The Maine branch of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency busted a massive shipment of cocaine hiding in a sheet cake in a perp’s car this week. The agency on its Facebook page said it arrested a man and a woman “following the discovery of a significant amount of cocaine in their vehicle along I-295.” The bust was made on the basis of an anonymous tip, the DEA said; a drug-sniffing dog helped locate the four-pound bag of cocaine, valued at $200,000, in the man’s car.

Comments:

We've been reading stories of "massive drug busts" for over 50 years - - as the "War On Drugs" trundles on and on. Meanwhile - - trillions of dollars have been poured down the drain - - and innocenrt deaths, crime, corruption, and drug addiction - - are worse than ever. When will the drug prohibitionists wake up to the disaster they have created?

Looks like the DEA is using the FBIs playbook. Low level crime for the DEA, but someone gets a feather in their cap. Probably a former paid informant who got to smart for his own good and the DEA set him up for the fall.

Former President Trump railed Friday against the owners of Cleveland's Major League Baseball team having to change the team's name from the Indians to the Guardians, saying the end of the 106-year-old tradition was a "disgrace" forced by a small group of people "determined to destroy our culture and heritage." Trump expressed his disappointment with the change hours after it was announced by the franchise.

Special counsel John Durham's report into the Trump-Russia investigators should be submitted in a way that allows it to be released to the public when completed, the Justice Department said. Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin pressed Attorney General Merrick Garland for answers about Durham’s inquiry. Although the Biden DOJ did not fully answer Republican questions about Susan Hennessey, an appointee in the Justice Department’s National Security Division whom they said displayed “bias” toward Durham, it did provide some clarity on its thoughts on Durham’s impending report.

Republicans warned they are not ready to back a $1 trillion infrastructure package Democrats hope to consider next week because they are skeptical of how the government would pay for the plan without adding to the nation’s staggering debt. “I don’t see any way possible that this is on the floor next week,” Senate Minority Whip John Thune, a South Dakota Republican, said after meeting with GOP lawmakers. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer outlined an ambitious summer legislative schedule on Monday that would include passing both the bipartisan infrastructure bill as well as a Democratic budget resolution that would unlock consideration of a much larger spending package.
