were un-enrolled

What they did is they extended the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer drug vaccine that’s available in the U.S.  CORRECTION*

The Austin Police Department announced it will no longer respond to calls for "non-emergencies" after a cut to the police budget in 2020 led to staffing shortages. Mackenzie Kelly, an Austin City Council member, said the decision to defund the police has led to "disastrous consequences" in the city. The Austin City Council voted in August 2020 to cut up to $150 million – roughly 34% – from the police budget. By the end of July, Austin reported that the number of homicides in 2021 had already matched the total homicides in all of 2020. "A lot of what we’re seeing happening starting today is coming home to roost from that decision,"

Victoria has extended vaccination mandates to more than one million workers on the authorised worker list after another day of more than 1,000 locally-acquired Covid cases. On Friday the state recorded 1,143 new local cases and three coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours. The premier, Daniel Andrews, said the case numbers presented a “challenge” for the state as he announced that all authorised workers would be subject to compulsory vaccination in order to work on site. The mandate will cover everyone who is currently allowed to work outside the home, including cleaners, allied health professionals and even pool maintenance operators, affecting about 1.2m Victorians.

I don't understand the commotion over oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico from drilling operations after Hurricane Ida. Oil has always oozed out of the ground to foul land, lakes, and oceans. That's how people first discovered the stuff. In nature, some oil on the surface evaporates off as naphtha (probably the basis of the ancient Greek fire). Other oil is digested by bacteria, converting it into simple organic compounds that other organisms feast on, leading to localized exuberant biodiversity. The heavier components of oil remain as lumps called bitumen or asphalt. The Dead Sea was called Lake Asphaltites because of the gooey pebbles that floated

A recent story out of Kansas City, the town in which I live, suggests just how eager the Left is to control our lives, right down to the food we eat. The story involves a friendly hole-in-the-wall café whose brave proprietor had had enough. A little background is in order. In 2008, I somehow emerged as the public face of the opposition to a ballot measure that called for a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants in Kansas City. What made this unusual, and what made me an effective spokesman, was that I never smoked. Well, not that effective—my side lost the election, narrowly.

Three glistening new buildings in downtown Seattle with 165 studio apartments — originally to be rented at market rates — will instead house the homeless. The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is buying the buildings with taxpayer dollars for about $50 million, with federal COVID-19 relief funds splitting the cost equally. Seattle City Hall is contributing about $25 million, while also using “American Rescue Plan Act” funds. A large portion comes from Washington State’s Department of Commerce. Left-wing Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, so unpopular she can’t run for re-election, claims the deals will house people quickly and cheaply, compared to the time and cost required to develop similar projects from scratch.
