Biden team asks oil industry for help
to tame gas prices

Original Article

The White House has been consulting with the oil industry to seek a remedy for rising gasoline prices as surging inflation threatens to tarnish the economic recovery, according to three people familiar with the discussions. The latest outreach to the oil industry is an awkward shift for the Biden administration, which has pledged to move the country away from fossil fuels and has drawn criticism from the industry and Republicans for pausing lease sales of federal land for oil and gas development.

Comments:

Drooly Joe goes hat in hand to beg for help from the industry he has spent the last 50 years vilifying. GFY, Lunch Bucket.

What a doofus. Close down a pipeline. Stop our country from being fuel independent and then ask for help to ease the cost of fuel from a country making billions off the US! He’s nuts. Why would a country stop getting as much of our money as they can. I miss PRESIDENT Trump

Obviously Joe has no clue due to his dementia nor do those controlling him due to their ideology and lack of real world survival. Between this and the attempt to foolishly pursue 97% vaccination with treatments that don't work for a virus that is 99% survivable is a fools errand. All mandates in attempts to achieve this nonsense is just that. It's all about power and control. Resist indeed.

What a moron. The market sets the price based on demand (fairly constant, and high) and the supply.....dramatically decreased by Traitor Joe's own actions. Is Joe actually this stupid that he doesn't see that HE is the reason for the price increase? That may be possible, he is very stupid. But certainly, others in his groups of fools knows that the policies that they have put into action are the reason for the price increases. They ALL can't be as stupid as Joe.

It's time for the industry to do some hard nose negotiating. "Open Keystone (or other priority project) and we will talk" As other have pointed out , how many times does the industry have to solve the problem before getting some respect. Congress created the Department of Energy to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and completely failed to do so. US industry came through but the dems sold them out as they always do.

#10, they knew he created this problem, and now need to fool the oil and natural gas industry folks to come back so he can blame them for the high prices the following week. If the Oil and Gas industry was smart, they issue a statement that they can't trust this president. Heard there are only a few hundred wells active compared to almost 800 in the previous administration. Natural gas down to under 100 sites. Wait until those folks in the Northeast start getting those massive heating bills.

Dittos, OP. In addition to the obvious uses for petroleum are the petroleum by-products which are used in almost everything we use, from cosmetics and simple "Vaseline" an ointment useful for many things including as a wound cover, to medical equipment, sports gear, entertainment, art supplies, clothing on and on. I will never forget hearing most of the long list when Rush enlightened us to it. We have a gaggle of pompous arses ruling over us, people with no practical wisdom or understanding. And watch out! they think they can run everything from the center, the old "command-and-control" soviet-style routing which ALWAYS fails. I would rather trust in the invisible hand of a free market economy. Two possible reasons for why the overseers are driving us over the cliff: stupidity, arrogance, ignorance; OR malevolence, sheer evil.

Illinois Dems unveil new congressional

Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly released the proposed new congressional map on Friday, with the lines drawn to yield 14 Democratic and three Republican districts. The current House delegation is made up of 13 Democrats and five Republicans. Illinois lost a seat because of population shifts reflected in the 2020 census. The potential three-seat pickup for Democrats in the Illinois remap could determine whether Democrats, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, continue to control the House after the 2022 elections. Pelosi at present holds onto the House with a Democrat margin as slim as three votes.

U.S. health advisers endorsed a booster of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine Friday, citing growing worry that Americans who got the single-dose shot aren’t as protected as those given two-dose brands. Advisers to the Food and Drug Administration weighed J&J’s proposal for a flexible booster schedule. The company said the extra dose adds important protection as early as two months after initial vaccination -- but that it might work better if people wait until six months later. The FDA’s advisory panel voted unanimously that the booster should be offered at least two months after immunization but didn’t suggest a firm time.

The Biden administration told the courts late Thursday that it plans to re-implement the Trump-era Remain in Mexico policy in mid-November if it can get buy-in from the neighboring government. The move comes after an initial victory by Texas and Missouri in a suit that argued the Biden administration too hastily withdrew the policy, under which the U.S. transported 70,000 asylum seekers to Mexico to await a determination in their case. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has appealed the case and is working on a memo to rescind the program anew, but it still required to reimplement what was formally termed the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) “in good faith.”

Some have said the law allows people to avoid getting the COVID-19 vaccine and evade Pritzker’s executive order mandating vaccination or regularly testing for health care workers, educators and other state employees.
